Millie ,   Israel   (04.10.08)
He needs to be kept there - in chains - forever. What a MFPOS.
32. Has Carter gone loopy? Answers on a postcard please
Sammy ,   Newcastle UK   (04.10.08)
How many times do we need to say That GOON Mashaal is NOT anything approaching an elected representative of the Palestinian people. Hes a self appointed self seeking comedian WHO HAS NOTHING TO OFFER THE PALESTINIANS. Ask most Palestinians in the West Bank, in Gaza or the diaspora. Hes considered a joke, a corrupt puppet of the Iranian and Syrian regime. DO YOU HEAR ME CARTER???? Or are you simply up to spoiling tactics like Mashaal to hinder peace? CARTER CARTER ITS A NON STARTER!
33. How Carter became an enemy of peace
JPS ,   Efrat   (04.10.08)
Carter tossed in the towel and joined the ranks of the politically incorrect years ago. Peace makers are consensus builders - that's how he got his Nobel Prize for brokering peace between Israel and Egypt. Now, far from being a broker, Carter is a biased dictator. He is not just failing to build bridges, he's knocking them down. His farce of a book is proof of this. By falsely labeling Israel as "apartheid" , Carter removed himself as an honest broker. He's thrown in his weight with the Palestinian spin-meisters and left wing "peaceniks" who are ready to sell their souls in return for a Palestinian state. He doesn't care about Palestinian human rights abuses. He doesn't care that Palestinian society is both corrupt and violent. The end does not justify the means. Meeting Hamas looks good, but reveals him to be regressing in his judgement. Unless, of course, he can convince Hamas to announce that they recognize Israel and embrace a 2-state solution. In which case, he'll be worthy of a second peace prize. However, the truth is working against Carter. Hamas is a fascist regime that embraces human rights abuses and war crimes, and continues to call for war.

Apparently, the two of you must have missed those news reports which showed members of Hamas celebrating in the streets after the attacks on 9/11. And if that's the case, one can only presume you'd have no problem with Jimmy Carter meeting with bin Laden or al Zawahiri, for example, since there really isn't much difference between al Qaeda and Hamas. Or does that hit a little too close too home for you?

Invicta ,   Europa   (04.10.08)
There is a big difference between Al Qaeda and Hamas. Hamas is a resistance group. Hamas is a recognised political group who were democratically elected. Hamas provide welfare and assistance to an occupied and beleagured population. Carter is correct to talk to Hamas. After all, all Israel's US guns and missiles have achieved nothing.
36. TRADE CARTER FOR GILAD SHALIT!!!

37. Invicta - Europe. Totally flawed analysis
Sammy ,   Newcastle UK   (04.10.08)
Hamas have failed Gaza WHICHEVER way you look at it Its Hamas straightjacketed by their own dogma and totally corrupt leadership that has brought Gaza to its knees. And Invicta which planet do you live on? Israel does not occupy Gaza anymore. Its Hamas and Hamas alone who are responsible for the near collapse of Gaza society. Hamas MUST take responsiblity for its failures and ANSWER to all Palestinians. So before you paint too rosy a picture about Hamas in Gaza get off your proverbial bottom and GO THERE and SEE FOR YOURSELF See what a total failure Hamas has been and privately just how destested they have become. Instead join the millions of Palestinains all over the world WHO want simply this. A homeland of our own side by side with our neighbours including Israel.
38. Former President Carter
Millicent ,   Israel   (04.10.08)
The man is a bafoon, wasn't it under his administration that the US Embassy in Iran was taken over by Iranian Terrorists and the people working there held as hostages for over 400 days, it took Regan being elected president to free them! The man was an ineffectual leader and is a fool for talking with terrorists, but he has one good quality about him and that is his work with Habitat for Humanity and building homes for those without in the US and other countries he should stick with that and keep his nose out of anything to do with politics or talking to terrorists!
39. the expresident that was bought by arab oil
mashugakufar ,   toronto,Canada   (04.10.08)
Sadly again the arm chair moron carter lefties have no real grasp of the harm the ex pres in the arab leagues pockets has brought to the west , not only is there ample evidence of carters ties to the sauds, but his most wonderfull achievements include creating a arab mind which has no fear of killing americans by showing his l pathetic manner in which he handled the iran kidnapping crises, created the atmosphere where the subsequent lebanon bombing took place (at Iran's behest), the many attacks against the U.S. And its many bases and consulates as well as Israel, Carters Methodology in Promoting his arab friends Ideologies and his sheer fabrications considering israel. not to mention what a joke he was as president. the fools who still support him are both pathetically naive and equally poor in judgement

I think you will find that the people of Gaza voted for Hamas in fair and open elections. So that makes Hamas democratically elected Government. Under every indicator, Gaza is still occupied. Israel controls Gaza's air space, Gaza's borders, the coast line, and the border with Egypt. The people in gaza are not permitted to leave or enter UNLESS the IDF gives permission. Gaza is in a stranglehold - one that is perpetrated by israel. Palestinian calls for a 'homeland' are thwarted by israel's illegal settlements, the 500 km WALL (yes a WALL) being built around the West Bank, the roadblocks, the military incursions, the segregated roads and settlements. And of course the countless Palestinian deaths. Israel is responsible for that.

Thomas   (04.10.08)
The wall, the roadblocks, and the segregated roads did not precede Arab terrorism. As for not letting the Gazans leave, they are free to go to Egypt whenever their fellow Egyyptians allow them.

Saul Balagura ,   Houston, Texas   (04.10.08)
It fits that expresident J Carter is visiting syria and Mashaal. He was the worst president in the 20th Century, he is a rabid leftist, a self hater and a destructor of Latin American democracies. The man is a proof that mediocrity has no limits.
