1. I hope Israel acknowledges what you say very quiclkly!
Keren ,   Israel-SP   (05.02.08)
The time is about to be overdue. We are already near a very dangerous line you are describing so well.
2. The Nightmare Scenario That Could Happen
Wisconsin Marshall ,   USA   (05.02.08)
Once again Haim Misgav is on the mark. The resulting binational state would be a new Lebanon. Only the postion of the newly degraded Jews would be worse than the Lebanese Christians. Who would control the national army? We must fight this slippery slope with all our might.
3. Exactly
Lou ,   LA USA   (05.02.08)
Someone has been listening and watching. If he can comprehend what is happening, why can't more Israelis comprehend?
4. I couldn't agree more Dr. Misgav!!
Sam ,   NY, USA   (05.02.08)
Our neighbors do not want peace... they just want more and more land! Why do we give land to those who hate us most? A recent poll showed that an overwhelming majority of 'Palestinians' supported suicide bombings in Israel. Why should we give them more land??
5. Well Said, Dr. Misgav.
MK ,   Philadelphia USA   (05.02.08)
Direct and to the point.
6. israel MUST go to the International Court in the Hague and
Rivkah   (05.02.08)
demand ALL of the land given to the Jews by the League of Nations under the Balfour Declaration, including Trans-Jordan.
7. Fantasy
Wayne ,   usa   (05.02.08)
So end this government and have election,. Be good to change the system of government to direct representation as well.
8. A very dangerous fantasy.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (05.02.08)
The consequences of which are the opposite of peace - concessions only fuel increased aggression while weakening our strategic position.
9. A truly smart man
David ,   USA / ISRAEL   (05.02.08)
I am glad to find out that there is at least one educated man in Israel that has any common sense . Mr Misgav should run for office and replace those amateurs who are destroying Israel.
10. Never should have left Lebanon, STUPID DECISION!
Bunnie Meyer ,   Santa Monica,CA USA   (05.02.08)

Perhaps today will be our chance for survival when the police will pay their "respects" at our prime minister's home on Balfour Street.
12. committee to disalect the prime minister
Nossen Tzvi ,   RECHAVYA   (05.02.08)
A few good men like Dr. Misgav could ensure our Chaim in Eretz Yisrael!
13. Stating the Obvious
Paul ,   Jeruslaem   (05.02.08)
Every action of gesture of concession of Israel towards their enemies has ALWAYS resulted in the EXACT oppisite of their intended purpose, which was for peace. Yet, Israeli Ieaders just keep on increasing the pace towards insecurity and pre-Holocust type mistakes. There is only one answer, declare the Land of Israel to be eternally Jewish, and destroy, expel, and annex while we have the still have the power against all those who cannot accept this fact. Israelis just cannot comprehend that secretly when we behave like this, they all support us secretly under the table.
14. The best article I've read in Israeli media - Ever
Johnny ,   Stockholm Sweden   (05.02.08)
Finally.
15. A pointless article pandering to sycophantic Ynet TBers
Smith ,   TA, Israel   (05.02.08)
Yesterday it was Uzi Arad and today its Haim Misgav. What gives here? So what's the solution Dr Misgav? Conscript everyone into the army conqueor Jordan, Sinai, flatten Egypt, nuke Iran, destroy Syria, and conqeuor Lebanon? OK. So now we have our empire. Wait. Who's going to run the economy with the all the men vairously occupaying, guarding the new frontiers, and skirmishing with those pesky types who just refuse to recognize they have been conquerored? I guess will have to enslave labourers, bring in foreigners to maintain the hi-tech industry, and forceably bring extra Jews in from the Diaspora to replace all the fallen in the Great Israel Empire building war. Too bad the USA would wipe us off the face of the earth if we even tried it, huh? The problem is your fantasy is worse than land for peace. Like democracy, land for peace, is the least worst option. People like Dr. Misgav endanger Israel by polarizing Jews and Israelis in ways that are too reminiscient of pre-civil war Spain. The Arabs won't have to do a thing. Before Dr. Misgav and his ilk can embark on their God-given empire building adventure or the moderates can negotiate some land away for peace we'll go to war with each other and tear each other to bits like we did during Roman occupation. All the Arabs will have to do is watch.
16. Greatest Threat to Jews
George ,   Beirut- Lebanon   (05.02.08)
Prior to the establishment of the Zionist ideology and the subsequent creation of Israel, Jews were a thriving community in Lebanon, one of the 18 recognized religions in Lebanon. Jews worldwide should realize that Zionism is and will forever be their greatest threat. Time will come when democracy would cease to be the shield for the existence of Israel. Time will come when Israel will be only viewed as a Jewish Iran or Jewish KSA. If you don't wont to listen to the "Arab" ,listen to the numerous Jews who oppose Zionism, listen to what Edwin Samuel Montagu already said at the beginning of the 20th century.
17. absolutely right
Daniel ,   Switzerland   (05.02.08)
No more easy presents to Palestinians and Arabs countries! Israel must demonstrate from now on strengh and steadiness and send a clear message outwards in order to safeguard its territorial integrity and sovereignty. If the present government ins't aware of the immanent mistake of giving land for a promised fragile peace, a change must happen soon. A real peace- deal needs strong facts on the long term, and must be accepted by a strong majority in the Israeli population. Short-term, or even unilateral decisions are a darger for Israel survival.

