Israelis think that these Russian immigrants aren't really Jews, and that they don't deserve real help from the Israeli government. This, despite that the vast majority of USSR immigrants prove to be amongst the most Zionistic of the Israeli society and whose children frequently volunteer for the most dangerous fire-teams in the IDF. It's true that about 20% of us are not 100% Jewish, but most of us become a part of the Israeli society within a generation. Our children and our children's children will marry Jewish and/por convert. Eventually, we will be no less Jewish than the halachic Russian Jews, who have as much Slavic genes in them as we do due to Kazak raids in the old countries. Give us a chance...

I agree that the definitive answer will be an effective shield against rockets and missiles, but until then is imperative to provide all those citizens with the best and safest housing available! Frankly, Israel is no longer the pauper state from the early 50s, somehow an answer must be found, urgently! First let me say that my wife is a new immigrant from Ukraine(Jewish). Whats happening in Sderot(and Ashkelon) has nothing to do with Israeli views about Russian immigrants. Whats happenings is a weak government(Olmert) that is afraid to take action. Both native born Israeli and new immigrants(from Russia and Ethiopia) are suffering equally.
