1. The good of the nation vs personal good
Brod ,   USA   (05.02.08)
It is not a matter of personal survival. The Leftist government has failed to protect the nation and country from the unrelenting rocket attacks on Israel from Islamist-Jihadist terrorists in Gaza. Hence, they should resign and pave a new election for the nation to elect a government of the people, for the people, from the people and to the people who can effectively protect and defend the nation and country from external attacks and threats and bring normalcy, stability and life in Sderot, Ashkelon and the Negev where the Islamist-Jihadist thugs have been pummeling with rocket attacks unrelentingly.
2. But What Can Be Proven ?
Rube Vogel ,   Jerusalem   (05.02.08)
"Even if there is an iota of truth in them, it is hard to believe that Ehud Olmert would be able to continue serving as prime minister." Truth has nothing to do with it. Olmert is too smart to have left any proof.
3. If Bibi is the alternative then yes he will survive!
Sheila ,   Jerusalem Israel   (05.02.08)
4. Sheila #3
Brod ,   USA   (05.02.08)
The people will make their determination and not the Leftists.
5. ohlmert - will he survive???
sas ,   israel   (05.02.08)
I HOPE NOT. HE SHOULD HAVE GONE A LONG TIME AGO. THE MAN IS CORRUPT, A LIAR A THIEF, DISHONEST.
6. #4 Who is on the left for heavens sake?
Sheila ,   Jerusalem Israel   (05.02.08)
One does not need to be on the left todespise Bibi!! In fact I am closer to Likud in my political beliefs but not with Bibi under any circumstances
7. Olmert has children who need money
Anna ,   NYC, New York   (05.02.08)
He has children abroad who need money. Any father must help children to develope business abroad.
8. will Olmert survive?
alan ,   Texas   (05.02.08)
Lets hope not.
9. Sorry, I can't take this seriously
Ken Besig ,   Israel   (05.02.08)
The Police and the Attorney General are putting on another show for our public. A few days ago, Avigdor Lieberman complained publicly that he was an innocent man being singled out for investigation just for harrassment, so now the Police and Mazuz will talk with Olmert for a few minutes to create the impression that they really don't discriminate, that they investigate everybody. Well the Israeli public is well versed in THAT fraud by the Police. Indeed, may the Fraud Unit should investigate itself!
10. @ title: we all hope NOT!

11. OLMERT MUST GO!!!
Hannah ,   Miami Florida   (05.02.08)
It would be wrong for olmert to stay in the govt as he is a criminal and should be arrested and thrown in prison!
12. Arafat & Olmert both corupt, both hate Israel both survivors
zionist forever   (05.02.08)
The chances of Hamas handing over their guns and saying to the Israel we put up a good fight but best man won in the end and that was you the chance of that happening is higher than the chance of any charges sticking to Olmert. We all know he has commited the crime but he is like a snake and manages to slither out of it everytime just the way he has held this coalition together for so long when people wanted him out less than 1 year after he came to power. Olmert allways seems to have a get out of jail free card up his sleeve so why should it be any different this time? Everytime a charge is made everybody says he must resign and he refuses and somehow we cant make the charges stick so why should this be any different.

Sheila I also cannot stand Bibbi but whats the alternative. We know what the Kadima regime is like .. failed at every level. Barak is not much better and he is the man most directly responsible for keeping Olmert in power because if he pulled Labour out then Olmert wont be able to pull together a coalition no matter who he invites and we would have to get ellections. Liberman a little to radical sounding to be ellectable. Likud led by Moshe Felgin I would prefer but it seems the party has gone for Bibi so whats the alternative? Bibi is the best of a bad bunch.
14. #11 Do you have a room in Miami?
