It's for this reason Guantamano Bay was such a moral and strategic blunder (whatever the short-term tactical success was) Al-Qaeda terrorists fight along several fronts; literal and virtual and the West must confront them on all of them. Al-Qaeda is smart. It recruits middle-class and literate people to do its evil. That means language and communication are key in their strategy. By finally denying them the aura of legitimate fighters in a war we can make serious ground against them. The next step would be put them in court and try them as regular murderers; thus they are reduced from awe-inspiring freedom fighters to muderous gangsters. We should have done that in 2001 but it's better later than never. And don't forget, Rome, Britain, and America did not conqueror the world by fighting all and sundry; the first divided the opposition and then they conquerored it throuhg a combination of arms, law, and incentives. I hope you see that now the America is on the right course (after 7 years on the wrong foot) to finally achiveing victory against al-Qaeda.
