1. They won't buy because they already stocked up.
Eric ,   Tel Aviv   (04.17.08)
Given what I have seen in 2 different supermarkets in the past week the reason people will not buy bread during the holiday is because they stocked up prior to the holiday as they have every year up until now. Tuesday night the Mega in Atidieum was selling quite a lot of beer, bread, pitot, and cookies for the number of days until the holiday starts. Personally I know a lot of people that buy beer once a year for Passover in case someone wants it, even though no one in their home usually drinks beer.
2. all Jews keep passover
yechiel ,   london   (04.17.08)
amazing! 81% will not buy bread! that means all Jews in Israel keep passover, since the other 19% are Arabs of nonJewish Russians.
3. The 3rd DVD of 5 in Rabbi Michael Rood's lecture series
Rivkah   (04.17.08)
entitled "The Jonah Code" says Rabbi Yeshua created leavened bread for the 5,000 from a few fishes and loaves of bread DURING PASSOVER to show that eating leavened bread at Passover is not a violation of the Torah since Rabbi Yeshua was the Torah in flesh to be able to obey the Torah without sinning even once during his lifetime on earth. I think unleavened bread is healthy and if you get the Yehuda or Maneschevitz matzos with wine, it stays fresh longer on the shelf in your home. But breaking traditions is not the same as breaking the Torah, something Yeshua wanted to teach people.
4. #1 G-d trusts us y don't u? R u better than the rest of us?
Ami Israel ,   Jerusalem   (04.17.08)
It is a sin of over pride/hybris to think that the rest of us aren't capable of keeping Kosher L'Pesach. We are all secular & religious alike G-d creation and so we are all blessed. Chag Sameach to all Israel
5. Psst Rivkah! That there is a New Testament story!
Sally Forth ,   Jerusalem of Course!   (04.17.08)
It appears in the three synoptic gospels which were all written at least 100 years after Jesus and in the the gospel of John which was written at least 150 years after Jesus. I also note that there is a bit of a controversy in the New Testament as the story in the synoptics gospels sometimes says 5 loaves 2 fish feeding 5000 people and at other times its 7 loaves and 4 fish feeding 4000 people. If the synoptic gospels and John can't agree and if it was written up so long after the fact, in Greek by the way, how exactly does this prove it is remotely related to the true word of the living G-d of Israel? Further there is no mention in the synoptics or John as to what season it was. So please do stop insulting us with your made up stories! In other words, if you are going to try and persuade us to leave Judaism the right and true religion based in the Torah* at least do yourself a favor and get your X-tian Gospels straight in your own head first! *Torah refers only to the First Five Books of the Mosaic texts. *Tanach refers to all of the Mosaic texts from Beresheet (Genesis) to Chronicles II and having a firm knowledge of what is written in those books I can tell you that there is no mention of Jesus in them! By the way it is Peter's dream about eating unclean animals in Acts 10 beginning with verse 9 that gives you X-tians the opening to eat non-Kosher and unclean animals. Yes I am an orthodox Jewess and Yes I can win a victory for the glory of the House of Israel on your turf. I will be watching make sure you know your stuff before you write lies and garbage!
6. I'm secular
Esther ,   Ofarim   (04.17.08)
And I have no bread, beer, pasta or other Hametz in my home over pesach and I need no one dictating me what to buy and what not to buy. The Haredi establishment can do what they want, but most of all, they can stay out of my business. I need no one dictating to me what I can and what I can't do. If someone else chooses to not observe Pesach, that's their decision.
7. #4 - G-d is not related to bad survey questions
Eric ,   Tel Aviv   (04.17.08)
If you read what I wrote, I was again pointing out that the surveys reported in YNet tend not to be well done or at least not well reported. If they held this same survey at a Mega in the center or a Tiv Tam I am sure that the results would have been different..
8. 5 Sally Forth: I always thought you were a man and now you
Rivkah   (04.17.08)
say you are a woman. The Peshita Aramaic text which was written before the Greek since Yeshua and his disciples were all Jews including the physician Luke who was a Greek Jew...the Peshita Aramaic text PASSES the ELS Bible codes test for divine authorship and authenticity. Go to research at www.biblecodedigest.com . The Greek texts and other versions do NOT pass the ELS Bible codes test of authenticity as the Old Testament and Torah do. Rabbi Yeshua obeyed the Torah. It is fun for a lot of people to obey Traditions in Judaism and Christianity, but the Torah is what Yeshua fulfilled when he led a sinfree life. He did not come to fulfill traditions which are additions to the Torah and other authentic writings of the Bible. In the time of Yeshua, the name of a convicted criminal could not be written or mention since it was blotted out for thirty years. That is one reason the early followers of Yeshua were persecuted and the manuscripts of letters could not be published until after thirty years. The Alexandrian text was written much later than the Textus Receptus Greek text and neither pass the ELS codes test of authenticity. BUT, the Aramaic Peshita Text of the New Testament DOES. You obviously do not believe the covenant with Yeshua for Gentiles or Jews is valid. I can assure you that it is as valid as your covenant under the promises of God to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. God blinded the eyes of the Jews to the NAME of the Messiah when he came as a servant and sacrificial lamb so that the Gentiles could be grafted onto the Jewish faith in the two thousand years that followed. Yeshua stayed with the Samaritans (Gentiles) for two days after meeting the woman at the well in Samaria. With the Lord a day is as a thousand years, so the Gentile era is about two thousand years before the Messiah comes as the LION OF JUDAH to deliver his beloved Israel and the Jews who are Jews in their hearts. I believe you have a valid covenant with the Lord if you look for the coming of the Messiah in glory from the sky who will touch down on the Mount of Olives as an earthquake splits the earth and makes Jerusalem a seaport. The Christian religions have fallen into the same traditions traps that Judaism did. Do not confuse traditions with commandments. Breaking a tradition is not a sin. Breaking a commandment is a sin. You will mourn one day when you realize what I tell you is true, but that won't be until the Messiah comes in glory which I believe you may live to see. That will be a happy and sorrowful day for you. Please, stay as you are; but stop condemning the true followers of Yeshua who have a valid promise from God, too. True followers of Yeshua do not persecute Jews, so they are few in number.

