92. To all the America First bigots
Will48 ,   Earth   (03.27.08)
rest assured - the US policy was always anti-Israel. The demand to withdraw to pre-1967 indefensible borders is sharply anti-Israel and has always been the cornerstone of US ME policy and its strategic commitment since 1967 (all the talk of "piece-by-piece" process just a meaningless verbiage), when all the precedent in international law demanded that the aggressing side (the Arab Oil Powers) has no right to the territory lost to the defending Israel in the war of self-defense. This territory should have been annexed to Israel right away and the remaining enemy population repatriated into the Aggressor's proper terrotory, just like 10 million Germans were repatriated to Germany after they lost their war of agression just 22 years prior. But of course the American policy was always one of Appeasement to Arab Oil Powers, and since Clinton they added appeasing Islamicists to their range of policy choices (Iranian armaments and Zawahiri's fighters flown into Bosnia on Pentagon planes etc.) This policy of appeasing the Islamicists have brought onto America its unavoidable results in 9/11 tragedy. Now how's that in America's self-interests? And besides, if the american interest would demand all Jews in Israel were slaughtered by Islamicists, what's that say about America?
93. Obama Advisror
Bob Shepherd ,   Towoomba, Australia   (03.27.08)
"General McPeak finds it more convenient to blame American Jewry and their perceived influence," said Brooks. "This is the same dangerous and disturbing canard being promoted by the likes of Jimmy Carter and authors Mearsheimer and Walt in their book, The Israel Lobby." "Senator Obama continues to surround himself with advisors holding troubling and disturbing anti-Israel bias," Brooks said. "We call on Senator Obama to immediately remove General McPeak from his campaign leadership role and as a key advisor." And what,,,this isn't interfering with US politics? The US is a democracy and people can say what they like, MR BROOKS. You could put your fingers in your ears if you don't want to hear it. Israel was founded on stolen land (Palestine) and its people (Palestinians) displaced. Mr Brooks!

95. Finally, Some Truth
Schlomo ,   Richmond, VA USA   (03.27.08)
As my USAF Chief of Staff, I agreed with McPeak a decade and a half ago, and I certainly, after living and working in the Middle East for 7 years, Israel included, ....I certainly agree with his take on israel and the isr-Palestinian conflict. Ninety-nine percent of the problems stem from the israeli side, but we're too stupid in the US to read the real news, but follow the scheisters of the so-called main-stream press. Garbage, all of it.
96. General McPeak
Walt ,   U.S.A.   (03.27.08)
Senator Obama seems to have a propsensity to select rather extreme advisors, such as Reverend Wright and Ret. General McPeak. At some point, one has to ask if his views resemble those of the company he keeps?
97. #92 is right
ben ,   usa   (03.27.08)
Yeah, everyone everywhere agrees on that one.. Israel not getting all it wanted from the United States, caused 911. Boy, that is true. Wonderful opportunities dont grow on trees you know. Sometimes, they need a little help, the al kind perhaps
98. If the general is so wrong, why is there
Ben ,   NJ   (03.27.08)
such massive influence of AIPAC on American politicans or explain that fraternity prank by Jonathan Pollard. I lost any respect I had for Israel when I saw a group of Israeli tourist all wearing t-shirts that said: "Don't worry America, Israel Will Protect You"! All the American taxpayer aid and military aid that we sent you and THIS is how you repay us? Believe me I know a number of people in the US armed forces, NONE are going to support your attack on Iran! Stand up tough guys and fight your own wars!
99. It's The Truth
Draconius ,   Paterson NJ USA   (03.27.08)
Jews in America own the media and hold the highest positions in government. The are disproportionately represented in every field. To state the obvious is to be called an anti-semite. It is common knowledge that any politician who refuses to swear allegiance to Israel will not be a politician for much longer. Mearsheimer and Walt are absolutely correct, and since they are Jews does that make them anti-semites as well?
