1. Great Article
Winstyon Peinheimer ,   Croatia   (05.04.08)
Great Article Sir. I love how you explain the situation of Israel's "1000 mistakes". Israel's military is just as corrupt as its government.
2. B. Michael you got it all wrong
Don Saliman ,   Nahal Oz, Israel   (05.04.08)
What you are saying is that the Pals can shoot at us from populated areas, but our army and airforce should just stand there and take it,even if it means they put their lives in danger. In case case you don't know,Israel is at war and even the Geneva convention says if you are fired from a building etc,you have the right to shoot back, even though there may be innocent people. I think, you should let Hammas and fatah know, that they are putting the lives of innocent people in danger from using them as human shields and that is against the Geneva convention, lets put the blame where it belongs and that is to Fatah and Hammas and not Israel
3. stop, ya got me crying!!!
eliezer ,   jerusalem   (05.04.08)
If the arabs had a brain and wanted live children, they would not encourage them to throw rocks at soldiers, come to think of it, they might change their school curriculum to eliminate to hate the Jews/Israeli subject and glorification. If the liberal brained writer wanted to really say something let him go to Jenin, Ramallah or Nabulu to investigate their school systems. But, no, it is easier for an intellectual coward to throw stones at Jews than it is to recognize and acknowledge the truth.
4. How misguided and warped can one brain be?
Gil ,   Haifa, Israel   (05.04.08)
1) SOME (few) Israeli Bases are located in civilian areas - but Hamas & friends are not trying to attack the base and accidentally kill civilians, they are trying to kill civilians 2) Hamas and Friends launch attaches not from within a base in a civilian area, but from a civilian apartment building itself. The terrorists then run away to hide in schools. All of this is documented by video. 3) If you think an 18 year old is an Adult then your brain is still the age of an 18 year old. Finally, it is usually an error when we kill civilians. It gains us nothing. However, it will continue to happen as long as Hamas choses to fight in the manner it fights. It sucks, but so be it. Less of our children have died because we actually care about them and try to protect them - unlike hamas - so you chilidish numbers game (which is quite cold-hearted) is all the more irrelevant.
5. We don't mean to kill kids.
Bubba ,   Jerusalem   (05.04.08)
Why is there never a headline in the press that says "Arab Terrorists say. ' We target and intend to kill Jewish Civilians and Kids'- as they themselves take pride in admitting
6. Der Sturmer has nothing on this guy !
Yisrael ,   Jerusalem. Israel   (05.04.08)
More pathetic breast beating from a guilt ridden liberal ! So maybe we should say we're NOT sorry ? Hi, stupid, this is war ! Mistakes happen ! Our enemies couldn't care less about child fatalities; it's just another propaganda victory. And you ? I suppose you would be happier if more Jewish kids were killed. You are just pathetic.
7. where is honesty?
Giuseppe ,   Italy   (05.04.08)
I don't like comparison with childrens deaths. But I don't like this article. Who wrote it enlight us how to protect from suicide bombers or prevent them. How to protect from qassam rockets. Maybe he don't understand that if there was only 11 israeli childrens killed by palestinians it's only because IDF fight for that.
8. Let's make B. Michael a general.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (05.04.08)
Then he will explain all the practical measures he will take so that wars can be fought with no casualties, no injuries, & no property damage. Perhaps he can convince Hamas & the other Islamic crazies to conduct their war against us like a video game, on a computer. It's already getting pretty tired all these self-righteous moralizing pacifist loonies like B. Michael who cry rivers of tears yet have no solutions except idealistic utopian day-dreams of living in peace with people whose goal is our elimination. So, tell me, B. Michael, how would you conduct the war? When Kassams drop on our heads, what practical measures do you envisage? When gunmen attack the border crossings where we supply them with fuel & murder innocent civilians, what response will you make? Yes, war is terrible, people suffer, people get killed, even children. But I have bad news for you, B. Michael, our adversaries do not share your bleeding-heart view of the world. If they could kill us all, they would. They preach it in their mosques every Friday, or haven't you been listening? Their various Charters call for our elimination, or haven't you read them? Every opinion poll shows high support for terror attacks against us. Last week, even our "partner for peace" Mr Abbas was giving medals to murderers. Take your head out from where the sun don't shine, B. Michael, & come down to the real world. Stop acting like a spoiled child & face reality.
9. Is this author's real name Muhammed? Does Ynet only publish
Miriam ,   Israel   (05.04.08)
articles against Jews? Are any Jews besides Leftists anti-Israel employed at Ynet?
10. really?