The biggest theat to Israel is the likes of you, the arabs with their 20 or so hostile nations! They can`t comprehend to have a Jewish homeland, the only democracy in the region., in their midst. Ask Israeli Arabs, if they prefer to live in Hamastan,Fatahstan or even Lebanon or stay under the "cruel Jewish opression". Think about it...

did you ask for forgivness from all those brutally evicted heroes from Gush Kativ? How can you sleep at night and not feel any regret for this unthinkable crime against our fellow Jews??!! I`m not even talking about the agression and murderous bombardment of Sdetot, Ashkelon and the other Yishuvim bordering Gush Kativ, all a result of this crime of expolsion! If we continue withour capitulation and appeasement policy, we`ll be seeing soon the hords of terrorist sitting in Jaffo and bombarding Shenkin Str.+ and Zfon TA. Maybe that`s when you and your leftist friends will wake up! We are not going to let this happen! Never again!
20. Sedition! Traitor! Coward! War Monger! - Media's terms for
klaus ,   Jerusalem   (05.02.08)
anyone who dares stand up for Israel's right to exist. It's sad you need to be courageous to do so. Hopefully Justice Minister Friedman will continue keeping the Supreme (sic) Court in check - they are THE key to our mess. Nice article
21. #16, "Prior to the establishment of Zionist ideology"
Jake   (05.02.08)
Lebanon did not exist. The country now known as Lebanon is a creation of colonial France in the wake of the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, during which the land was divided into disparate vilayets and a short-lived autonomous area on Mt. Lebanon under French guarantee. Think about that next time you deny Israel's right to exist. You talk about tolerance of minorities, but if Lebanon were really a tolerant society, there would have been more than a handful of Jews living there even if Lebanon were in a state of war with Israel. Facts are facts. In Israel, which has existed in a state of war with the Arabs, one in five Israeli citizens is an Arab. An Arab can run for any office in the government, including Prime Minister, President, and Speaker of the parliament. Perhaps its time you turn your attention to more pressing issues closer to home.

Zionism this, Zionism that... tell me, who has been killing you since the 70s? Your own so-called Arab bretheren. This so called "dangerous ideology" is the most humane thing in the middle east. How revealing it is of the Arab and Muslim xenophobia, fascism and paranoia that their life will not be complete, all 1.1 billion of them, until the tiny state of Israel will not disappear. Yes, I know you're not Muslim, but you've been brainwashed to think like one. If we let you grow and become a majority in Israel you will do unto us what you do to yourselves day after day, year after year, decade after decade, century after century. Fix your own backyard before you lecture other people about "dangerous ideologies".
23. #15, how about fighting?
Danny   (05.02.08)
We haven't given any land to Syria and we've had an utterly silent border for 35 years. We gave up no land to the Palestinians in the West Bank or East Jerusalem since 2002 and we have near silence. Unlike your black and white, either we throw up and hands and surrender or we have to kill everyone, there are alot of options in between. We can fight the Palestinians and Hizbollah without fighting Iran, Egypt, Jordan or Syria - note in the last war they didn't lift a finger. We can bomb strategic targets in Syria without any serious consequences, let alone "being wiped off the face of the earth" by anyone.

The "likes of me" clearly understand how people like you are naturally inclined racists who categorize people into a stereotyped group: "the Arabs who want to hurt Israel" . The "likes of me" know that Israel cannot exist but on the fear from its neighbors . It would be extremely foolish to think that you have the right for Peace without returning the occupied lands !

As for Israeli Arabs, I will ask their relatives who were forced out of their homes because of the massacres perpetrated by the Irgun and Stern, and who currently live as refugees in "Terrorist Arab countries"

Dr. Misgav understans the reality between Israel and its' neighbors. I hope that Israel's politicians will open their eyes before it's too late and is Israel is no longer G-d forbid.
28. Dr Misgav's HATIKVA Party

Return the occupied lands? To whom? Israel offered the Egyptians Gaza and they said they didn't want it. The late King of Jordan said his country, the previous owner of the West Bank, has no interest in it that area. What needs to happen is for the Arabs to invent a new nation that can claim that land.
