1. UNIV. STUDY --- WHAT A CROCK OF B.S.
hymie zoltsveis ,   NYC USA   (03.30.08)
No wonder the muslim vermin are doing so well at poisoning the minds of stupid Jewish liberals at college. This "brilliant" study might as well have been issued by Pus Now or the plo, propaganda branch. The ONLY government that will bring a STRONG ISRAEL, will be an HONEST government (do you hear that, Olmert?), of religious Jews, who know that islam is a disease, and that the nation MUST be a Jewish state. The filthy muslims will NOT even lie and say that Israel has a right to exist as an inependent Jewish state. The muslimes seek our destruction. They seek NO PEACE---only cease fires (when they are getting their butts kicked), so they can re-arm, re-group, and re-strategize. The college study was a HUGE waste of money. This article, and the liberal children who reported it, don't deserve to write for My Weekly Reader.
2. #1 Is that so?

Then maybe you want to explain why SHIMON PERES played a central role in founding the settlements? No idea? Ok then, maybe you can tell me why settlement construction TRIPLED while Ehud Barak was Prime Minister? No idea? Maybe you fanatics should stop dismissing everything just because it happens to conflict with your narrow ideological worldview, and actually consider the EVIDENCE.
3. Left/Right: Irrelevant

Actions speak louder than words. No political group in Israel changes the status quo. Israeli's suffer a similar delusion as many of my countrymen: they believe in the goodness of their country regardless of what their country does. This is partially due to ignorance, but also a result of cultural patriotism. This allows the guilt of living on the land (and in some cases in the homes) of the indigenous Palestinians to be suppressed. As time passes, perception is viewed as fact, and the oppressors view themselves as rightful. This strategy worked particularly well for the USA opposite the Native Americans Israelis should pray the Palestinians forgive them and show them mercy in the long run, for the Palestinians are far more formidable in the modern world than were the Native Americans 150 years ago. My experience with Palestinians is they will settle for a semi-just peace, allowing Israeli's to keep the 78% of Palestine they have acquired via questionable purchases and (mostly) war. My experience with Israelis suggest their cult of victim hood will not allow them to cede anything, thus dooming their fate; this time truly self-inflicted.
4. "benign" leftism
Charles ,   New York, USA   (03.30.08)
Of course, leftist governments have also, to a seemingly irreparable degree, shifted the "red" bargaining line over the years (namely, in the direction of the Mediterranean Sea), preparing the way for the "rightist" coalitions to implement the effects.
5. LEFT-RIGHT

So Left wing governments are better?? Really. Left wing gov'ts are OK if you want some kind of cradle to grave security. In the beginning, as it were, a social security net was needed to help one and all get established. I would think that most immigrants who came to the new land (Canada) included, needed a helping hand. They came from socialist backgrounds where if they were good, they got from the gov'ts of the day. Canada was a wilderness with few people, so they got a helping hand, and so we grew. Today is a different story. Canadians like the Israeli people have a modern country. They should be able to stand on their own 2 feet. Unfortunately, we have all become used to gov't handouts (your own money) to make the transition, from Cradle to Grave. To the extent that corporations and citizens can't seem to function without "gov't money". When people get cut off, they scream. Socialist gov't seem to have more corruption, scandals, money laundering. Maybe that is because no one is minding the shop. Easy money. Socialists tend to start more wars, also, read that as benevolent dictatorships. Years of socialist (liberal) governments have brought us in Canada, untold corruption. I hear Israel has a problem with corruption. Really, do we want that?
