6. As foreseen, with or without Carter, nothing has changed.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (04.21.08)
When Israel pulled out of Gaza, the world waited to see what the Palestinians would make of it, as a prelude to their having a full state including the West Bank. The first thing the Palestinians did was smash all the greenhouses the settlers had built, instead of using them to aid their economy. Then they turned Gaza into a mini-terror state, launching a war against Israel that continues to this day. And now they wonder why life in Gaza is so wretched, when it could have flourished. To those who say we should not isolate Hamas: Hamas isolated itself, with its aggression not only against Israel but also against other Palestinians. When the aggression will stop, the isolation will stop. But the aggression will never stop as long as Palestinian extremists continue to enjoy support from their self-righteous cheering section, which has chapters all over the world and in many universities and trade unions as explained at : http://xrl.us/bi5da
7. no unilateral ceasefire with Israel due to 'IDF's aggression
Psalms 83 ,   Selah   (04.21.08)
Me thinks the shoe is on the other foot.... Hamas keeps poking the israeli bear with qassams to illictit IDF responces. stop the terror and qassams and IDF won't nave a need to respond ....Very simple Israel gave Hamas a period of a year with little or no responce to qassams ... Hamas did not recognize that gesture and kept firin qassams.... a sleeping bear will take so much poking before it takes decisive action !
8. Khaled Mashaal has made a fool of Carter
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (04.21.08)
Carter has accused Israel of terrorism and blames Israel for the appalling, but home grown disaster in Gaza. This situation is the direct result of the Camp David "Peace" Agreement between Israel and Egypt. Menahem Begin didn't want that cesspool of terror but wanted it return to Egypt. Sadat too refused it and Begin gave in to Carter and now we are saddled with the mess and carry the blame because of our actions of self defense. Amazing, there are 1.5 billion Muslims and Israel, with a population or 7 million, is the aggressor!

they won't recognize ours. Go to hell Mehshall, Hamas etc.
12. Hamas accepts better offensive position for war
JPS ,   Efrat   (04.21.08)
Gee, great. Hamas is willing to set up its base behind the old '67 border. At the same time, he wants his country but refuses to make peace. What does Meshal really mean? That he wants an independent country in the west bank and gaza to use as a base for attacking Israel. We Israelis are often stupid, but not that stupid. Meshal should note that Meretz may barely have 3 seats left in the next Knesset. The votes in Israel are going to the harder liners who can smell a rat for what it is.
13. Hamas
Naftali   (04.21.08)
This is a good laugh. Hamas can't even keep a truce with Fatah for 10 minutes, even one they signed in the "holy city of Mecca"
14. Palestinians will never change, they are lost
Johnny ,   Stockholm Sweden   (04.21.08)
15. Harsh Attacks?
R.Alkalai ,   USA   (04.21.08)
Some things are just obvious: the arabs will never stop their attacks until they wipe out Israel, take it over and the kill off all the Jews; this is what they have wanted all along. The world will blame Israel for simply existing and trying to defend herself. So, why continue to cherry pick them off in a fruitless game of tit for tat? Level Gaza to ashes, and take out Assad, Mashaal and the other leaders. The only way to end this nonsense is to completely destroy them. Let world opinion pound sand. None of these other nations would ever stand for this themselves, Can you picture Russia, China, the USA, and the others standing for this? They will blame Israel anyway. Israel might as well just do it already.
16. How Benevolent Of Hamas
Bill Foonman ,   Jacksonville, USA   (04.21.08)
Why give Hamas the time of day? It's just a matter of time before they are a forgotten blip in a long history of dysfunctional Arab history. Carter now knows that he wasted his time and he can join the rest of the civilized world which long ago gave up on these neanderthals.
17. How dare they make conditions!
Chaya ,   Bat Yam, Israel   (04.21.08)
Who the hell do they think they are??? They are just a bunch of terrorists/hoodlums/gangsters with whom there should be no 'negotiating.' It is Israel who should be doing the demanding; but this govt doesn't have the balls!
18. too bad Mashaal...
Safia   (04.21.08)
come to Gaza, and watch what your stubborn mind done...
19. Mashall-10 year truce
bear ,   zefat   (04.21.08)
When are our so-called leaders going to wake up and realize that they're whipping a dead horse? If they want peace, they've got to make it with strength and force. They simply don't understand any other language.

22. Why not?
David   (04.21.08)
Considering the way Olmert and Co. are willing to give half of the country away, it’s not surprising that Hamas thinks their proposal has a chance to be accepted by the gullible Israelis. If not Olmert than Peres or Bailin or some of the other fools will be willing to accept such a tempting deal.. And while we are at it , why not pay for their medical care as well.
23. You were bought cheaply, Jimmy
Steve ,   Atlanta USA   (04.21.08)
But, then again, that's not a big surprise.
24. Hamas can go to Hell
Brod ,   USA   (04.21.08)
Israel should tell Hamas to go to Hell. Who do they think they are? First, they have no right usurping Israel from the Jews. Second, Israel belongs to the Jews since the time of their forefathers 4000 years. It is the Islamist-Jihadists that should return to their historic homeland in southwestern Arabia where they originated in the 7th century. Israel should defend every inch of their liberated biblical and historic homeland irrespective of the shouts and craps of the world of Anti-Semites and Islamist-Jihadists, the dark forces of the world. It is time for Israel to have a strong Right Wing Government that can defend and protect Israel from its enemies and deter Israel's enemies from ever thinking, planning and attacking Israel.
25. To Brod: Israel Needs Change and Fast
Dave Levy ,   Los Angeles, CAUSA   (04.21.08)
To Brod: I understand your thinking., but, should Israel react to Hamas? Israel talks too much, and does too little in my opinion. Israel is still in the driver's seat by far, but it's lead is whittling down. Hamas is asking the impossible, full right of return, pre-67 borders, Jerusalem. Even UN242 doesn't expect that, nor the Road Map. Israeli newspapers are having a field day, as are the peace now (war later groups). It should just ignore, and get on with the real meat of this crisis. As far as Hamas, each Kassam should result in another Pals city wasted..and I mean destroyed. Move the border..inward, and beef up the line. A Bar Lev line would be fine with me..or something akin. Defensive positions, mixed with offense. Harken their threats, but pick and choose any counter measures. Israel needs to rethink it's Condi policy..she is, after all, a lameduck moron..she lost in Iraq, has no policy to Iran, and is needling Israel to it's death. ( Philadelphi Corridor ).. this is not just about who governs, it's about Israel's overall posture..so far defeatist, defensive and lacking in any sort of vision about it's future. It's really a shame this Passover. Israel must become pro-active and decisive. otherwise, see more lethal attacks by Hamas, Fatah, and all the other Iranian and Syrian surrogates. Remember, Iran IS working on it's first atomic bomb.
26. Eliminate Hamas Now

GZLives   (04.22.08)

29. Personal ID
Gideon Reader   (04.22.08)
How Israel should be able to recognize Hamas: Hey look at all of those dead Palsavages with their tounges out , eye rolled back into their head and their feet up like bugs. There. THAT is the BEST way to recognize them.
