5. They did not exactly face the same enemy
David H.   (03.04.08)
Hezbollah was armed with the best weaponry of Russia, USA, etc. Hamas gunmen are armed with AK-47s and homemade RPGs. Winning against Hamas is not a spectacular achievement. Moreover, the IDF was there for only 2 days, and entered only the outskirts of Jabalya, avoiding the densely populated zone. Finaly, the gains of the IDF was achieved while killing as many civilians as terrorists, which is not surprising given the context of the fighting, but is not exactly glorious either.

7. As Moses' Arms were raised Israel Prevailed, As Olmert retur
Squalid Ibn Harman ,   Qtir   (03.04.08)
As Moses' Arms were raised Israel Prevailed. As long as Olmert was abroad Israel prevailed, As soo as Olmert returned he screwed it up as usual and stopped before HAMAS was totally crushed. Why didn't someone shutdown Ben Gurion and cancel Olmert's visa while he was still in Japan?
8. God bless the IDF!

Talula ,   Israel   (03.04.08)
The 'soldiers' that fire rockets into Israel from residential areas? the 'soldiers' that march around with their faces covered? HA HA HA HA you are so funny!! Oh dear, let me catch my breath. .....Now, tell me, how many Israeli civilians do your 'soldiers' hope to kill each time you fire a rocket over here? huh? Do me a favour kid, when you have a decent argument to put forward here, come back. In the meantime, go away and grow up.
14. fighting
colin   (03.04.08)
Now we see why the action in gaza was a success. The commanding officer was with his men.Not as the cowards in the lebenon war sitting behind the computer screens in airconditioned offices. All past Israel fighters always told the men AFTER ME and not through the pelephone.
15. BRAVO Talula! - and #10 , you're totally F.O.S
Scott   (03.04.08)
When the 'other side' of the situation is put forward... like the real situation. Stupid comments like kid hunters totally and absolutely look empty. Just plain nonsense. Its amazing though that morons like this ACTUALLY believe their own crap and hold it dear to such an extreme, unyielding extent, they are almost as dangerous as the enemy, at times getting in the way of commonsense. And that's why the majority of decent people around the world over the years have not joined these imbeciles in supporting their sick ,misguided 'cause' - if you want call it that. Quite simply , they are wrong but will never be convinced otherwise.
16. Israeli Soldiers

