Before you make yourself look even more foolish. Polish Jews were exterminated, uncovered, persecuted, hunted down by their Polish neighbors. It was merely the end of hundreds of years of persecution and pogroms.

4. Polish did not CAUSE the Holocaust
Bernie ,   Seattle WA   (04.14.08)
they just served as the German Nazi's very willing surrogates to exterminate the Jews whom they hated with a passion, and then robbed their possessions. and carried out pogroms after the war and murdered lotted and destroyed any Jewish remembrance on their soil! They just finished the job the Germans started. The Poles, the Ukranians and the Latvians were among the most savage and brutal guards in the concentration camps in Poland. And finally let's not forget where Auschwitz, Treblinka and many of the other infamous camps were; in Poland!
5.  Steven is right 100 % , many pogroms like Kielce etc. !
Joel   (04.14.08)
Poland is today antisemitic not less than in past . Go read polonica.net or polish onet.pl and you will see such hate towards Jews by Poles !!!
6. In 1967 Poland cut diplomatic relations with Israel !!!

tomek ,   Lublin, Poland   (04.14.08)
It is true that Poland cut diplomatic relations with Israel after the six-day war. It is also true, however, that the Poles in general were rooting for the Israelis to win. Or, to be more precise, for the Soviet-backed Arabs to lose. I was also tempted to comment on #4 by Bernie but decided it would not be worth it.
8. Poles Still in Possession of Stolen Jewish Property!
Scott Neuman ,   Okemos, USA   (04.14.08)
Words are nice, but what about all the Jewish property stolen by Poles after the War. We have document evidence that the Polish Government has continually ignored our claim for a property that we have a Polish Government court order returning our building to us. The Polish Government refuses to return the property. See polandinjustice.com. Peres, acting President of the Jewish People, should point this out to the Polish President.

Oh, is that so? Where did you read about it? Please, post some link, give me a source. I am eager to read about those Poles who finished what Germans started. #1 - Poles were fist to stand up against Hilter and they were the first victims. BS you posted is nothing but a nasty lie. #3 - you spread this BS with such a hate, that one can only wonder: who really hates who? #4 - willing surrogates? Are you suggesting that Poles helped Germans killed 3 million Poles and 3 million Polish Jews? You're an idiot. Poles most savage guards?! Where did you get this LIE from? Poles as guard in CCamps? Poles destroyed any remembrace of the Jews? Ha ha ha, what a joke! #5 - http://www.pogonowski.com/display.php?textid=415 Enjoy reading. #1, #3, #4, #5 - ignorant morons.

Mr. Peres is just full of B.S
12. Peres is a disgrace
Jay3 ,   Israel   (04.14.08)
'We will never again allow unruly governments and people with a murderous agenda to do this to us again,' says during Holocaust memorial ceremony. Isnt our current government unruly? Isnt this what Peres is allowing to happen in Israel right at this moment by propping up the murderous Fatah, releasing and pardoning terrorists that will murder Israelis again! Peres, you are a liar and a hypocrit!
13. 2008: Jewish shops in fire!
Gavriel ,   Budapest, Hungary   (04.14.08)
Polish people have always been deeply anti-Semitic, continued what the nazis started. In "neighbouring" Hungary in 1944 the Hungarian fascist (hungarists) were so active and brutal during deportations that 600.000 Hungarian Jews have been deported and murdered within 2-3 weeks. But this is the past! Let's see the present! Last week in Budapest 4.000 people went to the streets in order to demonstrate against neo-fascism and neo-hungarism after that a Jewish ticket office has been put in fire by Hungarian nazis. The number of neo-hungarists and their supporters is alarmingly increasing. Hungarian Jews have a fear and Israel does nothing in order to make an effective pressure on Hungarian politicians to punish those who make public speaches of hatred. Recently, Peres told to Hungarian president in Jerusalem that Israel "understands" that freedom of speach is an important fundament of democracy! i.e. Jews in Hungary, Poland etc... should tolerate neo-nazi hatred in order to keep freedom of speach... I'm wondering why Israel is interested in increasing anti-Semitism in Europe. The answer is ALIYAH!
14. Talkbacks.
Greg ,   LA, USA   (04.14.08)
Every time there is an article about Poland published, horde of people immediately show up, like a hord of dogs howling utter nonsense and spreading same lies over and over again about Poland and the Poles. This is getting really, really old.
15.  HAMAS committed to proving Peres Wrong!!!

"We will never again allow people with murderous compulsions, uncontrollable animals – to do this again," HAMAS committed to proving Peres Wrong!!!
16. From Peres' viewpoint, it the fault of the Jews

