1. UN Amassador - RIGHT ON!!!
Hinda ,   San Francisco Area   (04.25.08)
Ok so I was a teenager 30 years ago and that was a popular phrase. However, the Ambassador was "spot on" in calling Carter a bigot. Carter is and has been a supporter of modern day terrorism since his days as the President with the lowest EVER approval rating (even bush jr. is still higher in his approval ratings than carter is). Shame we can't impeach him - but he IS a true traitor and a seditionist which the US has laws against that need to be enacted. I hope it happens that he is disgraced and imprisoned. Even Amy is ashamed.
2. It's rather obvious that the TWO sides do not wish peace (or
me ,   here   (04.25.08)
at least those who speak the loudest). Carter stands in the middle, trying to bring opposites together and at the same time, of course, being battered from both sides... Let me say he knows the game of the negotiator, and he does not need to heed the comments of war mongers on ANY side.
3. carter
sas ,   israel   (04.25.08)
nothng new and we should not waste words n time on this man. no one pays attention to him anyway.
4. stop it already
uri   (04.25.08)
its over. peanut brittle is gone. hopefully his next project will be to pick up a hammer and put a nail in his hand.or hit his finger with a hammer.
5. The Gazan “innocent civilians”
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (04.25.08)
Are the Gazans “innocent civilian victims” ? A recent rally proves that Gazans stand with Hamas, terrorism. “Jews! We have already dug your graves,” declared Hamas official Mushir al-Masri at a half-million strong rally of support for Hamas in Gaza’s central square. The Hamas official was joined by the terrorist group’s top brass, some via teleconference, at a massive show of support for the Islamist movement that unequivocally broadcast a message of support for terrorism and the ongoing war with the Jewish state among Gaza’s Arabs. “ Estimates ranged from 250,000 to 500,000. The Gulf Times reported “at least 500,000” while others reported “from 300,000-500,000.” The New York Times, Associated Press and AFP agreed that the rally was much larger than a Fatah rally held earlier this month, which was reportedly attended by 250,000 as described at : http://xrl.us/bjsw5
6. To...you there # 2
Semper Fi! ,   San Diego, USA   (04.25.08)
First of all who in this world needs anything for the worst US Prez ever!! The one guilty of having almost destroyed the US Military and weakened the US position all over the world. Noone asked this antisemitic senile moron anything...He's looking to get some arab bribes ... Secondly, you, there, hide in your hole and...shut up!! Can you imagine Obama as a president with the retard Carter as a Counselor...Guys, start learning to swim....
7. definitely something smells wrong with Jimmy Carter -
Michael   (04.25.08)
Jimmy Carter certainly has blood on his lips from kissing his "good friend" Yasser Arafat so much. There aren't even any Arabs who consider the corrupt homosexual pedophile terrorist Yasser Arafat to have been their "good friend". Carter is either mentally retarded or evil, most likely a mixture a both.
8. it's pathetic how jews scrutinize even their own friends!
Khaled ,   Amman, Jordan   (04.25.08)
all carter did was meeting the political leaders of hamas in order to find a peaceful exist for the jews out of their current blood swamp... yet in return, instead of thanking the man for his effort, he's being portrayed as an evil traitor, when he's the one who spared israel years & years of fighting with egypt!
9. Carter a bigot
I.Kemp ,   Nahariya   (04.25.08)
Gillerman is right of course but a man of his stature should not dignify Carter by as much as a mention. Carter is the ultimate "has been". He carries no influence, no authority and is in the pockets of the Arabs. Please not the Gulfstream 5 that he was travelling in>
10. Having Israel as a friend you don't need any more enemys
Jack Smith ,   US   (04.25.08)
11. Gillerman: a bigot shaked hands with Jew killer
(04.25.08)
bad manner from a diplomat and supremacy of a racist.
12. Khaled No. 8
(04.25.08)
Hamas murders people in the name of Islam, if you think they're your friend because you're also a Muslim you will learn the hard way.
13. 10 - "Jack Smith" - welcome to YNet!
(04.25.08)
I'm sure you're always such a lovely guest when you visit others. Good luck with your moral development.
14. Whose Friend Khaled?
Thomas   (04.25.08)
When the US Congress wanted to pass a resolution recognizing the Armenian genocide committed by Turk Muslims, Carter condemned the idea, saying "it's not helpful." Plus it's embarassing for Muslims. When asked about the Sudanese genocide being committed by Arabs, Carter said there's no proof of genocide. That's the position only the Arab League takes. Everything Carter does is to the benefit of Muslims because you pay him. He's not our friend. If he was he would have debated his book with a Jew. A book which he said, ironically, was to forster more debate in the US about the ME situation. Finally, Egypt has broken every point in the peace agreement so far with the exception of actually going to war with Israel. Is that because of Carter or because Egypt doesn't want to lose again?
