1. words of support in place of cash
observer   (04.15.08)
Evangelical Christians in US convince dozens of Iranian Jews to move to Israel offering cash incentives of $10,000. http://www.ynet.co.il/english/articles/0,7340,L-3462815,00.html are the Evangelicals now running out of cash. Or, was the project just sending icons to the desktop to be thrown into Recycle Bin as soon as it fulfills its job.
2. picture of Messiah
observer   (04.15.08)
do you really believe in Messiah or in his money that should be dragged out ?
3. Our only friends & allies ....
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (04.15.08)
While I might not agree on many social issues & certainly not on religious doctrine, but the support is appreciated. Evidently, there are still people who know right from wrong, good from evil. Better than some Jews I can think of ....
4. In our church nobody supports israel, this is nonsense
Yaakov Sullivan ,   NYC   (04.15.08)
My Jewish Catholic community is totally against Israeli occupation. My husbands' musque is a REALLY anti israel. So how can you claim the opposite?

Obviously, your understanding of statistics is as clouded and ill informed as your religious and political views. The article says 82% of US Christians "believe they have a moral obligation to support the Jews and Israel. " So, you and your congregation are in the 18% who do not. How is that confusing? The fact that this poll included Catholics and all Protestants, including the Israel hating Methodists, Presbyterians, etc. is why the numbers are as low as they are. If the poll had confined itself to Evangelical Christians only then these numbers would be significantly higher. The reason for that? Simple: Evangeilcals believe the plain, simple, literal, face value interpretation of scripture. They do not do interpreative gymnastics to twist God's promises to Israel so that they now apply to Christians. They read the many verses that speak clearly of God's eternal covenant with the Jewish people, of His plans to retore them to His land and bless them, and they believe those verses. If the promises God made to Israel can be denied or understood only as figurative, then how do Christians believe the promises that God has made to them?
6. They are crusaders not christians

"My Jewish Catholic community is totally against Israeli occupation. My husbands' musque is a REALLY anti israel. So how can you claim the opposite?" On second read (okay, I confess I skimmed it the first time) I realize this post must be some sort og sick joke. Your (Yaakov) husband? Jacob has a husband? Musque (I am assuming you meant mosque)? Anyway, the remainder of my previous post regarding Christian support for Israel remains vaild.
8. Sorry, Terry, but you're wrong
Said ,   London, UK   (04.15.08)
For the Evangelicals (ha! a misnomer if there ever was one!) the Jewish presence in Palestine is one of the prerequisites for Jesus' Second Coming. If he does come (though why would anyone come down from heaven to this forsaken earth is beyond me!) he'd either demand you convert to Christianity, the "correct" religion, or destroy you. You don't need to believe me, ask them! Looked at in the light, Hamas are far better friends than the Evangelicals will ever be: at the very least they're honest with their intentions!
9. american christians support
allan nielsen ,   sdr bork denmark   (04.15.08)

Jackie ,   Florida, USA   (04.15.08)
Yaacov Sullivan usually posts on Haaretz (need I say more?) I wonder at his posting here. I suppose the next step will be Jerusalem Post and then Aretz Sheva' I would ignore such postings.
12. the other 12% are not christians
jack bauer ,   may God bless Israel   (04.15.08)
It clearly states in the Bible to bless Israel incurs blessing, and to curse Israel will bring curses on you So it is very simple for a Bible believer to support Israel and its people. There are forces of evil trying their best from outside and from within Israel to destroy and curse Israel. They claim Yesha for the usurpers and try and force Israelites away from Torah. They will fail, and bring the very curses they wish for Israel upon their own heads
13. and the 6% of people like this yaakov sullivan
jack bauer   (04.15.08)
never were christians to begin with... gay, catholic, pretend convert jews, who pretend to marry moslems do not count! actually 6% is probably a bit high. It is probably about 1% an anomaly to be certain but a stain on the word christian for sure
14. #7 it's no joke....the dude is a total freak

