1. To the HRW: Where's your concern when thousands of JEWISH
Miriam ,   Israel   (03.31.08)
homes are demolished? Why don't we hear from you then?
2. #1 Because those homes have no place being there
Chaim   (03.31.08)
Jews have no right to settle in another nation's land. These Arabs are Israelis and legally residents, but the state refuses to recognize their villages and forces them to live in conditions unfit for animals. And besides, you can't justify discrimination against Arabs by citing (what you believe is) discrimination against Jews. Two wrongs don't make a right - and I'm yet to see most of the people on these talkbacks outright condemn discrimination against Arabs. Makes you think...
3. They're Bedouin, they dont need or want
(03.31.08)
houses.
4. #3 they need land, and they have been forced off it
David ,   Los Angeles   (03.31.08)
5. Nomadic People By Nature!!
David ,   Jerusalem   (03.31.08)
Bedouin culture is by definition based on living in "..shanty towns". They also don't believe in land ownership and have spent centuries being nomads around the negev and the surrounding areas. They don't claim land as their own! I just wonder if any of the Bedouins think their human rights have been violated! They don't care who claims the land- they have outlived the Turks the British and countless other claimants to the land... Their "human rights" should be judged according to their expectations and not a text-book standard.
6. Bedouins are nomadic...they dont need permanent housing
3jay3 ,   Israel   (03.31.08)
What, do they need a garage for their camels? Human rights watch is a joke. They will complain about anything non Israel but never condemn the Arabs treatment of jews.......hypocrites!
7. #2 Which nation?! When did it ever exist?Legally or actually
Adam ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (03.31.08)
8. to #2
Emanuel ,   Pakistan   (03.31.08)
Chaim if you walk in Karachi near Gora Qabristan you will find a jewish synagogue in an absolutly unrecoginisable condition. Some months ago a report in a magazine sparked an uproar as a person emailed that he is jewish and jewish people are still living in Pakistan but they potray themselves as Parsis. I know it is wrong not to give land and rights to some people in Israel but compared to what is being done to the jewish people it is nothing. Atleast they have the right to live with their idetity. They are bedouins and everyone else know that. But jews in some parts of the world cannot afford to disclose their identity. It is very easy to condemn Israel but it is really difficult to condemn muslim countries. Please have some courage and condemn those countries that voilate the human rights like Saudi Arabia and Iran.
9. I read Israel has already constructed sets of houses
Keren ,   Israel-SP   (03.31.08)
for beduins several times and they refuse ,choosing to live in their own traditional way which are tents. And besides,I can not understand why their own people don't help them. They have their own historic and traditional land which is in Arabic Peninsula, and could live confortably among their own and among their own culture. Why to keep with us? Why so much money is wasted here and there to acomodate a situation ,that is inacomodable, and it is not used to set things the way it should?
10. AND CUT IT OUT .
(03.31.08)
THIS IS SO obviously wrong. BUT I must say so TYPICAL of the way the jews treat the 'arabs". But it does MAKE WE AMERICNAS SICK. I hope Obama creates real change when he is elected especially with regards to our blind welfare of the jew state.
11. #7, #8
Chaim   (03.31.08)
#7 Which nation? In case you have not yet realised, prior to 1967 the residents of the West Bank were all Arabs. This territory - despite the immoral silence of the UN in the face of Jordanian and Egyptian occupation - was recognized by the UN as belonging to the Palestinian people. You will no doubt bring up the good old "THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A PALESTINIAN! THEY NEVER HAD A SOVEREIGN STATE! JERUSALEM IS NOT MENTIONED ONCE IN THE QURAN" Bla bla bla and similar tired old nonsense. The fact of the matter is very simple: prior to 1967 the land was Arab, and since then we have forcefully, against the will of the native population, illegally settled our own citizens in land gained by the use of military force. You can spin it any way you like, but these are the core facts which cannot be disputed. #8 I, myself, am a Persian Jew, and a fifth generation Israeli. We've passed down the story of how my family was forced to flee Persia due to persecution. You don't need to tell me that the situation in the Muslim world is bad, I know it, and of course I utterly condemn their barbaric behaviour. But as I said before, two wrongs don't make a right. We can't answer a legitimate criticism of our nation's policy by saying "BUT look what theyre doing to us in other countries!" The fact of the matter is, Israel is a democracy, and must begin to treat all of its citizens in the spirit of that democracy and all the principles which come with it.
12. Bedouins have the same rights as any Israeli
vicky ,   Ashkelon Israel   (03.31.08)
They are Israeli, they fight in our army and live their life as they please. When they build without the relevant permit they are treated the same as any other sect. I have known Illegal housing being demolished in predominantly Jewish areas. The HRW only take up racist issues, biasedly so, and think an apology afterwards makes it all right. I treat them like does of shill-shul and flush it them away. What sickens me is that theses organisations - along with Amnasty international where original started by Jews, taken over slowely by anti-semites for their own purposes. USA politics #10 have f all to do with this.
13. Bedoiuns have better rights than other Israeli
Judah ,   Golan Heights,Israel   (03.31.08)
If i went and married another woman(besides my current wife) I am sure that I would be immediately arrested. If I then had children with this 2nd wife and got money from the Bituach Leumi then I would also be charged with fraud. Yet the Bedoiuns marry two, three and even four women and then collect money from the government to support all of them. And what do the police do? Nothing they are too afraid. So if there ia a bias then its in the Bedoiuns favor!
14. Judah #13
Keren ,   Israel-SP   (03.31.08)
I was not sure Bituach Leumi gives money to arabs who have more than one wife. You are confirming me the absurdity of that! I start doubting about the "smarteness"of Jews, frankly.
15. Arabs have MORE rights than any jew in israel.
(03.31.08)
Its called reverse discrimination.