15. calling names a big mistake
benn   (04.25.08)
16. Ambassador Gillerman, Calls A Bigot A Bigot
Not Jewish ,   USA   (04.25.08)
Jimbo is also a liar, a traitor and corrupt to the core. The Arab Lobby pays off Jimbo.
17. How Can He Possibly Be A Bigot?
David H ,   Marietta USA   (04.25.08)
He is a liberal Democrat (by definition, liberals cannot be accused of, and are incapable of being bigots, just ask Bill and Hillary Clinton, Barak Obama, William Fulbright), AND he won a Nobel Peace Prize.
18. to #6 from #2: -You make me smile!
me ,   here   (04.25.08)
I hardly think Carter is looking to get some Arab bribes: - )! Neither any of the distinguished members of "The Elders" organization to which he belongs. War mongers on both sides cannot, not surprisingly, agree with a negotiator who tries to make everyone win a little in stead of everyone keep losing (lives, blood and money). Carter's initiative may have a chance as good as a snowball in hell, which is my personal guess, but I DO respect the man for trying! Finally, no one carries responsibility but for his very own actions. Whether there is war or peace between the parties, Carter did what his conscience told him.
19. I understand your point #8 !
me ,   here   (04.25.08)
It is true that the time we're living in gives little room for naivitee or optimism, but in the name of justice, Carter did a few good things in the past - and he is trying to do some more...
20. Khaled, Carter is no Jewish friend; he gets paid by Arabs.
AK   (04.25.08)
He was a lousy President; he brought us Khomeini and 20% mortgages and he is an anti-Semite who advised terrorist Arafat how to speak to Americans. While he was a POTUS, his drunken brother took bribes from Libya; now Carter can do the collecting himself from anybody in the Arab world. So the anti-semite Carter finally found himself a job that pays well and he can enjoy.
21. #8
Jane   (04.25.08)
He was there for the photo op. It was Sadat and Begin. If the Palestinians had a Sadat, we would all be at peace.
22. to #20: Could you please specify WHAT bribes Carter gets
me ,   here   (04.25.08)
and from WHOM exactly? Thank you!
23. carter is the president who made peace harder to achive
zionist forever   (04.25.08)
In 1979 he preasured Israel to accept Sadats demands of 100% of Sinai and the destuction of all the settlements there. Neither side wanted Gaza with over 1 million palestians at that time wo Sadat left it in Israels hands just to make problems for Israel Begin went to Camp David with plans to keep something but Carter took Sadats side & Israel paid the price. If Carter had taken Begins side back then and said to Sadat Israel must be allowed to keep at least a small percentage of Sinai considering that it was the victim of Egyptian aggresion. If Carter had taken Begins side doing deals today would be much easier because the arabs would not be so insistant on all or nothing and the more liberal right amongst Israeli voters who are against a 100% withdraw from areas may say Israel keeps something they will support it making things easier politicly on Israels side. Instead the arabs have insisted on the all or nothing policy with confidence that Israels left and probably the US will accept their demands. Carter is the individual who has made peace much harder to achive and allowing him to apoint himself savior of the region would only turn danger into disaster when he got it all wrong.
24. 8
zionist forever   (04.25.08)
Khalid Carter has done lots of things for arabs & muslims nothing for jews. The 1979 Egypt / Israel so called peace treaty he negotiated gave Egypt everything Israel nothing and the Egyptians constantly break terms of the treaty and even now after nearly 30 years its at best a cold treaty we are not friends. He took Arafats side and taught him what to say & do to change public opinion of him from terrorist & revolutionry to a respectable leader even if the man never recognised Israel and saw oslo as a trojan horse and how it was stage 1 to the liberation of all Palestine. We have accepted more Hamas hudnas over the years than I can remeber and the only reason they want them is when they have been weakened by Israel so they call for a time out allowing them to rapair all the damage Israel has done to them then they come back stronger. He thinks that a man who harbours a variaty of terror groups ( Assad ) is a man who is only interested in peace. The man even tried to justify the rockets being fired into Israel saying that more palestians are killed everytime one of yours is killed. We killed you so you killed more of us... very sympathetic isnt he? If its bad for Israel Carter loves the idea and he isnt looking to broker deals because he cares about Israel he is doing it to get the arabs what they want. The man just cant get used to the idea that he isnt president anymore just a nobody who can demand any kind of diplomatic respect and is not in any kind of position of power. He is an enemy colaperator not a peacemaker.