More claptrap to try and convert Jews. People like you have been trying to do that for centuries, and when we stuck with our faith tried to break our bodies. Peddle your dreck elsewhere.

11. To #5 and #8
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (04.17.08)
To me all religions are based on myths and fables and neither Testament has a monopoly on "odd." One minute Abraham did know god's name. Then he didn't. In one place the Hebrews were in Egypt 400 years; in another 430 years. In bunches of places god hardened Pharao's heart; a little later Pharao hardened his own heart. One minute there are 12 tribes; then there are 13 tribes. Genesis 22:14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen. Exodus 6:3 And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them. And who exactly hardened Pharaoh's heart? Exodus 4:21 And the LORD said unto Moses, When thou goest to return into Egypt, see that thou do all those wonders before Pharaoh, which I have put in thine hand: but I will harden his heart, that he shall not let the people go. Exodus 7:3 And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt. Exodus 7:13 And he hardened Pharaoh's heart, that he hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had said. Exodus 9:12 And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh, and he hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had spoken unto Moses. Exodus 10:1 And the LORD said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh: for I have hardened his heart, and the heart of his servants, that I might shew these my signs before him: 1 Samuel 6:6 Wherefore then do ye harden your hearts, as the Egyptians and Pharaoh hardened their hearts? What kind of a god would intentionally harden somebody's heart and then kill thousands of innocent children? Then there’s the thing with unleavened bread. Somebody can’t seem to make up their mind as to the # of days that should be eaten. Deuteronomy 16:8 Six days thou shalt eat unleavened bread: and on the seventh day shall be a solemn assembly to the Lord thy God. Deuteronomy 16:3 Seven days shalt thou eat unleavened bread therewith, even the bread of affliction. Exodus 12:15 Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread. Exodus 23:15 Thou shalt eat unleavened bread seven days, as I commanded thee. Oh, and let’s try to figure out how many Hebrews might have left Egypt and just what that might have looked like: Ex.12:37 And the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot that were men, beside children. If there were 600,000 men, then there must have been a few million people that took part in the Exodus. Assuming there were 2.5 million people marching 10 abreast, with a space of 1 meter between the rows, the line would have been 250 kilometers long and would have required five days (assuming 5 km/hr 10 hrs/day) to pass by any fixed point. And what is it with Moses first talking face to face with god, like a friend, and god then saying that although he won’t let Moses see his face, he’ll show him his back parts? If nothing else, it has to be the first recorded mooning incident. These are only a few contradictions. The absurdities in the OT and the NT are no less ridiculous and numerous. And that doesn’t even touch the viciousness of the biblical god or that he, come hell or high water, couldn’t manage to slay the Jebusites as he had promised. This is what happens, when human beings try to explain an unknown and unknowable god. I believe in god, but how anyone with half a brain can believe in all these weird stories is beyond me. Most of all, I hope that I’ll not ever see the worldwide slaughter of all those people who work on the Sabbath. Oh, and since neither Moses nor Jesus are mentioned in the Popol Vu, the “bible” of the ancient Maya, they must not have existed. What kind of logic is that? But if we run out of strange stuff wrt the Old and New Testament, that Koran tops both of those.
12. tsst Rivka...your end game is all fouled up...
Sally Forth ,   Jerusalem of course!   (04.17.08)
1. you bet your sweet petutis I am a woman...a Jewish one with a well placed set of intellectual balls! You are right "Sally Forth" is just my nom-de-plume in order to preserve my privacy and the beauty of my Israeli name! 2. you prattle on about Peshita Aramaic text...ok I will walk that way with you, did you know that these are translations from Greek, and that it there is more than one Aramaic, the one used for the New Testament is actually Eastern Aramaic belonging to the Syriac language group and therefore NOT the Hebrew Aramaic language group. which means that it isn't related to the Hebrew language Mosaic texts. In fact the Peshitta Tanakh translation and the Peshitta New Testament translations are two completely separate and unrelated works of translation. In other words just as they don't have any linguistic connection they don't have any theological connection to one another. 3. lets look at the Synoptic problem and Syriac Aramaic if you were worth your weight in X-tian salt you would know that it was only the proto-Mathew which was written in Syriac Aramaic AND that there is more than one place were the texts disagree. In addition you would be aware of the fact that we are looking at a two-source situation which means that the Protestant fundamentalist or literalist belief (which you so clearly express) that the New Testament was inspired by the Holy Spirit fails. 4. As a good Jewess who respects her fellow humans...how about you go back to the Source (HaMakor) see the errors of your ways and return to the true faith -- Judaism. Don't be afraid if you are really sincere G-d will forgive you for your sins and we the Nation of G-d will accept you. And then you will understand why we believe with perfect faith that though he tarry the Messiah is yet to come! It is the time of FREEDOM, it is the Passover season and it is the Jewish faith which got it right.... in other words I don't have a single thing to be sorry for, mourn for or apologize about with respect to my religion. You on the other hand have a great deal of restitution to do. Your mainstream X-tian religions (note the plural it is real and signifies that X-tianity can't even agree on what to believe or how to practice) on the other hand has much to apologize for...after all you have busied yourselves with setting yourselves above all other religions and in the name of X-tianity you have gone across time and space murdering everyone -- Jews, Moslems, Hindus, Buddhists and everyone else in between. You see your fundamental belief is and will always be "Believe in me and my god or I will kill you and your G-d until you believe in me and mine!" It just ain't gonta happen!

