1. Great! But...
John ,   Europe   (05.06.08)
...How many people left Israel in the same period? What's their profile - very educated, low educated, what? These numbers seem to be very difficult to find on the net.
2. Just to clarify what I sought for...
John ,   Europe   (05.06.08)
I found the numbers of emigration, but I am interested in ECONOMIC emigration, not "violence-caused emigration".
3. John, both my brother and I are medical specialists
Judah Golan Heights, ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (05.06.08)
Hardly economic refugees!
4. Immigrants
Chaya ,   Israel   (05.07.08)
Are all of these new immigrants Jewish? We know what kind of people the Jewish Agency finds to make aliyah.
5. How about helping the existing Olim first
Jay3 ,   Israel   (05.07.08)
Just herd them here like sheep and let them fend for themselves! This country has a great record of giving nearly zero support for Olim from certain countries. Thats why so many leave within the first two years. Shouldnt the government be helping these people first before they leave? Unfortunately the government and agencies are only interested in numbers, and if you come here with little money and no relatives for support, dont expect the jewish agency or the government to help. It only reflects the whole inept political system we have here.
6. Re: #4
Eric ,   Canada   (05.07.08)
Your generalizations are inaccurate. Period.
7. To #5
Charles ,   Toronto   (05.07.08)
Those making Aliyah have to make a lives for themselves. The Government and her taxpayer's dollars aren't the only forms of assistance. Where there is a will there is a way; Israel should not have the `welfare state` attitude that you are suggesting.
8. Re #7
Areilush ,   Ramat Ha Golan   (05.09.08)
I find it rather ironic that Eric from Canada and Charles from are correcting Jay 3 who lives here. Their perspective from Canada must be more accurate than perceptions from over here. I have lived here since 1972, and I've seen countless waves of immigrants come and go. Some of it is due to lack of support, and guidance. Some sank and couldn't swim. But I for one think the state should do more to help the immigrants that live here before investing in a new crop of immigrants.
