6. The terrorists are trying to get us to kill their children.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (04.26.08)
While Israel has built a shelter system in Sderot in order to protect lives, Hizbullah did the opposite in Lebanon in 2006 - because Hizbullah wanted to increase the amount of its civilian deaths. That's because our culture is one of 'choose life', while the Imams encourage them to look at their children as martyrs. This is what makes it so difficult for the democracies, the terrorists are trying to get us to kill their children. We should be prepared to fight them with no other consideration than beat them as explained at : http://xrl.us/bi9r6
7. IDF switches to arrests?!..
Alex ,   UK   (04.26.08)
..that is another sign of Hamas weakness. First, at least some of them don't fight to the death anymore, - don't see a reason probably. Second, IDF has better intelligence, which means Gazans give information on Hamas. Siege, robust defence, and targeted operations do work. Just more pre-emption please.
8. too bad he took her with him to his "workplace"

hamas is an evil child killer. they will try do >everything< to make israel look bad, even exposing their own children to danger.

Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (04.26.08)
People get killed, including civilians. While this may be unfortunate, it is also unavoidable, especially in the circumstances in Gaza where military operations are sometimes carried out in civilian areas. I think we should all realize that the IDF does it's best to limit civilian casualties - and were that not the case, casualties would be in the hundreds, not one or two. You can look at conflicts all over the world & you will find far more civilian casualties than in this conflict. A case could be made that the IDF takes too many risks & endangers our own soldiers to avoid civilian casualties & that the rules of engagement should be changed. After all, the lives of our soldiers are worth as much as any other life & our primary responsibility is to our own. I would also comment that the headline itself is a form of propaganda which seeks to paint the IDF as an immoral killer of children & civilians - that the journalists are less than objective & fair. Rather than stress a civilian casualty, they should question why operations within civilian areas are necessary - it is the Palestinians themselves who have transformed civilian areas into combat zones.
14. 14year old terrorist daughter
Jeffrey ,   Boston   (04.26.08)
terrorist daughter in a few years will grow into a terrorist producing baby machine as spoken by Khaled Meshal in Damascus several weeks ago.
15. The price of jihad
Marcel ,   Florida   (04.26.08)
Hamas hdie behind their women to fight Israel . It makes for propaganda against Israel when their children take the bullet for them.
16. WHAT WARRIOR INVOLVES HIS OWN FAMILY?
petra ,   USA   (04.26.08)
SOME 'HERO' CAN'T REMOVE HIMSELF FROM HIS FAMILY TO SECURE THEIR SAFETY? BRAINS WERE NOT HIS STRONG POINT, COME TO THINK OF IT, NO BRAINS AT ALL OR COMPASSION FOR HIS FAMILY. GLAD HE'S DEAD.
17. #5: observer, your Arab logic is amazing
AK   (04.26.08)
You Gazans haven't observed even an hour of a ceasefire; you shoot missles into Israel and then holler every time Israel shoots back. As far as I am concerned, Israeli military is far too gently with you; you deserve to be wacked and really bad.
18. Why is YNet making accusations before knowing the facts?
JAy3 ,   Israel   (04.26.08)
We all know how unreliable Palastinian sources are, yet YNet keeps reporting them without any investigation. Is this professional journalism or propaganda? The headline and accusations are inapropriate without the facts. The AP should also be held accountable!

Said ,   London, UK   (04.26.08)
Your points are valid - and even though I disagree with much of Israeli policy - I do believe the IDF doesn't target civilians intentionally. But that's not the real problem. How are the two sides to be reconciled when their children are being killed?
20. Three issues here
Reality ChecBright k ,   BaGolan   (04.26.08)
1. Why was this child, like so many other others, deliberately put in harm's way by their terrorist families to be used as human shields so murderers can escape. I realize that girls have no 'value' in Islam yet no world angst?Bright side? hamas will 'reward' the family by giving them a few litres of the fuel they steal. 2. Why does ynet put any credence in "palestinian sources" when it has been repeatedly proven that it is simply pallywood at its finest. 3. Why is Ynet not using its own sources (other than jihadist ali waked) who can at least make pretend they are independent objective journalists rather than fabricators looking to promote the combined Tel Aviv leftist/hamas agenda?

