31. What about the rights of women...
Micha   (03.25.08)
freedom to worship as one chooses freedom to choose one's partner freedom from terrorism freedom to do as one pleases so long as it does not infringe on another's rights.. Will those also be discussed? What about freedom from being enslaved as thousands are in Saudi Arabia? Will that be touched upon?
32. To # 24
Jellybean ,   Chicago   (03.25.08)
I understand your point, but also understand one thing about a democracy..I don't have to support you! If the Arabs "Choose" to elect "Terrorists" thats fine let them, but any government such the the US or the UK can "Choose" not do deal with them as well as support them. So it works both ways.
33. #22 Shimon Klein - Israel
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (03.25.08)
I know how to test if this is, as you say, the beginning of a new opportunity for peace & understanding. Let the Saudis organize an inter-faith prayer on the Temple Mount, Jews, Christians, & Muslims & anyone else who wants to participate. What better way to show tolerance & mutual understanding than by acknowledging our ancient Temple as the center of the worship of the One G-d? But that's not going to happen, is it? By the way, you made a rather unsupported statement when you said "most Muslims are law-abiding & are against terror" - a recent poll showed 84% of Palestinians approved of the murder at the Yeshiva in Jerusalem. When Muslims say they are against terror, they mean against other Muslims, provided those Muslims aren't heretics, apostates, collaborators with infidels, from another sect, or political opponants. In other words, they support terrorism (Jihad) even if the majority are not active participants. And terrorism against Jews, Christians, Hindous, Buddhists, & anyone else is not, by their definition, terrorism, it is Jihad.
34. This conference is just a propaganda stunt

35. I'm going to have to side with the Arabs on this one
Besalel ,   Kew Gardens, NY   (03.25.08)
I hate to say it but they are right. What makes us stick out in the Middle East the most is not our Jewishness, it is our secularism. We arrived to a modest and pious region and introduced the most vile of what secular society has to offer. If we were modest, religious and Jewish we would have had an easier time fitting into the Middle East and being accepted by our neighbors.
36. #6, What harm can it do? Depends on saudi aims.
AK   (03.25.08)
The adherents of the religious creed that advocates world domination do not conduct inter-faith dialogs, except for self-serving reasons. Now, lets think what those might be: good PR now that people in Europe and the US are slowly awakening to the danger of the spread of Islam?
37. Rami, the only moderate among saudi are dead or abroad.
AK   (03.25.08)
38. Reluctant Hawk, which part of Islam you find compatible?
AK   (03.25.08)
a. beheadings b. stoning of adulterers c. limb amputations d. polygamy e. death sentence for conversion to other religion. You stand with the proponents of the above shoulder to shoulder?
39. Brod, than again Hawk does not know Judaism or Christianity

AK   (03.25.08)
The point is that when the Muslim get their chance to vote in a truly democratic elections, they choose undemocratic theocracy, which makes their democratic election the first and the last. Problem is, you and others like you have no concept of what Democracy is.
41. Dearest King Adoul Aziz,
David Powell ,   Everett, Wa. USA   (03.25.08)
You can start by calling off the religious police and arresting and persecuteing people of other faiths from practicing their faith in your country.
42. To MY SERVANT THE LAZY MULE...first see if you could do ...
ben shlomo ,   singapore   (03.25.08)
some justice to your OPPRESSED ISLAMIC WOMAN there, the human rights issues there in Arab Saudi is BOOOOOOOOOOOOooooo Inter faith conference? Well talk among yourselves. keep your Mr. J and Mohammed among you. Live us Jews alone! We have the Torah, if you dare follow us ! Cross Over this side we have the Torah. BTW , Personally I have no respect for both you and the POPE ! I ask, "Why must I study and learn from you and the xtians ?When your religions have broken and divided my home land. Is not the truth already within me?"Me and My TORAH taught by our LIONS. The truth is locked within you too for you know the Torah ,but you bury the TRUTH deep in slumber. We were awakened and liberated by the truth that comes from within without your INTER RELIGIOUS DIALOGUE. You Wahabi Islamist and Xtaians go your way, we will go our way.We remember 613.The last comand !

NYC Girl   (03.25.08)
If your theory is correct, why was the most recent Palestinian terror attack carried out against seminary students? After all, there are more than enough bastions of secularism in Israel that could have been targeted instead. The fact is the Muslims cannot accept Jews in their midst in any way, shape or form.
44. Morality?
Debra ,   UK   (03.25.08)
In a country where human beings are beheaded in the name of "divine law" and it is considered compatible with human rights, there is no concept of morality and no place for a Jew.
45. useless discussion
George Saliba ,   Canada   (03.25.08)
Does he allow the building a church like in Kattar recently or a synagogue in his most extremist muslin country.Better for him to organize discussion between sunit and shiit first this moron.

