1. some role model
Simon ,   TA Israel   (04.09.08)
"God demands that we be role models for others, to other nations" so please explain Benizri the latest fraud case from Shas. Is this the role model he is so keen to promote?
2. Great Idea - Build more settlements and cause more terror
Chaim   (04.09.08)
The sheer brilliance of some of these Rabbis amazes me.
3. Re-settlements not Settlements
Boblybo Gilobob ,   USA   (04.09.08)
Lets be more precise with the language. Americans are settlers. Israelis are re-settling the land. Yes rebuild now. It is your land.
4. Rabbi Eliyahu is A TRUE LEADER. Rabbi E. for PRIME MINISTER

5. Settling our land defeats Arab terror
Dani ,   Tel Aviv   (04.09.08)
"As long as the Arabs feel that there is the least hope of getting rid of us, they will refuse to give up this hope for either kind words or bread and butter." Ze'ev Jabotinsky, The Iron Wall (1923)
6. to #1 do u know a human group where eveyone is perfect ???
trumpeldor ,   eurabia   (04.09.08)
As a hiloni or former hiloni, I think datim have a role model for youths !
7. Rabbi Eliyahu the reason to seperate politics and state
Simon ,   TA Israel   (04.09.08)
Politics and religion need to be seperate, forcing extreme idiology on the general public will never succeed . The rantings and ravings of this man belong in the beit knesset where the "praise the lord" crowd can actually believe his drival.
8. THE NAMES FOR NEW SETTLEMENTS
ROLAND SEENER ,   LONDON ENGLAND   (04.09.08)
IT WOULD BE A FINE GESTURE TO THE FAMILIES OF THE BEREAVED,IF EIGHT NEW SETTLEMENTS WERE CREATED,AND NAMED AFTER THE YESHIVA STUDENTS THAT LOST THEIR LIVES.FOLLOWING THAT OTHER SETTLEMENTS SHOULD BE DEDICATED TO THOSE WOUNDED IN THE ATTACK. AND FINALLY ONE CENTRAL ONE BUILT WITHIN THIS BLOCK,NAMED ..."MERCAZ HARAV"

11. to #2 settlements are causing terror??
Nethanel ,   Gush   (04.09.08)
This is the old Peace NOW equation that the building of settlements is equivalend to terror on the other side. Actually I agree to this equation as almost all settlements were actually build by Arabs labor, and almost all Arab terror were made possible by Isaeli labor, meaning that government is handing out rifles, surrendering Gush Katif synagogues to Hamas voters, almost non-action to Kassam attacks and now taking away weapons from settlers so they become easy prey. I agree with Chaim that all OSLO and Anapolis settlements need to be dismantled now.
12. Nablus is a settlement on Shechem
David ,   Boston, USA   (04.09.08)
It is absurd to call Jews building home in Eretz Yisrael settlements. The settlers are the Arabs who build on Jewish land. Nablus was built on the Jewish city of Shechem. We should encourage the Arabs to move to Jordan Palestine or at least start going to Amman Palestine, for government and disband the PA. Cancel Palestine, Create Peace. 2 states, Israel, and Jordan Palestine.
13. Keep in mind that half the Israeli casualties
Zeal ,   Zionist America   (04.09.08)
of the Second Intifada were in the occupied territories; also note that since Gaza was abandoned Israeli casualties decreased (although the same has not happened for Palestinians). Also bear in mind that settlements are illegal, so by all means, start building settlements you criminals.
14. for such a liberal country

15. Stadium originally opposed by Orthodox
Jesse ,   CA, USA   (04.09.08)
It's interesting that this event promoting settlement occurred at Teddy stadium, as its construction was originally opposed in a location closer to downtown by Orthodox Jews, although possible not the same groups that gathered in this case.
16. #13, by all means, keep up the Fuzzy Math
Jake   (04.09.08)
"also note that since Gaza was abandoned Israeli casualties decreased" That's because the Second Intifada effectively came to an end in the West Bank before the Gaza disengagement was even implemented, Abu Genius. Note that Israeli deaths from terror originating in the Gaza strip have skyrocketed since disengagement, and all have been killed in (or kidnapped from) sovereign Israeli territory. Note that since Israel withdrew from Lebanon in 2000, Hizbullah did not become weaker, but stronger and more lethal and has mounted more attacks inside Israeli territory. Note that Israeli belief in the "land for peace" principle has been severely knocked due to the murderous actions of Arabs themselves. Cause and effect, my friend, cause and effect.
17. # 13 Casualty Rates
Thomas   (04.09.08)
That the Arabs have suffered more casualties... A. isn't due to lack of effort on the Arab part ro murder Israelis and B. is called winning. Considering the Arabs started the conflict why shoud I sypathe with them.

