1. IDF tactics questioned...
Judith ,   New York, USA   (04.17.08)
Since there is a 2 mile security zone surrounding the border fence, why doesnt the Israeli Army use standard Mine technique to keep infiltrators back from the security forces? It seems quite simple.
2. Hamas is their frontline and Oil is their main flank
lydia ,   Bisbane   (04.17.08)
These guys have all the Oil and the Water they need. Watch Oil prices keep rising and Water keep getting scarce. When we started antagonizing them Oil was approx. $17pb now its $115pb. Tell me again how clever the jewish tacticians are. They also invented Mathematic 7200BC, Chess and Multi dimensional Chess and you come to the game ill equiped and unarmed if you think attacking Palestine and killing innocent women and children will make you winners. Talk Peace!

Thank you so much Judith for your suggestion...actually, why don't you come here and show us how.
4. Who are you trying to fool
Jared ,   Stillwater, Oklahoma   (04.17.08)
Quit referring to people who attack Israel as terrorists. Israel initiated attacks that killed civilians, crossed borders and kidnapped people, jailed family members to apply pressure on detainees, use civilians as human shield; all against international laws. There are 2 sides to the coin, but it is still a coin. Terror is terror whether killing is done by an airplane, a tank, rocket, or simply walking in an explosive. Face the facts of life and stop lying to yourself

Because hamas will end up sending some poor 15 year old boy or girl and send them to walk the mine fields. Then they will blame Israel saying that it targets civilians even if they are children. The UN will then get involved and they will try to pass a resolution in the general assembly condemning Israel for what it deems excessive force. When that resolution fails to pass, the US will ratchet up its diplomatic offensive in the "Road Map" and demand that Israel make a concessions to Mahmoud Abbas, by releasing some prisoner. The weak leadership in Israel will agree and let go of some prisoners who not all but some will return to their previous activities. Meanwhile Hamas will keep attacking the borders. As you can see in the article border attacks are not taken with seriousness. I guess Israel considers that border do not threaten their sovereignty. So #1 thats why!
6. The terrorists' modus operandi.
MikeB   (04.17.08)
"two terrorists approach the fence in order to plant explosive devices. Meanwhile, the bulk of the Palestinian force remained well-hidden and was lying in wait." Our response should be: Call an airstrike to napalm the entire area. Then send in our boys. Is that too difficult to figure out?
7. Do not fight with one hand chained behind your back.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (04.17.08)
The failure of Israel and the United States, as well as Europe, to see that the world is in a state of war is characterised by the seasonal birth of "peace initiatives." That Israel has convinced itself that "peace is an option," even "the only option," in spite of the fact that its enemies are actively engaged in preparing its destruction, is one of the astonishing phenomena of our times. The Arabs read the signs coming from Israel correctly, and act accordingly. On the one hand, they are arming themselves to the teeth and preparing for war and, on the other hand, they talk "peace" and occasionally release "peace plans," which aim at turning Israel into an indefensible narrow strip of land that can be conquered in a single attack. We should have the courage to face reality. We should go to war and fight with one single goal – a total victory on the terrorists. We will have to fight in order to rebuild our deterrence. We will have to fight for our survival. The medias should be kept away from the battlefield until the army has finished its job. The civilians collaborating with the terrorists, the “human shields”, should be treated as soldiers without uniforms. The war should be short and cruel to the enemy. Victory is at that price as explained at : http://xrl.us/biz8x
8. araB & islamiC terrorism must be stopped internationally
Laura ,   Carmiel   (04.17.08)
before it is too late. The sooner the Israelis & the rest of the free world understands this, the better off it will be. They know how to DESTROY, not how to add anything of value to the world. Their billions have brought 2 Nobel prizes or so; what an accomplishment. They want to rule by killing, beheading & other intimidation tactics. STOP THEM NOW!
9. Hmas Tactics
David Feigenbaum ,   Netanya, Israel   (04.17.08)
Every time we go into Gaza and then pull back without eliminating Hamas we teach them how to fight us. Our government is criminally responsible for any subsequent deaths of our soldiers.
10. Olmert is our biggest liability.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (04.17.08)
The Olmert-Livni-Barak combination is the IDF's main liability. This gov't. is why we are increasingly vulnerable. We are losing control of our southern broder because the IDF has it's hands tied behind it's back by political interference from our loser politicians. It's pointless to talk about military strategy, tactics, etc. when the real problem is political.
11. Neighbourhood bully boys are worried
Chanalau, Tova ,   London, UK   (04.17.08)
Just so long as nobody stands up to them the local thugs are happy. The moment some of them get a well-deserved bloody nose then suddenly these cry-babies are calling foul and demanding that the rules be changed. And in the meantime, to show what heroic fighters these pathetic slimes are they murder a score of civillians and unarmed pressmen.
12. i told u before .. there is no decision makers in israel
Jalal ,   Gaza   (04.17.08)
many yrs ago israel said that hizbulla is some terrorists "trying to kill us" then israel give land to hizbulla few yrs later israel also said that palestinians are terrorists "trying to kill us" and also israel give land to palestinians now israel said hamas are terrorists "trying to kill us" and soon or later they will give hamas a land and when u put iran on that equation i cannt see israel .. can u ??
13. Great analysis, but wrong
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (04.17.08)
Ben Ishay writes that Hamas wants calm and thinks rocket attacks on civilians are ineffective. 12 hours later they fire 30 rockets. Ishay just doesn't get it. Thanks to the destruction of Gush Katif, Hamas received weapons, international support and territory to become a real army. They are now practicing attacks for the real war. Hamas attack Sderot because they are making the lives of 100000 Israelis impossible, causing them to emigrate. They attack the Kibbutzim knowing that eventually they will hit a nursery so that even Olmert and Barak will have to attack. During the IDF attack on Gaza, Hamas will draw the IDF into the Arab cities where both IDF and Arab "civilian" casualties will be high. Arabs in Israel (including Judea and Samaria) seeing that you can attack the IDF and enraged by the deaths of "civilians" will join the war, using the weapons they received from Olmert and Bush. Hezbolla will join and use the massive amount of weapons they have received under UNIFIL protection, as Nasralla declared today. That is Hamas' strategy.
14. Thanks for the tip
Ahmed ,   Gaza city   (04.17.08)
