1. Too late Sharon. Your dad created this monster.
Dr. Dave ,   NYC   (04.02.08)
2. they talk alot but not much else other than damage Israel
zionist forever   (04.02.08)
Especialy when it comes to Gaza WE ARE GOING TO CUT THE ELECTRICTY TO GAZA IF THE ROCKETS DONT STOP There is still plenty of electricty in Gaza for the terrorists. WE ARE GOING TO STOP ALL FUEL SUPPLIES TO GAZA For a time we reduced the amount of fuel we sent but never stopped the supplies and as soon as it started to become a problem for the Gazans the amount shipped was increased again. WE WILL SEND TROOPS INTO GAZA IF WE MUST TO STOP THE ATTACK Well there are no Israeli soilders in Gaza to try stop the attacks. This regime is all talk no action when it comes to a will to defend the Israeli public instead they prefer to go to conferences, give guns and armoured vehicles to terrorists. This government is a dream for Israels enemies. They dont know what they are doing most the time one day they talk tough next day they talk peace. They want to give away territory both in the north and south even though neither Syria or the palestians have shown any signs of earning that territory they want. They want to give away jerusalem. With the likes of Olmert Barak & Livni running things for much longer we are going to have to work very hard to reach 61.

5. very good

6. gilead sharon
sas ,   israel   (04.02.08)
now that he is in prison he can write against ohlmert........... no one should follow him.......the man is a liar, corrupt and an impotent. he cannot do anything except accept bribes......... he really is good for nothing along with his entire government. mrs. Livne should go home too. She is a total failure and really is good for nothing. She has ruined the MFA for years to come - but she thinks she is cute when she appears on TV with Rice.
7. the young Sharon
eddie ,   London UK   (04.02.08)
The young Sharon sounds more liekhis father when he was younger, than his father as he got older. Whilst I am sure he would wish to get out of the shadow of his great father, it would be interesting to understand why his father capitulated tot he baraks and the olmerts of this world. Was it because of pressure from the same Rice? Was it the shadow of Rabin, his old mentor? Was it the 18 year battle to rebuild his career after the 1982 disaster? Or was he simply falling into the trap of power-blindness, which has happended to most of Israel's leaders, ? And it is interesting to know what Gilad would say to his father today, if he were still PM.
8. Bravo!!!
David Hes ,   TORONTO CANADA   (04.02.08)
Well said and oh so true. This should be required reading for all members of the Knesset as well, it should be sent as a PR article to critics of Israel. As for Barak and Olmert: stop appeasing the West notably America and the Europeans and appease your own country and put an end to the constant bombing in the south. Your citizens deserve freedom of the stress that comes with Hamas and the other militant terrorist gangs.
9. We should fight with the will to defeat the enemy.
Dora Ziv ,   Haifa   (04.02.08)
US Congressman David Weldon (R., Florida), who visited Israel a few weeks ago, said Israel should strike back at Gaza in one fell swoop. "During World War II," Weldon told the Makor Rishon newspaper, "the U.S. attacked Japan mercilessly. Despite the ethical problems, everyone now agrees that this caused Japan to surrender, thus saving many lives, including Japanese lives. This is the reason I think Israel should hit the Palestinians with one fell swoop, thus defeating them. Otherwise, this cruel situation of today will continue year after year, decade after decade.Just like parents have to protect their children," Weldon said, "a state must protect its citizens, especially those who are threatened such as those in Sderot. If a country would attack the U.S., I would support turning that country into dust. If it’s right for the U.S., it's right for Israel." As described at : http://tinyurl.com/2y59qw
10. I see only 3 possibilities why this is happening
Marlon B.   (04.02.08)
1. Olmert, Livni and Barak have each independently become insane (very unlikely, in spite of their severe left-wing delusions 2. There is something much bigger afoot and this is all disinformation (we can hope) 3. The USA has put secret pressure on (eg not supplying airplane fuel) Israel, and so the leaders feel they must go with Bush's and Rice's flow until they've (thankfully) disappeared for good in a few months.
11. To #1, #3 and the people attacking Sharon
3Jay3 ,   Israel   (04.02.08)
Have you read his autoboagraphy? Have you read the articles he wrote just before he slipped into a coma? Do you know what his plans were for Gazza? Do you think he would of sat back as missiles hit Sderot? The answer is NO. If you were to read Sharons articles just before he fell into a comma, you would realise that he had every intention of taking Gazza back if they kept on attacking. He was using Gazza to show the world the Palastinians dont want peace. Unfortunately, Gysh Katif payed the price for this. He was a great general, the Arabs were shit scared of him and i would have to say one of Israels greatest Pms. Its a shame he was pressured by the Americans into removing Gush Katif, but he really had no choice. Apart from that you cannot point out any other mistakes he made. If Sharon was still in power today, Hezbollah would of been wiped out last war in Lebanon and Gazza would of been controlled by Israel, not Hamass. It amazes me that there is so much ignorance in some commentators here.
12. AWAKENING !!
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (04.02.08)
This is the second opinion article in 2 days that shows a awakening among our Herzelist elite. Hopefully it is not to late for that , may many more of them wake up. Probally these elitists do not give a damn, but the man in the street has lost trust in its leaders a long time ago. With a failing corrupt nepotistic system being called a secular Democracy ,change can only come with an increasing awareness that someting has to give. There is no point to attack Gilad Sharon about his fathers mistakes (lets not forget that Arik Sharon did a lot of good too), he is his own man. One can only hope that these people return to their Jewish roots in order to gain clarity and a healthy will to survive .
13. To the people bashing Ariel Sharon
ajax ,   israel   (04.02.08)
I second most of what was said by #11. I want to add the following things: 1-Rocket fire didn't start with the withdrawal from Gaza. The only difference is that rockets fell on the Gush Katif and not on Sderot and Ashkelon. Was it more acceptable then?? 2-Olmert recently admitted during a visit in ashkelon he had no solution to rocket fires. It's this very attitude which is unacceptable for a PM of a country like Israel. You're fast in putting all the blame on a man who's been in coma for more than 2 years. Ask yourself if Sharon was the kind of person that would have said in 2001 : "I have no solution to suicide bombings". 3-The article is from Gilad Sharon, not Ariel Sharon. Stop holding him accountable for his father's legacy, whether you despise it (most of you, it seems) or praise it.
14. What drugs are olmert peretz peres livni ramon beilin on??
arthur ,   jersey city usa   (04.03.08)
Thanks for the article. The Israeli public is being sold out by power hungry rulers who have no morals even Shas won't do what is right because they want to parley wekness into power. It is time to clean house and have elections before more concessions are made and it is too late
15. No sheep in the Knesset
tb ,   Jerusalem   (04.04.08)
Well said, Gilad! Your dad's erred judgment with the destruction of the Gush Katif Settlement Bloc, as devastating as it was and is, doesn't erase a lifetime of service to his country. I hope that you and your brother will mature into godly men with servants' hearts.
