The Israeli Court is very apt to changing circumstances on merit of one case on it own facts. He did not read well ! he hee heeeee :)
4. A child needs 1 mother and 1 father. That's it!

5. What happens if you legalize immorality? Problems galore!
Miriam ,   Israel   (04.06.08)
This poor child will not know to whom he belongs, who his father is and if he's not a mamzer after all. Eventually these 2 sick women will come to their senses and get married like normal people and what will happen to this poor child?
6. Ironic

children grow up...what kind of lawsuits will they bring against their parents? what kind of rebellion will form their separation and individuation process? its like these people think if I go out into the field far enough my child will have nothing 2 rebel against...I for one tend to believe that they are wrong and that these children will all rebel with a vengance! but then I suppose we will all have to wait and see
8. in this the fact is in this case the adoptive parent is also
YITZAK BEN SHLOMO   (04.06.08)
the biological parent. And issue converning- The paramount consederation is the child welfare, and one that is also based on individual right against public policy. Why no wardship argument made therein ?
9. inquiring minds want to know
Bernie ,   Seattle, WA, USA   (04.06.08)
So is Olmerts daughter the mother or father of her child? Imagine this scenario, a child points to a woman and says that's my daddy. and then points to another woman and says thats my mommy? Confusing, huh?
10. Ironically, if these were heterosexual women not involved
Taxpaying Citizen ,   Israel   (04.06.08)
in an intimate relationship, the woman donating the egg would be considered the "biological" mother, and the woman giving birth would be considered the "surrogate". If the lawmakers involved do not wish to break new ground, they should just stick to the old standards. Otherwise, they just look bigoted and self-important, and are wasting my money.
11. No different than other cases
Ilan ,   Ariel   (04.06.08)
This is the normal situation where one woman donates a ovum and another acts as a surrogate mother. Only one is recognized as the biological parent. I'm not sure that it is in anyone's interest to make this a special case.
12. not true #10
ora ,   Jerusalem   (04.06.08)
If a woman is acting as a surrogate with the intention of giving the baby to the couple who provided the egg and sperm that's one thing, but a woman who gives birth to a child conceived from a purchased/donated egg is still considered the biological mother under Israeli law. A woman who gives birth to a child does not have to adopt that child (this is also Jewish law, btw--the woman who gives birth is the mother, even if the genetic material wasn't hers).
13. #12: Indeed. Yet another confirmation Mazuz is dead wrong.
Taxpaying Citizen ,   Israel   (04.06.08)