Reconciliation with Islam is impossible. The false fights against the truth and the false will disappear so that Israel will live in peace. Once the Arab world is free of Islam we will have real peace, not the counterfeit nonsense president Bush is selling.
22. Wasn't it..
Micha   (04.26.08)
take your child to work day? Strange that the thug would've had his daughter involved...But, aren't the arabs proud of their dead? aren't they martyrs? I thought the goal was to get as many of their own players killed..isn't that a grand victory? idiots. When you teach your children to hate..like that mouse and bee did, then expect to die. that's what you feed on. So we'll bring it to you. Enough of your murderous, thug ways. Got it?

Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (04.26.08)
You ask how the two sides can be reconciled. It's impossible to answer the question without writing a book. The short answer is that I don't believe any reconciliation is possible, at least not for several generations. I've written this often - we have irreconcilable differences which make a political solution unrealistic. Further, developments in the Muslim world suggest some very pessimistic scenarios. I haven't the slightest doubt that this is an ideologic conflict - or it would have been solved quite some time ago.
24. Well well well!
GUH   (04.26.08)
A fourteen year old girl? That's another low for you, IDF. But surely there are those people here who congratulate you for your bloodlust. Even better: those who blame Hamas for your atrocity, contrary to their attitude yesterday. Mariam Marouf: rest in peace. Hassan Marouf: may the lord have mercy on you.
25. They should of thought of their families before engaging
Eyal ,   Tel Aviv   (04.26.08)
into terrorism. The Pals are so vain; they thought they kicked Israel out of the strip with violence and that Israel was afraid...the strongest army in the world, rightttt. After the pullout, Israel didn’t go after anyone in Gaza. Today, we have; rocket fire, terrorists killing Israelis, a buildup of more terror within the strip. Israel then goes after the terrorists because they are DEFENDING their civilians (tit for tat, which is so stupid), because the Pals are a bunch of morons, who can't make good use of anything. Israel will re-occupy Gaza soon and the Pals will cry to the world, like a broken record player. haven't you heard that before..
26. 13 our primary responsibility is to our own
(04.26.08)
that speaks volumes. Israel puts its frightened soldiers armed to the tooth in a hostile populated area. what do you think of the soldiers' rules of engagement; of course mind their own safety and slaughter others.
27. The fact is they all become terror breeders
Johnny ,   Stockholm Sweden   (04.26.08)
Palestinian women are nothing more than breeders. Their selfhate have made them to machines who are contempt with their role in life being that of a breeder.
28. GUH hamas themselves don't blame israel
odles ,   jerusalem israel   (04.26.08)
they freely admit to using children as human shields. they hope they are hurt because it servestheir pr interests and brings more recruits: Hamas MP Fathi Hammad: We Used Women and Children as Human Shields Al-Aqsa TV on February 29, 2008. [The enemies of Allah] do not know that the Palestinian people has developed its [methods] of death and death-seeking. For the Palestinian people, death has become an industry, at which women excel, and so do all the people living on this land. The elderly excel at this, and so do the mujahideen and the children. This is why they have formed human shields of the women, the children, the elderly, and the mujahideen, in order to challenge the Zionist bombing machine. It is as if they were saying to the Zionist enemy: "We desire death like you desire life." http://www.memritv.org/clip/en/1710.htm
29. #28 selective MEMRI
observer   (04.26.08)
MEMRI's stance is that it is opposed to Islamic fundamentalism, not Islam itself, although the integrity of this position may be questioned because of links on MEMRI's website to certain evangelical Christian organizations who take a harder line on Islam. Yigal Carmon, MEMRI's founder, is a former advisor on terrorism to the Israeli Prime Ministers, Yitzhak Shamir and Yitzhak Rabin, so he actually worked for both Labor and Likud governments. Praise for MEMRI should be taken with a grain of salt since it is almost always motivated by politics, not the quantity or quality of MEMRI's work.

(04.26.08)
memri, whatever its affiliations, sir, only reiterates what the arabs say....pearls of their mouth. nothing less, nothing more. what is the difference between what memri chose to disclose that arabs are saying, and what meshaal said during his daughter's marriage ceremony to his cousin. and i quate; "her womb will be the womb of the next jihad". how is that different from memri?