What are you talking about your husband Yakov? your church the Catholics supports Homos? If your name is Yacov your a male i guess your married to another man.Who would want your support
17. WHERE DO Numbers like THIS come FROM????
Bryan ,   Natchez, Ms   (04.15.08)
Living in the HEART of America's Bible Belt, I have to say that this number is LUDICROUS. Many people here, including many Jews, do not support Israel's expansion, or the destruction of Palestine. Israel is a theocracy, not a constitutional democracy. THis survey must have been an exit-poll of a snake-handlers worship service..
18. WELL SAID BRYAN 17
(04.15.08)
NO one I know supports more WAr in the middle east for the 'jews tehocracy state'. this poll is a joke and we will see that in november.
19. THe world wants PEACE
USA   (04.15.08)
not a state for jews only. thats ridiculous. this poll is a farce.
20. Bryan in Natchez
Matthew   (04.15.08)
this poll was conducted by: Exclusive National Survey Conducted by McLaughlin & Associates 1,000 randomly selected American Christians March 16-18, 2008 You might live "in the Bible belt" but you probably never actually read it or go to church. Otherwise these numbers would not shock you in the least.
21. #8 Said, London. UK
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (04.15.08)
I don't care what they believe as religious doctrine as long as they support us. Anyway, in the unlikely event that Jesus comes back, he will join the religious Zionists & go to the nearest synagogue to pray like any other religious Jew. So maybe the Evangelicals will be the ones converting.
22. The US evangelicals and Iraqi Sunnis...
Persian CAT   (04.15.08)
are both religious minorities. This poll conducted by an unnamed evangelical pollster does not reflect the attitudes of the mainstream American Christians towards Israel. This is poll of the fringe American evangelical groups, done by an evangelical group which for some reason remains anonymous. This is like polling the Sunnis in Iraq and apply the results to all Iraqi Muslims. This poll in nonsense.

Read and enjoy: http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/3EC09F90-D829-4FD9-B4CE-DD5078468EED.htm Then stop preaching to us.
24. To #17-#19 (same person):
ny ,   usa   (04.15.08)
This poll was conducted scientificaly using statistics. It is a reflection--not a promotion-- of the growing pro-Zionist sentiment among Christian Evangelicals. You need to stop guessing about whether or not poll information is indeed accurate as if you knew the answer by emotion alone. What kind of lame dude pretends to recommend his own posts? You are a joke.
25. Said, that sounds more like Moslem eschatology
Jake   (04.15.08)
"The rocks and trees will say, 'Oh Moslem, Oh Abdullah, there is a Jew hiding behind me, come and kill him." While as a Jew I am suspicious of Evangelical intentions toward Jews, I know for a fact that is not what Christianity believes, because their own apostle Paul clearly and directly warns the gentiles against converting Jews in Romans 11, on the grounds that they will be "miraculously converted" and "saved" at the "2nd coming". Even the so-called "Synagogue of Satan" will repent and recognize its "errors" at the 2nd coming (Book of Revelations). This was one of reasons why Augustine of Hippo mandated that Jews be left alone in their beliefs and "tolerated". In short, Christianity believes that God put the veil over the eyes of the Jewish people, and that God will lift this veil at the appointed time. Orthodox Judaism would call this "spiritual murder". On the other hand, Islamic scripture believes Jews will be physically destroyed. Humanity would call this "murder". The idea voiced by some Evangelicals that there will be a momentous war in the Middle East in which many Jews will die is in fact an interpration of a text in Zechariah, which is in the Hebrew Bible, not the New Testament. (The Lake of Fire in the New Testament Revelations is a place of eternal punishment for all the world's unrepentant sinners in general). You also failed to recognize that the results of the American survey include Catholics and mainline Protestants, not just Evangelicals.
26. Neither Jesus nor Paul said Jews would be killed
Jake   (04.15.08)
For all the history of Christian persecution of the Jews, the New Testament does not foretell of some kind of impending doom of the Jews as a people (though supposedly he did warn of the destruction of the Temple). Jesus clearly said that he came not to "revoke", but to "fulfill". Paul warned the Romans that the Jews are "beloved for the sake of the fathers" and that at the apponted time, "all Israel will be saved". Does Islam believe that "all Israel will be saved"? Methinks that it don't!