Unfortunately for you AK, I'm Greek and I have a far better understanding of what democracy is or isn't: don't lecture me on it, we bloody invented it! We know exactly what kind of beast democracy can be. As for not supprting terrorist governments, I agree with you Jellybean, but the first rule of democracy is people's choice, thus it can be democratically elected out! Not allowing a democratic election because you won't like the result is less democratic than voting in an undemocratic government. Besides, who decides what is a "terrorist government" is entirely subjective.

51. in my humble opinion
(03.25.08)
there would never be a need to have this kind of dialohue if the muslims around the world learned to accept and respect others that are different than them and accept and respect other's beliefs. our beliefs that are different from islam need to be respected. our secular way of lide and the separation of church and state and our idea of democracy, freedom and choice should also be respected by arab muslims of any kind. if this would have been the case, there would never be a need for this kind of dialogue at all. i believe that more unrgent is the inter muslim factions dialogue amongst each other so that they can come to terms with peace and harmony between islam's factions and leave the others alone and out of it. the other religions have not had problems with islam until they insisted that their aim is to globalize the world, turn it over to islam and conquer all infidels via the sword. now, that, i have an issue with. otherwise, if muslims stop their hopes for this imagined dream, all will be ok. and no discussions will be needed. each will live with his god, his beliefs, his choice and his lifestyle. let's face it, muslims hate, kill, damage and murder. their religion has ample surahs and decrees from the kuran and their muftis and imams to kill, annihilate, convert by the sword and murder all non believers unless they accept dihimitude, second class citizenship and obedience to islam via paying the jizyah dihimi tax. have you seen such decrees made by jewish or christian religions and its various denomijations. the jewish god and jesus were about love, respect, life that is sacred, harmony and non violence. they were not about swords, murder, conversions, dihimitude status, jizyah taxes and forced beliefs into islam and kuran. so, muslims, you, that want to dialogue with the sane and free people on this planet need to clean house first, to look carefully at your beliefs and your conduct around the world, look and examine you set of values about "democracy", opression, family life, court rules, etc.... and leave the rest of the peaceful nice people in the world alone to continue living. you, saudi arabia, ARE THE LAST COUNTRY TO TELL THE WORLD ABOUT HUMAN VALUES, FAIRNESS OF CRIMINAL TRIALS, HUMAN RIGHTS, FEMALE RIGHTS AND EVERYTHING THAT MAKES OTHER NATIONS HUMANE, KIND AND PROGRESSIVE. LOOK AT YOURSELVES BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO CHANGE, LECTURE AND PREACH TO OTHERS.

oh, please....consider this source. it's muslim arabic. the rabbi weiss that went to iran is not a jew and never was. he's neturei karta, the most hatesxdespot in the jewish religion. his voice is NOT THE JEWISH PEOPLE'S VOICE, BUT IS A CONVENIENT TOOL IN THE HANDS OF ARABS AND THE CRAZY AHMADINEJAD WHO ARE USING HIM AND HIS VILE OPINIONS TO DEMONIZE JEWS AND ISRAEL. PERIOD!
53. well!, Israel & Saudi Arabia are separtated apart by Jordan
observer   (03.25.08)
So, Israel has to take Jordan to get this interfaith business accomplished. Isn't that Israel's idea about the whole matter!
54. I salute this call, very needed for all. But i want to say
Simon Mohammed ,   Falls Church, VA USA   (03.25.08)
some thing to people who write here, yes every one has the right to a free speech, but shall be within respect to the other. and while this call is supposed to be a step one to a friendly dialogue a lot of people here already start an attack. is this your real nature for ever? thank you
55. #46 lol to you
Historian   (03.26.08)
Well if you are Greek go study your history again. Athens fought the persians with boats built from the silver from their mines. At first they did not want to build the boats but upon the convincing arguements of their politics/generals (I can't remeber which) they did build the boats. In the end they beat the persians but the ironic part is that the guy who got athens to build the boats was ostracized. If you really know anything about grece then you know that democracy had the right ostracise anyone that was a threat to becoming a despot and ruining democracy. You also know that greek democracy was built on the backs of slaves so don't preach how your system was so glorious... Terrorists are extremists, extremists are despots, despots are not allowed in democracy. Hence your absolutley wrong in this issue and historically off the mark. Would you like more education on your ancient civilization my dear Greek?

If you had read my post, then you wouldn't have written this purile drivel. I clearly stated "We know what kind of a beast democracy can be." Would you like me to give you lessons in reading, or would like to get your money back from the school you went to?