Mark ,   Israel   (05.02.08)
15. INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY!
Tom ,   San Francisco, USA   (05.02.08)
I am against Olmert but I learnt the shameful behaviour of this legislative mafia called Mazuz and company trying to dirt one Likud president. Now it is the turn of a former Likud member in the person of Olmert who is far from being loved among the leftist Israelis, Mazuz being one of them without the shadow of a doubt! I think Israel must put a stop to this legislative mafia who acts only for political reasons!! Are there not more worthy criminal people to chase in Israel than the president of Israel and now the PM, both linked to the Likud when all Israel knows that Mazuz is a leftist of the worst kind! Again, I would like to see Olmert falls but not in the hands of this shameful Mazuz! Why don't we investigate this Mazuz to find some dirt too on his f---g hands!
16. Its not a conspiracy Tom the left can't exist without Olmert
Daniel ,   Formerly Israel   (05.03.08)
The left has effectively been in power for the last fifteen years. Even under a Likud government Leftist policies were being pursued; i.e. River Wye Accords, barrier construction, things that would have been unthinkable under Shamir or Begin, and for fifteen years we've had bloodshed that also was unthinkable uner Shamir. This has made it very difficult for Israelis to stomach voting for the left; no matter how much they want to believe in its ideals they need some sense of safety; that's why labor put barak in charge in 1999, because he's a general, which gives people the impression that he can maintain security dispite pursuing an insane appeasement policy, and that's why they've brought him back now. But Barack has the reprecussions of the Lebanon withdrawal to tarnish his image as a suposed hawk, so the left needs someone at the helm like Sharon or Olmert whom people associate with the right, so that they can promise people leftist policies with rightist security; it's a complete illusion, but that's what much of politics is about, and the left needs a pseudo-rightist like Olmert to sell that illusion or they can't win.
17. With blood and soul we will redeem you, Oh Olmert
Jake   (05.03.08)
The Arab chants of "Bil Roh wa dam nafdika ya Olmert" from Umm al Fahem, Ramallah, Gaza, and Bent Jbeil will be just about the only support this guy can count on.
18. Olmert's new hit Single out now: "I Will Survive"
Jake   (05.03.08)
19. Maybe Kadima will elect abbas when olmert is gone.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Santa Monica,CA USA   (05.03.08)
20. Hopefully He Will Rot In Jail. He Is A Swarmy Crook
Adina Kutnicki   (05.03.08)
The toppling cannot come soon enough. The urgent question is which incompetent, deluded, appeaser will take his place. The truth is that only if a nationaist Zionist PM leads the nation will anything of consequence change.
21. 14. #11 Do you have a room in Miami?
Torrance ,   Tampa Fl USA   (05.03.08)
LOL! We'll take him in Florida. Olmert is a cagey old dude and needs a break. We have plenty of room in Florida. He's been under and tremendous amount odf pressure since the 2nd Lebanese War. Even though he hasn't been the best PM in israeli history Olmert probably believes he's done the best he could for his counrty. For an Israeli nothing is more important than that.
22. 15 there are not more unworthy people to pursue than Olmert
redmike ,   Tel Aviv, London, LA   (05.03.08)
"the fish always starts to rot at the head". Not only is he the most investigated and detested PM but the the people that he surrounded himself with are the most investigated and imprisoned too. It is more likely that he will have to be dragged off in handcuffs than resign but hopefully he will fail a vote of confidence very soon - like before Independence Day. Then there would be real rejoicing in the streets. Mike
23. 12 - this time there's collusion which is much more serious!
redmike ,   Tel Aviv, London, LA   (05.03.08)
24. Mazuz
Abir ,   Chicago, IL   (05.03.08)
Given the track record so far, Mazuz will find a way to either drop charges or plea bargain. I would bet on a Mazuz screw up.
25. The old dirty game
(05.03.08)
as usual , when the PM is near to make any peace deal and he is under international presure you create such theater to change him ans the new one start again from the begining ... and so on ..... ha ha
26. A last question for Olmert
Roscio ,   Rome, Italy   (05.04.08)
I ask you, Ehud Olmert, the same question that ended the career of the most heinous politico in US history, Joseph McCarthy: "Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last? Have you left no sense of decency?" Please leave office and Israel now, before you disgrace and harm Israel even more. Just be gone. Shelach et-ami, Let my people go.