Ilana   (05.04.08)
It is so easy to show it that way cause thatis exactly what people WANT to read and hear. Then they don't difin deeper and look for information and try to uderstand the real situation. We have bomb shelters, mini shelters, sirens, kids get taught what to do and how to behave under war crime situations in which civilians are sitting ducks. We keep our kids at home when it gets really bad. We don't let them out not even to go to school. Notto buy a candy and not to play soccer. Our troops operate far from civilian areas- in order to not have them in the line of fire. No one keeps dangerous explosives and weapons of all sorts in homes and bedrooms and baby cribs. Any soldier's weapon has to be locked up and taken apart when at home. So we have fewer casualties. I cannot even begin to imagine how many deaths we'd have if we operated like the palestinians- from within our towns and houses. It would surely be our end. So if you love the children, protest against the Hamas demonstrate and force them to get out of their towns and houses and operate only from carefully planned out places- far from the kids. Then they will have hardly any deaths among children. Anyone who doesn't realize this is an ignoramous big big time.
11. Who the hell is B. Michael?
Sidney ,   USA   (05.04.08)
And why does his dribble merit a column here?
12. So what do you suggest, B. Michael?
Tahl ,   Israel   (05.04.08)
The IDF, I believe, does everything in its power, to minimize civilian deaths on the Palestinian side, but unfortunate accidents occasionally happen. And while it is very easy and to decry, bemoan and criticize these unfortunate accidents - it is much harder to come up with a practical, feasible solution, to accomodate Israel's security, together with being as considerate as possible toward the Paletinians. So, B. Michael, what do you suggest we do now? Should the IDF completely stop its antiterror activities? Should it stop hunting down kassam launchers, and "ticking time bombs"? Whatever bloodshed Israel would have to endure consequently, would be on your conscience. So maybe you have a better idea than that? Do enlighten us. I'm all ears.
13. and amen to that!!!
A Lebanese ,   South Lebanon   (05.04.08)
Finally, Ynet publishes something that makes sense...!!
14. when yesiva children were slaughtered
jerry diamond ,   Toronto Canada   (05.04.08)
This newspaper has just sunk to a new low with an article like this. At a time of war the writer of this article should be charged with treason. Free speech is a privilidge up to a point. This newspaper has sunk to the likes of Haaretz which I refuse to read anymore. When the Palis mowed down the Yeshiva students in Jerusalem you can bet there was no articles like this in any Palestinian newspaper. Just rejoicing and dancing and handing out sweets at the loss of those innocent children studying in a yeshiva . Jews have forever been self destructing and their own worst enemies. Proof electing a prime minister like Olmert. Worst blunder Israel ever made in 60 years!
15. If Arabs lay down their arms there will be peace...
Nannette ,   London   (05.04.08)
If Israel lays down it's arms, there will be mo nore Israel. That's the difference between someone who REALLY wants to live in peace, but it's neighbours want it annihilated and continue to teach their children HATE so that the conflict continues over generations.
16. Of course we didn't mean to kill them
Talula ,   Israel   (05.04.08)
but with every rocket fired from Gaza they cross their fingers hoping it's going to hit a kindergarten or a school or a building full with Israelis. Just because our weapons are infinitely more devastating and powerful against their home made rockets, should not deter us from using them. Whatever the consequences. If Palestinian gunmen stop using children as shields, and stop operating from civilian areas, there wouldn't be any innocent deaths of young children. If they can't deal with the consequences of their actions, then they should just stop. It's so very simple.
17. Another propaganda article. WHy YNet?
Jay ,   Israel   (05.04.08)
The author doesnt mention anything about human shields. He doesnt mention a word about how the Palastinians have been caught out planting bodies to blame Israel. The author doesnt mention that the Palastinians do absolutely nothing to protect their children, while Israel does alot. The author doesnt mention that this is a war. He also refuses to mention that more children get killed through honour killings then they do by an Israeli bullet. Why is YNet printing this slanderous rubbish?
18. There will only be peace when....
gedaliah   (05.04.08)
The pals love their children more then they want us dead. Unfortunately they teach their children that martyrdom is righteous. So let them be martyred. I will say, I DON"T CARE!!!!!.
19. Google B. Michael
Thomas   (05.04.08)
B. Michael sued an Israeli Jew for defamation when she called him an anti-semite. He lost the case.
20. THIS GUY LIVES IN LALALAND ! AND HE'S ANTI-SEMITIC
(05.04.08)
21. Killing children is not the salient problem...
Michael Reising ,   Berkeley, USA   (05.04.08)
Unfortunately killing children is far from the point that people should be focused on right now, unless there was some totally uncontrlable IDF force going around specifically using snipers to execute all of them they could find. And most intelligent person from both sides know this. What does a small country with thousands of years of violent hate against the people that brought about its successful inception supposed to do? (There has been thousands of books read by millions worldwide about every aspect of the answer.) Yes, young casualties of war are terrible. And we're assuming they are innocent; a cynical yet important variable. At what moment does idoctrination implant itself so deeply that a 13 year old puts on a real bomb-belt or tosses away a stick and picks up an AK-47? But the larger problem is not what's being done but what isn't.! Israel could avoid a lot of troops getting killed or maimed by not using bullets during operations, reflecting a huge restraint the IDF exercises. And in a kill or be killed situation of such a nature, calateral damage occurs. Likewise, when getting bombarded by Qassams, they fight rockets with their equals, whether coming from a tank or a helicopter. Their is plenty left in Israel's arsenal that people, myself at times, have advocated using, and would leave a meter-wide crater left where a few rocket-launchers were. In Vietnam the "V.C.'s" immence tunnel complex was wiped out after years not by sending in patrols, surgical strikes or "Tunnel Rats" but by B-52's. And the Palestinian pawns (which most recognize are being used as such by now), are setting a similar stage and Israel is about at the end of its rope. It isn't about children, though.