17. To Nr 14 - Greg / Sorry for Poles?
Gavriel ,   Budapest, Hungary   (04.15.08)
Polish people (as well Hungarians, Romanians, Slovaks) must finally think over their past and role in murdering Jews. Germans did, it's time that also the other collaborators of nazi Germany did the same! Poles massacred innocent Holocaust surviviors returning from the concentration camps to Kielce and also in other cities anti-Semitic atrocities happened... So why should we say "sorry" for Poles??
18. History...
David Oberlander ,   US   (04.15.08)
There is a fragile resurgence of Jewish life in Poland. Today, Poland supports Israel and is probably one of her best friends in Europe. This does not excuse the past(or negate it). Poland has many individuals who have taken a new stance regarding Israel and the Jews. The late, great filmmaker Kieslowski wrote movingly about the tragedy of the plight of the Jews in Poland. Two factors caused hatred within Poland: the traditional Catholic church as well as a traditional polish hatred of Russia and Poland's perceived linkage of Jews to Russia. I applaud the Polish leader's words regarding the Jews and friendship towards Israel. They do not negate the past, but represent a welcome change.
19. Hello Greg
Zeal ,   Zionist America   (04.15.08)
Very well done standing up and defending your country; I admire your courage.
20. Are all Israelis so ignorant ?
Jack ,   Vancouver   (04.15.08)
Are all Israelis so ignorant ? I don't think so, but the amount of anti-Polish ignorant comments, ( eg.Poles were brutal guards in Auschwitz ?!?) is SCARY. Sorry to say that but some comments are so stupid that they are not even woth responding to. What did they teach you in schools !? Your knowledge of Jewish-Polish history is EMBARRASSING to say the least. I would recommend you all "Poland haters" to refer to Wikiedia to read about history of Polish Jews. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_Jews_in_Poland Shalom from Canada
21. History 2...
David Oberlander ,   USA   (04.15.08)
The post war pogram(s) of the '40's and the events of March '68 also need to be viewed in a wider context. The Soviet puppet state placed in Lublin starting in late 1944 was hated by Poles. The Soviets no doubt had zero trust for the Poles. What you had from 45-48 was a sort of civil war within Poland. Fast forward to the events of March '68. Many students marched against the Polish communist government and, actually to my surprise, in support of Israel after the six day war. Poland's communists then blamed the unrest on the Jews and expelled them from the government and army; in effect using them as a scapegoat and the communist used the worlds oldest hatred to further their power. Stalinism was replaced by a faux nationalism.
22. Thank you Mr. Peres!
Justine   (04.15.08)
I have a feeling I will be using those quotes a lot ;) And since he is the president of Israel I assume his views are more representative of Israeli than some of the talkbacks on this forum.
23. to Bernie - and where are suicide bombings?
Justine   (04.15.08)
In Israel. So I guess it makes Israel responsible for them. Anyway... This is just an anonymous forum and it is Peres who represents Israel. And other bodies epresenting Jews (ADL, WJC) have stated that Poles have nothing to do with concentration camps. Jewish holocaust scholars also have expressed such views. So why bother...
24. to Joel
Justine   (04.15.08)
Polonica.net is disgusting and there are a lot of stupid and hateful comments on onet. But the same is true about many Jewish forums. Personally, I do not think internet forums are representative. You take a few bored teenagers, a few provocators, and few obsessed fanatics and the whole thing degenerates.

woh woh woh - one moment please. Bernie is not entirely wrong. Poles stood up against Hitler? hmm...as far as I know Poles were more in favour of Hitler than of the Soviets. Have you read about the uprising in the Warsaw ghetto? The Jews asked the Poles for help several times, they wanted the Poles to resist the occupation but NOBODY CARED. The Poles were happy to have the Jews locked up in ghettos. And Bernie is right, Poles, Ukrainians and Latvians were the most savage guards in concentration and extermination camps such as Treblinka and Auschwitz. here's a link for a story of a holocaust survivor who spent 1 year in Treblinka: http://www.zchor.org/treblink/wiernik.htm#chapter1 and what about the communists who expelled the remaining Jews from Poland in the 60's? Face it, many Polish assisted the Nazis in their crimes. Surely there were decent people who even risked their lives to save Jews. One should not judge a whole nation, but please don't view the Poles as holy and innocent. the Danish resisted the German occupation and didn't let the Nazis even harm their Jewish citizens. King Christian X of Denmark even wore a yellow Star of David and ordered the Danish people to wear it and said "A Jewish citizen of Denmark is also Danish." After a short while the Germans abolished this regulation in Denmark. Even Mussolinis fascist Italy refused to hand over their Jews. So please don't try to diminish the role of Poland in the holocaust. If the Poles had really risisted the occupation, 3 000 000 Polish Jews wouldn't have been locked up in Ghettos and later exterminated.
26. polish losses
zecharia   (04.15.08)
the poles should have allowed seperate jewish maccabi units well armed from us jewish support to hit the nazis with mobile tank warefare partisan attacks and spit fire support . militirization of all jews able and mentally stable should have started from 1921 and the rabbis should have demanded it .

Igor, your post is laughable. Your accustions are idiotic. Your thesis are lies. The link you posted only proves my point. Did you even read it?
28. to Igor - have you read the text you quote??
Justine   (04.15.08)
Have you actually read the text you're quoting? Where is the info about Polish guards?? I have found this: "Several new transports arrived, I did not know from where. Two transports of Poles arrived also, but since I never saw them alive I do not know how they were treated when they had to disrobe and enter the death chambers. They were gassed just as the others had been. When we handled these corpses, we noticed that the men had not been circumcised. Also, we heard the Germans remarking that those "damned Poles" would not rebel again." This is where your stuff about cruel Polish guards comes from?! As for the rest...it's just hopeless. Just try to find something about 1944 Polish Resistance insurrection before accusing Poles of not resisting to the Nazis.
