1. Turning Lebanon into Gaza.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (05.09.08)
Gaza is the template for the Arab world. An alternate headline could have been, "Shi'ites Conquer Sunnis" or, "Iran/Syria Takeover of Lebanon". Should the Hezbollah takeover of Lebanon succeed, this will have major security implications for us.
2. FACT: Only IDF can save Christians & Sunnis from Hezbollah!
KMR ,   Overseas   (05.09.08)
3. And nobody blames Israel yet? Wow...
Arthur ,   SF, CA   (05.09.08)
4. Yalla ya Nasrallah
Max ,   Oslo, Norway   (05.09.08)
Hizbullah is a disgusting terrorist organization. Let's hope they will not get control over Lebanon. If they do - more war and chaos is just around the corner.
5. US//Israeli attack in 2006 Destroyed Lebanese Government.
Johan Odin ,   Oslo, Norway   (05.09.08)
The US aided and proved Israeli attack upon Lebanon only served to weaken the government of Lebanon and in return empowered Hezbollah as the sole defenders of Lebanon's sovereignty. The US proved once again, as it has in Palestine, that it cannot be trusted to deter Israel's wanton attacks and instead proved that it actually condoned Israel’s aggression and has taken itself out of the equation for any chance of peace. Lebanon will be far better off without US/Israeli interference in Lebanon just as is every country in the region that the US has not meddled with so far, as everything they touch has ended up in a disaster. The world needs to let Lebanon solve its own crisis and prevent any further US or Israel aggression that will deter the people of Lebanon from determining their own future.
6. Why is the world allowing Iran/Syria to steal Lebanon?
JAy3 ,   Israel   (05.09.08)
The occupation of Lebanon by Syrian backed Hezbollah is a violation of any countries rights!. Why is the UN, EU, Peace Now and all the other leftist groups so quiet? Not even a UN resolution. Where are the UN peace keeping forces and why arent they enforcing the resolution Hazbollah agreed upon? Why is everybody sitting back and allowing this to happen?
7. Iran on our border
Robins ,   Jerusalem   (05.09.08)
If the coup succeeds, we'll have much more to worry about that Olmert's position. The likelyhood of war will rise dramatically.
8. #3, read the idiot on #5
Don Saliman ,   Nahal Oz, Israel   (05.09.08)
Johan Odin,it has been a number of Years, that Lebanon has had a week Governmnet, first it was Arafat and Fatah, that tried to take over and now Hezbollah,so stop putting the blame on Israel. Before Arafat Syria ran Lebanon, and controled the governmnet of Lebanon, and today Hezbollah with help from Sryria is trying to destroy Lebanon.

...are you living in fantasy land?
10. #5
DM   (05.09.08)
Its Hizbulah who does not acknowledge Israel’s nor Lebanon’s sovereignty! Yes of course you view Hizbulah as the only defensive force of lebanon cause without Hizbulah they wouldn't at all need an army. Hizbulah is an illegal entity which has only evil intentions and is not interested in peace, not for the Lebanese and not for the Jews. They will be dealt with in a next war when they will AGAIN run as chickens and put on their civilian clothes, like real cowards like real Arabs!
11. US PROBABLY CAUSE OF THIS
Arik SIlverman ,   Milwaukee USA   (05.09.08)
It's very suspicious that the Lebanon government has suddenly "discovered" the Hezbollah telephone land line system after two years (and probably many more than just two years of existence) and decided to take action against it. Why now? And for that matter why at all? I suspect the hand of Washington pulling the Lebanese government's strings in this provocative action against Hezbollah. No wonder Hezbollah has taken to the streets.
12. FREE AND FAIR ELECTIONS FIRST STEP
Arik Silverman ,   Milwaukee USA   (05.09.08)
I not that one of Hezbollah's demands is for a new election law. The agreement ending the civil war almost 20 years ago called for an end to sectarian preferences. The first step should be a one person-one vote system to give all groups their fair share of power.
13. Lebanons future more war between Sunni and Shia.
petra ,   usa   (05.09.08)
It's about power and Lebanon encouraged Hezb'allah to become their international terrorists w/ roots in Lebanon. They get what they deserve.
14. #5 - Israel left too soon! Didn't do enough!
Chaya ,   Bat Yam, Israel   (05.09.08)
It had the chance to totally destroy Hizbullah but pulled out with U.N. assurances of calm on the northern border! Bull sh-t!! Now Lebanon is paying the price!!
