2. This is not the start of a civil war, it is rather the start
Ehud ,   Hadera, Israel   (05.09.08)
of Iranian's takeover of the Lebanon through its front troops, the Hizballah. It is time the world understood that this is a takeover of a sovereign state and a member state of the UN by another member of the UN through the use of local armed forces. It is also time the world out there and especially the UN that maintain troops in Lebanon did all that must be done to avoid the taking over of Lebanon by Iran as part of the longer term designe by the latter to take over the entire Middle East, including the wiping Israel off the map and decimating any Jewish existence in it. Wake up world, wake up!!!!!!

8. Failed U.S. Policy comes home to roost
Marcel ,   Florida   (05.09.08)
When the IDF was finally making headway against Hizbollah in the 2nd Lebanon war ,summer of 2006 it was the U.S. who led the ceasefire resolution ,along with the French, thru the U.N. to rescue Hizbollah from certain defeat at the hands of Israel. It was U.S. Secretary Rice under the direction of the President who called Olmert and told him to retreat ,stealing victory for Israel over this Islamic terrorist army which is now an even greater threat . Bush was under pressure from Egypt and Saudi Arabia to stop Israel or else they would have to get involved, and he did just that,he stopped Israel. Failed Bush and his failed Road Map nightmare which directly led to a Hamastan in Gaza and his failed Iraq brings disaster everywhere because of his gross stupidity. It makes many wonder why Israel follows this fool so religiously into the pit ? The U.S. has interfered for a long time in Israeli politics ,making sure that only a weak and subservient leader is elected who will always say yes to U.S. policy no mater how much it endangers Israel. This has to stop.
9. Move along now....
Ban Ki Moon ,   UN   (05.09.08)
Shhhhhh, this is nothing. Hezbollah will use restraint. People listen to me. Now back to the Olmert Comedy Hour.
10. Cry some more..
Eyal ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (05.09.08)
Make up your minds please and stop winning all the time. You lebaneese got yourselves into this mess with your continued support to Hizbullah. You should have fought them, instead of calling them your freedon fighters. You should have gotten rid of them when Israel was attacking them, but instead you chose ego. Now it may be too late, and probably loosing your country to a bunch of militia thugs. Bruvo... You Arabs don't know what you want, no wonder G-D chose the Jews and gave them a democrast path to life. This is why Israel is the strongest nation in the Middle East and probably the world. Continue your support for Hizbullah and you will die. Stupid Arabs. Get rid of them (Hizbullah) and be patriatic once and for all.
11. Will the UN react to this idirect takeover by Iran?
Ruth ,   Kibbutz Dalia   (05.09.08)
12. To Marcel: Right On. Israel Was Lax
Dave Levy ,   Burbank. CAUSA   (05.09.08)
To Marcel: Indeed, my analysis exactly. Israel HAD the opportunity to rid the area of Iran's influence, stabilize Lebanon and stop Syria's covert control. It had within it's grasp, the destruction of Hezbollah forces, no matter what Nasrallah has been shouting (from hiding). True, Israel's advance was thwarted by poor intelligence and tactics, and Hez infrastructure. BUT, 50,000 IDF had victory in it's sight, which would have changed Southern Lebanon's landscape. Israel now will pay a price, as has Lebanon and the entire M.E., by the Shia's dominence (Iran to Lebanon). Sooner or later, I believe, the Israeli army will have to act, and decisively...up to the Litani. But it should not get involved in Beirut..or another Baghdad scene will ensue.
13. Fadi where are Uwhen we want U to keep us informed re Beirut

14. Keep Alert! May attack Israel to unite against common enemy

15. Redploy buffer zone with SLA - Now!
David ,   Shilo Israel   (05.09.08)
The humiliating pull back from Lebanon, which also betrayed our allies, needs to be speedily reversed now whilst the chance exists. Yes, also shore up the Sunni Lebanese Army in the process. Their capitualtion could lead to far greater taxing on the strength & resources of the IDF should the current situation be left to deteriate further. Barak - Here's a chance to redeem yourself from an obvious mistake? You caused it now dare to fix it if you can!
16. Back to War
Shimshon ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (05.09.08)
If Hezbollah really succeeds in controlling Lebanon than they will also be in control of the Lebanon army and of the south Lebanese border with Israel meaning for Israel to be very probably dragged into an other war. http://www.shimshon9.com

21. Where are the "FRENCH'
Richard R ,   Buckeye USA   (05.09.08)
Not a word out of Paris. I wonder why? Wasn't Lebanon once a French protected? Why hasn't the President of Lebanon asked for help from Paris? These are questions i have no answer for. I hope there is somebody out there that does. another thing why hasn't the U N steped in to stop this invading force armed by Syria and Iran from taking over Lebanon. Will Israel step in to stop Lebanon from falling into the hands of Syria? They may have no choice "NATIONAL SECURITY" maybe involed. So before this get out of hand, the French should stand up and be counted instead of letting Iran and Syris do what ever they want. Who has an answer? Not me.
22. Give Militant Muslims Credit: They Are VERY, Very Patient
David ,   Marietta USA   (05.09.08)
So Israel is about to be surrounded by Iran: Gaza, Lebanon (Hezbullia?), Syria. Iran threatens mass murder of Israelis. President Barry Hussein Obama really has no track record, other than his mentor being a vitriolic, Jew hating racist. President Hillary? Not, and besides, she would only use her nuclear option, AFTER it was used on Israel, certainly not before. President Bush? He's out to a wedding for the weekend, and it isn't his problem anymore. Olmert? Isn't he the guy who wasn't taking massive bribes from the guy in Woodmere, New York? He has more important fish to fry than Israeli security. You guys are going to have to make some decisions, and fast. therwise, how does one say "toast" in Hebrew?
23. Sure... and the earth is flat!
Massimo ,   NY, NY.   (05.09.08)
If Israel's army could stay in Lebanon in 2000 and 2006 why did they rushed out? You are living in the past. The events happened while the Prime Minister was busy defending himself, the army was busy doing its morale-lifting killing in Gaza. Israel neither has the strength nor the political will to handle MORE occupation... so GROW UP!
24. Lebanese are a simple folk - starting 2nd civil war for fun

28. REPLY
SAMO ,   USA   (05.09.08)
I Think you are right YITZAK, I mean think about it, hes probably hiding behind his western backed up crap. Lets see what the Saudi's will do now. They will probably take more money from their inflated sinful life and pass it on to the fighters and you can imagine what happens next.
29. WHY IS YNEY INFLATING THE TOPIC?
SAMO ,   USA   (05.09.08)
The fact of the matter is that the opposition SEIZED control and NOT imposed control. So I think Biased media wants to control people no matter where they were at. So this WILL NOT WORK. So good Try though.
30. This is what The Leftist government brings
BJL ,   us   (05.09.08)
Weakness invites the enemy Hizbullah to take over. Both the Left in Lebanon and Israel are responsible. Instead of having a manageble defeat of Hizbullah in 2006, now it will be 10 times harder to root them out and many times more people WILL DIE. The blood is always on the hand of the Leftists because they are so soft, they wait until the problem is out of control!