25. Gillerman calls Carter 'a bigot'
Ziggy ,   Ottawa   (04.25.08)
Just to remind Mr. Gillerman that "diplomacy is the employment of tact to gain strategic advantage, one set of tools being the phrasing of statements in a non-confrontational, or polite manner."
26. To #22 "Me" (Actually You)
Not Jewish ,   USA   (04.25.08)
Just type the words,"jimmy carter and the arab lobby" into your computer search engine and you will find lots of information on the Arab money that funds Jimmy Carter's terrorist support center. I lived and suffered under the Carter administration with it's 22% interest rates, sky high unemployment, the Iranian hostage crisis and Carter's weak, shameful response. I know about Carter's friend, Burt Lance's banking scandles, I felt the collective national depression that came with the hopelessness of the Carter years. Jimmy Carter wrecked my USA before he even got around to screwing Israel. Carter does what he's paid to do, he is a corrupt and evil man. I am determined to outlast that vile, old goat.
27. Carter, who had done "good things" as a former president,?
Squalid Ibn Harman ,   Qtir   (04.26.08)
Carter never did ANYTHING good. He was a parasite in the accords with Sadat and Begin. Carter was totally worthless. Instead of joining Russia to fight the Taliban, he left furtile terrorist ground for Osama, fostered the rise of Khomeini, failed with the US hostages in Teheran, destroyed the hopes of USA athletes at the 1980 Olympics, has supported terrorists all over the world, worked to undermine USA interest and foreign policy, etc. 19 former aids quit on the "maliscious" old man in Jan 2007. He has been rebuked by Congress and Carter legislation is being discuss to censure the maliscious old fart. They are also talking about cutting the $19 dollar support per year for he Carter Center. What a total embarassment and failure.
28. #27 Correction - Congress to cut $19 Million for carter cent
Squalid Ibn Harman ,   Qtir   (04.26.08)
29. If Carter received funding from Saudi Arabia, as the article
me ,   here   (04.26.08)
says, then perhaps Israel should give a contribution in order to get even: - )! As usual, Israel is far behind in its PR work abroad... I'm sure Carter would not have any objections to any such offer if it were ever made... NOW, I don't think that the Elder Organizaiton, to which he also belongs, receives funding from the Arabs... it's an initiative under the umbrella of the UN... I am not surprised at all to find a few comments by Carter that a number of Israelis do not see objectively on the issue of peace with the Arabs... It is quite enough to read some of the talkbacks on this site to realize that hard liners exist on BOTH sides, who do not see negotioations and compromise as an alternative, although, in reality, such compromise can AND MUST be sufficiently monitored and sufficient international forces put in action to implement and up hold whatever has been agreed on. Some Israelis and Arabs are so narrow in their perception of the conflict, that they both say: -It's my way or the highway!!! Obviously this does not work. It is painful to make concessions and to compromise with someone you do not have any good reasons to trust - but I believe it can be made under scrutinous supervision of international monitors... As it is now, far too many people on both sides see only one way to think and act - their own. While, in fact, ther are always more than two alternatives in a conflict... Reality contains a third way... And a fourth. And a fifth... It is only when we narrow down our minds that we cling to "the one solution - mine" and refuse to see that there are other, not yet trodden ways that can lead to the desired results in an other way that does not have to include conflict... I do not ask anyone to be naive nor irresponsibly optimistic in any way! It is the interest of both sides in a conflict that an agreement is closely monitored and upheld by forces that are not directly involved... You do not need give me a list of the UN sins and failures now, nor tell me that it is a tooth-less tiger. What I do mean is, that if there is a will, there is a way, to supervise and implement an agreement and to make it work.
30. Carter the bigot
Spencer ,   Israel   (04.27.08)
Yes! Well said Mr. Ambassador Gillerman. This peanut farmer may have done something "good" is the distant past , but today, he IS a bigot who collaborates with killers and gets financed by them, and he's a stain on the USA. As for Beilin's call for the ambassador to be recalled, this just shows how far the left will go to appease the Arabs. Just as Carter is a stain on the USA, so is Beilin a stain on Israel. My advice to Beilin is..."Better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you're a fool, than to open it and leave them in no doubt!"