#16: "Note that Israeli deaths from terror originating in the Gaza strip have skyrocketed since disengagement, and all have been killed in (or kidnapped from) sovereign Israeli territory" Depends on what you see as casualties; if a wound as opposed to a death is a casualty then perhaps your statement is correct. But note that your terror in the Gaza Strip (whoops, I mean self defense) has also increased exponentially. "Note that Israeli belief in the "land for peace" principle has been severely knocked due to the murderous actions of Arabs themselves" Oh you poor poor things! You would never hurt a soul! You are only defending yourselves from those murderous, barbaric children (I mean terrorists)! #17, Thomas: Do you still think Wikipedia is an Islamist website? And is murdering hundreds of children (by accident, of course!) considered winning? Arabs started the conflict? HA HA HA!!! Back to Europe buddy.
19. # 18
Thomas   (04.09.08)
"And is murdering hundreds of children (by accident, of course!) considered winning?" According to the Geneva Conventons, it is unlawful to lanch attacks ifrom civilian areas and if combatants chose to do so then they are responsibl for cvilian casaulties, and not the opposing side. The IDF has no moral responsibility to protect Arab children when their elected government shoots rockets and bullets at Israelis. "Arabs started the conflict? HA HA HA!!! Back to Europe buddy." 1. Im not European, and . 2. Yes your side started the war by the Arab League's own admission. Now leave US and go back to the Arabian litter box you call a homeland.
20. #15 There are many types of Observant Jews
David   (04.10.08)
From all walks of life, from Europe to Morocco, to Iraq to Poland. So to be truthful and to be correct, if you want to make a statement dont use generalizations. Thank You

"According to the Geneva Conventons, it is unlawful to lanch attacks ifrom civilian areas and if combatants chose to do so then they are responsibl for cvilian casaulties, and not the opposing side" This statement reeks of the Israeli Army Doctrine: Claim everything, explain nothing, deny everything. To say that fighters are responsible for civilian, even when they are deliberately killed is to CLAIM EVERYTHING. To go further saying that such occurs when launch attacks from civilian areas is to EXPLAIN NOTHING. To say that the IDF is not culpable for the deaths of children it causes is to DENY EVERYTHING. Just an example, Six-month-old Mohammed Bourai was killed in the attack on the interior ministry attack last month; combatants? Nope. Of course, the response is "oh its tragic, but war is war." "War is war" when babies are killed, but it is terrorism when a rocket lands in an open field. " Im not European" But you are a Zionist and Zionism was created, envisioned, spread, funded, and supported in Europe; all your prime ministers have European roots. "Yes your side started the war by the Arab League's own admission" Oh, but your side admitted their responsibility as well; and I quote Yehoshofat Harkabi, former Israeli Chief of Military Intelligence: "Because we took the land this gives us the image of being bad, of being aggressive. The Jews always considered that the land belonged to them, but in fact it belonged to the Arabs. I would go further: I would say the original source of this conflict lies with Israel, with the Jews – and you can quote me." And speaking of which, guess what? Today is the sixtieth anniversary of the Deir Yassin massacre. That brings back memories... "Now leave US and go back to the Arabian litter box you call a homeland." Bank on it pal.

1. I've never heard of an Arab civilian being killed when it wasn't during a bombing of a terrorist home or a fight with PLO or Hams gunmen. It's riddiculous to propose that an Arab can try and kill Israeli families and then hide safely in his own home. 2. That quote from Harkabi seems bogus. Give a source, like this: In his memoirs, Haled al Azm, the Syrian Prime Minister in 1948-49, also admitted the Arab role in persuading the refugees to leave: “Since 1948 we have been demanding the return of the refugees to their homes. But we ourselves are the ones who encouraged them to leave. Only a few months separated our call to them to leave and our appeal to the United Nations to resolve on their return” (The Memoirs of Haled al Azm, Beirut, 1973, Part 1, pp. 386-387). Leaders like such as Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri Said, who declared: “We will smash the country with our guns and obliterate every place the Jews seek shelter in. The Arabs should conduct their wives and children to safe areas until the fighting has died down” (Myron Kaufman, The Coming Destruction of Israel, NY: The American Library Inc., 1970, pp. 26-27). “The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Azzam Pasha, assured the Arab peoples that the occupation of Palestine and Tel Aviv would be as simple as a military promenade,” said Habib Issa in the New York Lebanese paper, Al Hoda (June 8, 1951). “He pointed out that they were already on the frontiers and that all the millions the Jews had spent on land and economic development would be easy booty, for it would be a simple matter to throw Jews into the Mediterranean... Brotherly advice was given to the Arabs of Palestine to leave their land, homes and property and to stay temporarily in neighboring fraternal states, lest the guns of the invading Arab armies mow them down.”