15. Hizbullahstan
Nora ,   Tel Aviv   (05.09.08)
After Gaza-Hamastan we`ll have now Lebanon-Hizbullahstan. Next?....Westbank-Hamastan...Next ....a Shiite revolution in Syria......all that under Iran`s Ahmadinejad patronage. Does anyone remember WW2 history? Sudeten, Chechoslovakia, Poland? Nowadays Western democracies are sleeping well. Shttttt..do not awake them until it is too late.
16. #6 - Not quite - US warships are on the move
Millie ,   Israel   (05.09.08)
There is a credible report that several US warships are on their way to the Eastern Mediterranean. The illegal communications system that the Hizbonazis wanted to install to snoop on all of Lebanon was supplied to Iran by Siemens against criticism by the US and Israel. Of course Iran bought it to enforce its total control from Iran, through Syria to Lebanon (and the Mediterranean). From here, Iran and its proxies can completely take over Iraq (even before US troops leave), overrun Jordan, directly confront Israel (lacking strong leadership and reluctant to go on the offensive) and threaten to take the Gulf oil fields. From this, and armed to the teeth, ready to use nuclear blackmail and with complete control over the Middle East, Iran will stand at the gateway to a weak and Muslim-infiltrated Eurabia . We are in for very dangerous times, unless Israel, the US and any other country willing to read the writing on the wall, will go on the offensive against Iran and its proxies. It is essential that the West learn to think for itself and not waste precious time in a dialog of the deaf at the UN.
17. To the psychotic Johan Odin
Y ,   N   (05.09.08)
What about Syrias role in the internal conflict in Lebanon? Your analysis are as idiotic an one sided as you are.
18. #6 "the UN, EU, Peace Now and all the other leftist groups"
Miriam ,   Israel   (05.09.08)
are only out to get rid of Israel. They don't care what happens to the Arabs in other countries.
19. Hizbullah Training Sunni Terrorists at ‘Furious Pace’
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (05.09.08)
Hizbullah is training new terrorists, including Sunni Muslims, “at a furious pace,” sending them to Iran for 45-day advanced training, the Christian Science Monitor reported. It quoted a terrorist, named Jawad, who said, “The holy fighters are leaving universities, shops, places of work to go and train.” Hizbullah traditionally has been popular among the Shi’ite sect of Islam, and attracting support from the Sunnis would make it an even more powerful force in strife-torn Lebanon as described at : http://xrl.us/bi3hn
20. just like hamas
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (05.09.08)
maybe they should have negotiated with them more. that's surely the answer to dealing with people like that.
21. Aah yes Hezbollah
daniel   (05.09.08)
True protectors of Lebanon, brave defenders against the Zionist invaders.
22. Failed US policy to blame
Marcel ,   Florida   (05.09.08)
When the IDF was finally making headway against Hizbollah in the 2nd Lebanon war ,summer of 2006itr was the U.S. who led the ceasefire resolution ,along with the French, thru the U.N. to rescue Hizbollah. it was the U.S. Secretary Rice under the directeion of the President who called Olmert and told him to retreat ,stealing victory for Israel over this Islamic terrorist army which is now an even greater threat. Bush was under pressure from Egypt and Saudi Arabia to stop Israel or else and he did just that. Failed Bush and his failed Road Map nightmare which directly led to a Hamastan in Gaza and his failed Iraq brings disaster everywhere because of his gross stupidity. It makes many wonder why Israel follows this fool so religiously into the pit ?
23. 22 - why not blame hizbullah/iran/syria?
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (05.09.08)
i prefer to blame those actually responsible instead of pointing fingers in every other direction.
24. Nasrallah Photo
ohvrom   (05.09.08)

25. Bush roadmap to World War 3
Mark ,   USA   (05.09.08)
26. Lebanon and Jimmy Carter
Joe Kaufman ,   Formerly Jerusalem   (05.10.08)
Where is Jimmy Carter at a time like this? Why isn't he flying to Beirut to convince Nasrallah, Asad, and Sinora to play in the sandbox rather than fight? Isn't this evil amenable to communication? Isn't this problem solvable with some judicious lessons from the 'broken telephone' school of international diplomacy? I blame Olmert for not crushing Hizbullah back when he had the chance, and then lying. I blame the UN for not enforcing the necessary resolutions that would have prevented rearmament. Stop cracking peanuts and come make Peace, Jimmy.