100. What will happen
Edo ,   nyc   (03.27.08)
Without having read all of the comments, everyone here must agree that people in the US should put the US as their number one priority and NOT Israel. Cry anti-semitism if you want but I can rebuff that by calling you a traitor. The real problem as I see it though is once this criminal gang is done with the US, we will all be too busy trying to salvage what's left. The other sad part is that the good middle class Jewish people will face a tremendous backlash, not the people really responsible for this travesty being played on this country. That's OK though. They brought America to her knees and now they are priming the EU for a complete fleecing. To all the good, hard-working Jewish people, please do what you can to save America from a complete breakdown.
101. Ynet is lying
Josh Eban ,   New York, USA   (03.27.08)
Ynet says the guy is a bigot who refers disparagingly to Jews. But none of the quotes provided by Ynet back that up. Nowhere does the general use to word "Jew," or even "Zionist." Where does he get personal? Nowhere. He talks about politics, not race or ethnicity. Stop lying, corporate-state media!
102. ben #97, didn't get it, please explain
Jake   (03.27.08)
Straight talkers who are not cowards get to the point and cut the cryptic mumbo-jumbo.
103. The general is right.
Atoo ,   Toronto, Canada   (03.27.08)
Zionists of America in cooperation with top Zionists of Israel have destroyed the American economy, crashed the dollar and diminished considerably the American stand in the world militarily, politically and morally. America today is an occupied country by Zionists. Zionists are now pushing for another war with Iran which for sure will lead to America's self destruction. Palestinians will never be free before America frees itself from Zionists.
104. McPeat is right!
Joe ,   Warwick, USA   (03.27.08)
I have not liked Obama, but now I have a reason to like him! Everything his advisor said is true, any American citizen, or person living in the USA who places another nation before the USA is treasonis and should go live in that country. Israel is a terrorist, welfare state and needs to servive or fall on its own.
105. obama advisor General McPeak
tony ,   sydney australia   (03.27.08)
I am sick and tied of the Israel Lobby AIPAC etc attacking anyone who has the guts to stand up and have a counter view to them.Accept that in a supposedly open and free country that USA is supposed to be that criticismand valid discussion is the life of society.Instead of looking at the evidence and discussing it the Israel lobby attacks ,does not debate. Why?Because proper debate and open discussion is not what they want.Lets have more views aired publicly by the Jews who also have the guts to stand up to these narrow narrow minded thugs. Many of my best friends are Jews and follow the jewish faith ,which i admire and have much time for.Dont call me an anti semite ,anti Jew anti Israel I am not. What I am is for the truth to be known and not suppressed by continual intimidation, and scaring off people from the ability to even have discussions.
106. McPeaks comments
Chick Dishong ,   Olney, MD/USA   (03.27.08)
If Obama were to fire McPeak, he would lose my vote. It's high time we stop censoring any dissent on U.S. policy toward Israel. Most U.S. citizens are clueless about whose interests always come first in Mideast policy. No more wars for Israel.
107. hack general needs to get lost
David Zeeman ,   United States   (03.27.08)
"General McPeak finds it more convenient to blame American Jewry"... it's time to flush this professional nonsense sayer and Jewish-denegrationist down the toilet now before he eats away the support Obama has garnered from the J-Sector.
108. are you for real?
Schlomo Weinberg ,   brooklyn ny   (03.27.08)
are you a jew or a Zionist? I am a jew and I will vote for Obama cause I see the truth in what his people have said. Isreal as it is run now is a rogue evil state and we will never have Moshiach while it exists
109. To #107 and all Americans
Sean ,   Montreal, Quebec   (03.27.08)
This story was coincidently published on the 7th anniversary of Education and Sharing day signed into law by Bush Sr. ( HJ Res 104 ) the 102nd Congress of The United States of America. Read it.
110. Likud Terrorists
The Die Hard ,   Chicago, USA   (03.27.08)
We, the people of the United States of America, call on all Zionists to haul their traitorous assholes back to their phony "homeland," and all AMERICAN politicians to end ALL foreign aid to the Zionist whacko terrorists.