18. WHAT THE F***!!???
Ethan S. ,   Montreal, Canada   (03.04.08)
A minute of silence? Are they walkin on their head, those leftists? A minute of silence for the victims that the IDF had no choice to make? Hamas is holding responsibility as exactly did the Hezbollah in 2006, and these potheads are calling for a minute of silence? The palestinians are giving candies for free when they learn that one israeli is killed. They'll be dancing over our dead bodies and the leftists of the country tolerate students to stand up and honor their deads?? Aaach, it's high time the Kassam Rocket fall on Tel Aviv, on Dizengoff Street, just to remind the smallanim who are the arabs, really!
19. Umm, I think #10 was...
ZS ,   USA   (03.04.08)
...referring to Hamas, who are brave when launching rockets at civilians, but cowards when facing soldiers. Although I am not sure I agree, because the soldiers said that Hamas fought fiercely... They were just outmatched by the IDF. When an enemy retreats, that does not mean they are necessarily cowards...retreat is a military maneuver as part of a battle. However, if they retreated and fired from the midst of their own civilians, then this is cowardly. When you try to succeed by using your enemy's attempted avoidance of civilian casualties (although not always a successful avoidance) as a weakness against him, then you really must examine your own goals and principles. In effect, you are counting on the fact that your enemy will not sink to the depths of depravity and disgustingness that you yourself are willing to sink to. Even if Israel did not have an advanced military, Israelis would still not target civilians...or if one or two Israelis did target civilians, an overwhelming majority of the other Israelis would condemn it. Unfortunately it seems Hamas would rather "go down fighting", than accept the fact that Israel is here to stay. They have to realize that Israelis will always come out on top in these battles... Hamas fights for pride; Israel fights for survival. The one fighting for survival always has more at stake, and incentive to fight more fiercely, than the one fighting for pride. Hamas's attitude seems to be "No matter what you do to us, we will show you that we can still launch rockets." It is a matter of pride for them. It has nothing to do with providing a better life for their people. This is unfortunate.
20. The solution to terror.
Jean Van Daem ,   Metula   (03.04.08)
Victory is the key word not peace, because peace is not an option in this part of the world, and because there is only one solution to terror : a military solution. You do not talk to terrorists, you fight and defeat them. Victory is needed to prove to the Muslims in general and the Arabs in particular that against their ethos of death stands the ethos of life, protected by the arms of democracies that are resolved to punish them where it hurts most as explained at : http://israelagainstterror.blogspot.com/2008/01/stop-them-with-clear-cut-victory-part-i.html
21. Marwan from Palestine - I mean Jordan...
ClickSchmuck ,   Eurabia   (03.04.08)
400 dead Hizzies uin S. Lebanon 25% of them six foot under seems like a pretty good hit rate?
22. Hamas learned lessons as well unfortunately
Jason ,   USA   (03.04.08)
If the IDF has to re-take areas when they will of course have to return, many more booby-traps and mines will await them. I hope that the IDF officers realize this.
23. #9, wierd this wasn't up
Danny   (03.04.08)
when they were firing qassams. I guess what you really want is where the Palestininans can fire rockets but Israel is not allowed to respond.
24. Grotesque
Chrisona ,   Chicago.IL   (03.04.08)
"The commanders added however, that there observed several incidents in which Hamas militants sent children to collect weapons from militants killed and injured in action." These monsters don't deserve to have children. They should be sterilized. But without kids, how would they fight a war?
25. The Face of the Future
ra   (03.04.08)
all these soldiers are Great, everyone of them
26. Rice getting soggy and IDF starting to waver...
Michael Reising ,   Berkeley, CA   (03.04.08)
Good start, Israel, keep bombing and too bad for civilian casualties; there will always be collateral damages. If a rocket lands on Israel's territory, bomb them as I said I before back into the stone age. Why has the IAF not implemented a shoot on sight policy for anyone around an area where a missle was launched (or is about to be launched?) And regarding Rice, she is hired dirrectly by Bush, and as many suspect, she makes no independent policies; she is nothing more that his mouthpiece. I live in the U.S. and studied international politics here, and this is nothing less than fact. Unless there is some secret reason Bush has forced the IDF to put on the breaks, triple the number of Israeli strikes. While it is fact Bush has influence over Israel, in this case it is undue and wrong, (something which I keep trying to answer,... probably having a lot to do with secret agreements, fear of leaving office with a 20% approval rating as well as a lot of other factors it would take to much time to explain here), so we should thus implement what Barak has been aggressivly pushing for militarily and immediately!
27. what is bringing freedom to A'm Israel is not those Einstein

but those soldiers. May the adoni bless them and keep them, may the divine light shine upon them, and bestow them grace, may them always carry blessed name of god forever.
28. If Gaza wants quiet
Gary ,   Los Angeles   (03.04.08)
Stop the rockets today and talk peace. If Gaza wants to shoot rockets then let's take the battle to them every day. Bravo Israel.
29. Let Gaza Burn
txbobsplace ,   Country Texas, USA   (03.05.08)
I truly admire the restraint of Israel and the IDF. Here in Texas, we would have long ago put to bed anyone randomly shooting rockets into our pastures. I can't imagine anyone in Gaza not leaving long ago, but then again they have the Arab mentality. Everyone is a martyr, even kids and pregnant women...I don't understand the mentality but they have no place on my earth. Job Well Done IDF..Hang in there Israel. Do what you have to do....God will sort it all out when it's time. (paraphrasing something we made up in Viet Nam) Y'all Be Well
30. Why do the soldiers wear chef's hats?