22. if they had their way
Giliah ,   Jerusalem   (05.04.08)
If Hamas and Fatah had their way, all of the Jewish children of the world would be wiped out. The fact that they are not, we have our "boys" to thank. Our military. Thank God that they are as talented and effective as they are, for they are the ones saving our children. And for the record, B. Michael, while we are comparing numbers, the people of Gaza have had 11 more street celebrations and passing out of candy to drivers to celebrate the death of an Israeli child than we have. Since 2004, they have had 11 of these celebrations of dead children, and we, in Israel, have had none. There are your numbers.
23. Time for a reality check
REality Check ,   BaGolan   (05.04.08)
1. The last paragraph says it all - THEY, the palis, INTEND to kill our kids. 2. They purposely place their kids in the line of fire KNOWING there is a strong chance of injury. 3. Who is "B.George", staff writer for hamas or just another TA left winger seeking destruction of the Jewish State
24. The Palestinians want war...
Gary   (05.04.08)
and wage it in order to commit genocide against Israel and it's Jews. If you start a war expect casualties. Hamas apologists like B Michael should stop crying about Palli casualties until they can persuade their Pallie friends to stop attacking Israel. Most of the Arabs and Moslems (with the backing of the international left and some of the world's far right) want to drive the Jews of Israel into the sea. The Jews of Israel are determined not to be driven into the sea. No other country, has ever behaved as ethically towards the civillian population of an enemy nation, in wartime as Israel has. Israel, in a fight for her survival against a ruthless enemy that targets her women and children, and aims at the destuction of every Jew in Israel, always does all in it's power to avoid harming Arab civillians. Compare this to the Allied bombing of Dresden during World War II, or the horrific atomic destruction by the USA of the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
25. "we didn't mean to kill them"
Bear ,   zefat   (05.04.08)
Mr. Michael, why don't you publish your first name so we can get a'look' at who you really are? "GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF THE SAND", The Arabs are the instigators, they push their woman and children in front of them cowards that they are. What are we supposed to do, just die to make jerks like you happy? Wake up and die right!
26. But they mean to kill our children
Millie ,   Israel   (05.04.08)
Stop whining in self-hatred. The Islamofascists intend on killing every Jewish child - and their mothers and fathers, too. You want to start counting? Start counting the number of Pali kids exposed to vicious, Jew-hating propaganda every single day. Then you'll know why the Pali population supports the murder of Jews. It has nothing to do with land, or "occupation". It has everything to do with jihad.
27. Maybe YOU can tell us how to fight a bloodless war
Aharon   (05.04.08)
28. Hamas hope...
Nathan Rai ,   Bangalore   (05.04.08)
The well intentioned author can only be a leftist intellectual with many women and children. He imagines that Hamas just shoot missiles into the air because they feel bored maybe... And the Palestinian suicidal loonies try very hard to blow themselves up among many Israeli kids because the beaches are overcrowded maybe... Why does Israel not have money for the Gaza evacuees and the Holocaust survivors but enough to pay Israel haters ? These gentlemen seem to be following the example of the illustrous Olmert...
29. B. Michael is really sick and needs help.
Etoile ,   Montreal, CAN   (05.04.08)
Although I hate to bring up a inconvenient little fact, most Palestinians killed during the Intifada and since were killed by Palestinians and not Israelis. However this author, who does not even have the spine to mention his first name (therefore I am assuming it is a "he"), believes the IDF should just take getting shot and Israelis should be bombed to their death. Such a sad thing to see one of our own (again, an assumption) become victim of such a psychosis, where he believes the Jewish people to be such an evil entity. Pampered self-hating fool, do us all a favor. Do not pretend to be a Zionist while thinking of your people as such animals. Instead, go and join a Holocaust-denier club, or even talk in front of neo-Nazis if you haven't already. But at least you will live in blissfull ignorance, and people will know for certain that you are a nut-job.
30. Well said, B. Michael!
Daniel Pinner ,   Kfar Tapuach, Israel   (05.04.08)
And particularly at this time, between Holocaust Memorial Day and Yom el Naqba (what those Zionists call Israel Independence Day), we should also recall that during the Second World War, the Allies killed 1,600,000 German civillians (mainly in aerial bombing), while the Germans only killed 67,800 English civillians. [Statistics taken from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_II_casualties.] Clearly, following your logic, you would consider Nazi Germany's morality superior to that of Britain and the USA.