"I've never heard of an Arab civilian being killed when it wasn't during a bombing of a terrorist home or a fight with PLO or Hams gunmen" Well there are plenty of examples of this; some recent ones include Hassan Abed, 60, and Yussef Abu Daher, 55, both of whom are farmers. "That quote from Harkabi seems bogus. Give a source..." Fine then; to settle the curiosity, it was in 'Peace Won't Be a Plane Ticket to Cairo,' International Armed Forces Journal, October 1973, page 30. Your quotes sound suspect or bogus too, but I'd rather not argue about that. In any case, here is a little memorial: http://www.deiryassin.org/
24. Civilians die in war Zeal, especially if people break rules
Daniel ,   Formerly Israel   (04.11.08)
Rules of war, set up thousands of years ago, about wearing uniforms and never delaying or holding back war (read Machiavelli's Prince and Art of War) were designed to minimize civilian casualties on both sides. During the past eighty years of fighting between Jews and Arabs in Palestine both sides have been breaking the rules, that's why civilians have been dying. In the twenties and thirties, under the leadership of Haj Amin al Husseini, the Palestinian Arabs began to carry out pogroms against the Jews, targeting anyone they could reach, which led to a lot of civilian deaths. In the late thirties and forties when the Jewish Irgun and Hagannah groups were formed and started fighting back a lot more civilians started dying on both sides (along with the fighters) because neither Al Husseini's raiders nor the Jewish Militia wore uniforms. After 1948 the Jewish groups were organized into a uniformed army (caled the Israeli Defense Force) but the Palestinian groups, now based mostly in Cairo did not wear uniforms and did not differentiate between soldiers and civilians, therefore they ended up killing a lot of civilians and the IDF couldn't entrer Gaza or the West Bank (controlled at the tiem by Egypt and Jordan) and had to limit itself to quick raids, which because of their impricision gotsome civilians caught in the crossfire along with the terrorists, though relatively few. After the Six day war Israel had infantry and special forces in the territories and could use them to clean the terrorists out, and civilian casualties came way down Under the Shamir-Sharon policy during the intifada of the late 1980s Terror attacks were answered quickly and decisively, leading to a lot of dead terrorists, relatively few dead civilians, and a quick end to the fighting (FYI Sabra and Shatilla were staged). Since 1993 the relative number of civilians killed by Israel, though still low, has gone up, since Israel has also, under international pressure, has begun to break one of the most important rules of war, the no delay, and no restraint rule. They're like a giant with a big hammer, but the giant's hands are shaking 'cause he's afraid to kill civilians, but because his hands are shaking he can't aim his hammer properly and ends up hitting the wrong people. Israel is afraid to act decisively; they respond to terror attacks intermittent raids, targetted at God knows who, then withdraw and let the cycle repeat itself, prolonging the fighting. The best way to avoid civilian casualties is to flood a war-zone with infantry, who can see what they're doing and conduct specific strikes. But that's occupation, and that's bad, so the only choice Israel has left is air-strikes or shelling, and that inevitably gets civilians killed, especially in a densly populated area where everyone wants to be a human shield. You want fewer civilian casualties, let Israel flood the territories with troops and clear them, otherwise, SHUT UP.

"Arabs started the conflict? HA HA HA!!! Back to Europe buddy. " Gee whiz! It escaped my attention that the Arab armies expanded from Morocco to the Gates of China in 60 years and were stopped only in Tours, France by Charles Martel. Or that the Moslem armies were stopped outside Vienna. Or that the Crusades were ignited when the Moslem armies marched through Anatolia at Manzikert. Or that the Egyptian army was stopped around Ashdod in 1948. I had forgotten all that. I thought the Arabs had always sat on their eggs and minded their own business in Eretz Hejaz. They never "long for the vanished gardens of Cordoba". Oh and by the way, another thing I almost forgot to tell you. My ancestors were never "in Europe" before about 1920. They never left the region.

"Well there are plenty of examples of this; some recent ones include Hassan Abed, 60, and Yussef Abu Daher, 55, both of whom are farmers." So? Are you going to claim Arabs don't dig weapons smuggling tunnels near their farms or shoot rockets and guns in the area? Hell, Hamas had an HQ adjacent to a maternity ward so Imtobelieve they woudn't want to othera farmer? LOL. Again with your quotes, I found the site you probably took it from and found the same distorted quote from Moshe Dayan at the top, which of course makes all the others suspect. Now as for Deir Yassin why should I care? The Arabs have comitted so many atrociies against the Jews throughout the centuries for which no Arab has ever been sorry. In fact, Arabs are taught to glorify a story from the Hadiths where Mohammed has a rabbi tortured so he would reveal where the Jews hid their gold.
27. Israel a Jewish state.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (04.11.08)
Arabs should accept that just as Ire-Land is the Land of the Irish and Eng-Land the Land of the English and Fin-Land the Land of the Finns, the name Eretz Yisrael means the Land of the Israelis. The identity of the land is the same as the identity of the nation residing in it; therefore, the Nation of Israel, the Jews, cannot be an occupier of the Land of Israel. The Crusaders named the land “Kingdom of Jerusalem.” The Arab occupation did not have a name for the land; it was referred to merely as “southern Syria.” For 1,300 years, the land had no identity in the absence of the Biblical Jewish nation that identified itself with it. No one claimed ownership but our nation. This is the entire story. The Arabs demand that Ehud Olmert transfer the land free and clear of Jews. As long as there are Jews in Judea, that place cannot not be called by its false name – “Palestine.” The only thing that stops the cadre of traitors from transferring our land to the enemy, already at our gates, is their inability to uproot the settlements. Those communities halt the wheels of destruction as explained at : http://xrl.us/bi9g8