111. #30
Mannstein ,   USA   (03.28.08)
Actually if Israel were occupied by the UN it wouldn't be a bad idea. Maybe the killing and the new settlements might stop.
112. Why are we wasting our time taliking about two horrible choi
Jeff ,   Baltimore, USA   (03.28.08)
Obama and Clinton are bad choices for this country. Thier healthcare plans would be a total disaster. Our taxes would of course be raised to pay for it. Plus the government can't do anything right so why put your well-being (and life) in their hands. Clinton has been "misspeaking" for over a decade now and speaking is all Obama has. I won't use the "A" word (articulate) since I would be labeled a racist. He has won more states and delegates than Hiliary but then again look who he's running against . Democrats (including myself) know Hiliary can't win so where else do you turn? McCain isn't the greatest candidate but compared to the eventual Democratic nominee he's the best choice. G-d help us all.
113. General McPeak
Roy ,   USA   (03.29.08)
Maybe this issue will precipitate a badly-needed national debate.
114. #19 You're spot on!
Menno ,   The Netherlands   (03.29.08)
Yes, all those Americans who do not totally 100% support the Likud Zionist position are "anti" Israel, as if there isn't discussion in Israel itself. And then #17 and others can get scared because of inexplicable "antisemitism" raising its head from out of nowhere. How transparent. Also transparent are the ad hominem attacks (e.g., fond of alcohol) that are thrown at any American or European who dares to question a single Israeli action or policy. Shanda, really!
115. Obama advisor: US Jews hinder peace
Yoram ,   Canada   (03.30.08)
So the good general gets vilified for telling the truth about the jewish influence in the US? It's about time that more and more people know about the destructive foreign policy the US has partnered with Israel.
116. Dissent is not anti-Israel.
Ken Levy ,   St. Louis - USA   (03.30.08)
Walt and Mearscheimer incorrectly conclude that US Mid East policy is controlled by Israeli and American Jewish Elites (AJE). The record doesn't support that assertion. There are shared goals, misguided in my opinion, held in common among power centers in Washington and Jerusalem. It's certainly not anti-Semitic nor anti-Israel to find US and Israeli policy in the region to be counterproductive. It's important to emphasize that a just settlement has been agreed to: full Israeli withdrawal from the territories acquired during the June 1967 war, full recognition by the Arab states of the state of Israel within the '67 borders with some minor adjustments, and the right of self-determination for the Arabs in the West Bank and Gaza. The agreement is about thirty years old now and continues to be opposed by the US and Israel, accompanied at times by up to about five other states (Dominica, Tuvalu, Nauru, Micronesia and the Marshall Islands.) There is a broad consensus which includes the entire Arab League that supports this decades old just settlement and it is, in my opinion, a proper expression of international morality under a system of international law. The US and Israel are the last holdouts. The constant labeling of all dissenting voices as anti-Semitic and anti-Israeli in not constructive. In fact it probably contributes to ill-will and wild conspiracy theories. The morality and practicality of the international consensus is, despite all the senseless condemnation and insult, obvious to serious moral actors.
117. Jews
James ,   Athens USA   (04.04.08)
The best option for Americans would be to join the National Alliance
118. Don't trust Obama ...
Howard ,   Thousand Oaks, U.S.A   (05.23.08)
No matter how much the pattern of unsavory Obama associations keeps growing and growing, Obama and his supporters continue to ignore it, or to make excuses for it, or blame the rest of us for not interpreting it properly. However, it's becoming increasingly clear that the real Obama, not the one he keeps projecting to us, is a radical left wing extremist, who disrespects all the American traditions and values that the rest of us hold dear. Obama is not even close to being the right stuff to become President of the United States ... and Commander and Chief. If Obama were elected president, and it became politically expedient to throw the Jews to the wolves, Obama wouldn't hesitate. I don't blame the Jewish community for not trusting Obama.
119. Hoorah Gen. McPeak!
Matt ,   CA, USA   (06.25.10)
I march behind General McPeak in reminding the neoconservatives and all other Israeli-loyalists that we still have FREE SPEECH in this country!
