2. Useless whining
Rodion ,   Haifa   (03.20.08)
You don't *ask* if you can stick it to the man, you go ahead and stick it.
3. Barak
Aaron judah ,   Melbourne Australia   (03.20.08)
Barak should be ashamed of himself showing his American friend's the dammage caused by kassam's and the untolerable life the people are living and yet he being the defence minster has done nothing of what he promissed before being elected.
4. I feel your pain Sderot
Ehud Olmert ,   Gaza City   (03.20.08)
Now stop fighting my wishes and raise the white flag to Hamas. Damn Sderotites...they keep nudging so I can't enjoy my sushi with mahmood
5. I'm ashamed
Sigfried S. Kuhn ,   Aberdeen   (03.20.08)
It is obvioous that the government of Israel is both intellectually challenged and morally deficient. They don't seem to understand that the Palestinians are launching these rockets as a test of Israel's ability to remain a nation and so far, the Olmert government has failed the test. Obviously, a reinvasion of Gaza would be difficult. Casualties would be high and world opinion would be against Israel. With this in mind, the dimwits in the government see Sderoot as taking far less casualties than would happen in an invasion. They won't even help the Sderot residents with tax relief. What they don't realize is that the rockets won't stop with Sderot and Ashkelon. Iran and Syria will see Israel's fear of war and supply the terrorists with better and more powerful rockets. Ben Gurion airport will become un usable and there will be no safe place in Israel for tourists. In the end, Israel will have to invade to survive and then the cost will be much higher.
6. Justification
Abir ,   Chicago, IL   (03.20.08)
"Security situation in Sderot does not justify tax exemptions." You have gotta be kidding !! Again, this could work with the folk in Sderot. This would never work with the folk in Ramat Aviv or Ramat HaSharon. It seems that the Government considers Sderot an ex-territory.
7. The Should Not Be Exempt
Dave Levy ,   Burbank. CAUSA   (03.20.08)
To Mr Kuhn: You are way off base. It's like saying, should the families of the US soldiers in Iraq, or those stationed around the world, stop paying taxes altogether? Maybe the exemption should apply to the families of soldiers who fought in Vietnam and Korea too? Give me a break. Everyone in Israel must pay their fair shares..otherwise, the entire country will collapse from within. Not paying property tax is understandable..this entire complaint is a farce. Should the yeshiva boy's familes stop paying taxes? The Strip is a problem for Israel, but not one that in any way will threatend it's existence. But Israel has had problems since 48, it's life in the midst of the Arab world. Olmert is doing basically what he can, no more, no less. Getting 100 F-35s is where it's at pal, to fight the Pals, AND Syria, Iran's potential for mischief. Getting 30b in military aid is where it's at..Kassams are annoying and do cause grief. Set your sights on the bigger picture..or Tel Aviv will indeed have a problem. Be smart. The Jews have been in a conflict for 100yrs..the Muslim world doesn't want them, it's just that simple. Syria and Iran know where they can expect if they send THEIR missiles into Tel Aviv. That's why they haven't.
8. They SHOULD get tax exemption
Talula ,   Isrel   (03.20.08)
and they also need to sue Hamas for for mental anguish, torment and distress. The papers can be issued to those members of Hamas in Israeli prisons. They are not there for nothing.
9. sderot exemption from taxes
abba ,   modi'in   (03.20.08)
It boggles the rational mind how any lawyer could address the court with a straight face and claim that the state has "tried to do the maximum" to protect the residents of Sderot .