14. How is that? ISRAELI ANIMALS WILL GET KOSHER PASSOVER FOOD
Miriam ,   Israel   (04.17.08)
while some Israeli Jews will buy bread. It seems that Israeli animals are on a higher lever than some Israelis.... Quite shameful and embarrassing! Tel Aviv, Israel - Zoo Puts Animals on Kosher Passover Diet Tel Aviv, Israel - A safari park in Israel has changed its animals' diet in preparation for the Jewish Passover, which starts on Saturday. The eight-day Passover begins on Saturday, but officials at Ramat Gan Safari in Tel Aviv have already made the zoo kosher for the holiday. So instead of foods made with flour, the animals are being fed unleavened bread, or matzo. Safari curator Amalia Turkel says the orangutans appear to enjoy the novelty. [kiiitv]

It seems that the "man-invented" god was no slouch, when it came to killing people in some very innovative ways. If you go by conservative estimates, it comes to 30.000,000+ If you only count specific numbers, meaning leaving out whoever perished in the flood, etc. it comes to oh, only 2,390,968, not counting the later millions killed in the name of the same god, albeit different religions. 22. Rivkah, please explain the Immaculate Conception...
Joe ,   Ramat Gan   (04.18.08)
Rivkah, can you please explain how Yeshu was Mashiach ben-David if he was conceived via the Immaculate Conception? After all, tribal affiliation and the Throne of David are only handed down legitimately via the father's side. Seeing as Joseph wasn't the father of Yeshu, how can Yeshu be Mashiach ben-David? Are you going to actually say that if a bat Kohen conceives "immaculately" and has a male child, that boy is a Kohen? And don't even go down the path of denying the Immaculate Conception. If you stumble onto that path, you may as well just call the entire New Testament postdiction...

I do declare that I believe you are probably upset because instead of: "HEP! HEP!" = "Hierosolyma Est Perdida!" (Jerusalem is lost!) or "Hieroslolyma Capta" (Captured Jerusalem) we have thanks to G-d Almighty a situation of "Hierosolyma Est expedio!" (Jerusalem is free!) and therefore a situation of "Israel Invictus!" (Israel undefeated) Why don't you get out of the sun, fix yourself a lovely mint julip and sit quietly for a spell...I am sure that you will feel right as rain soon enough!

3 Nuns were making their vows in an Abbey, when a large group of Chassidic Jews burst in and sat down at the back, The ceremony was halted as tne Bishop, Priests, Nuns all looked at each other in shock. Finally the Arch Bishop walked over to them and asked what were they doing at a Nuns Vows Ceremony. Well, said the lead Chassid, we are from the Grooms side.

I can only smile at how wrong you are all the way around. You're not impressing me with a lttle bit of Latin. I can quote whole stanzas of Ovid's Metamorphoses in hexameter. Even you would be amused at dragging out anti-Semitism, if you knew me. That being said, the only way I could believe in all those religious myths and fables would be for me to be and stay rip-roaring drunk. On the other hand, no amount of attempted sarcasm changes the contradictions in the Old Testament, the ridiculous assertions in the new one and the really screwed up chronology in the Koran. If I misquoted anything, please, let me know. I'm always willing to learn.
