Sasha ,   Tel-Aviv   (05.10.08)
What can be more corrupt than religious politician !!??
3. sure...religious PM with values...like shas?
rikki ,   asdod   (05.10.08)
4. I totally agree - HOWEVER....
Roscio ,   Rome, Italy   (05.10.08)
Israel must clean out all the corrupt immoral politicians who PRETEND to be religious. I refer to the "$ha$" Shas Party, who have done one Chillul HaShem after another by breaking their word to Am Yisrael and by keeping this loathsome Olmert regime in power. No truly religous person should ever vote for these disgraces ever again.
5. yeah & he should be from Shas Party as they r all so clean!
Sally Forth ,   Jerusalem of course!   (05.10.08)
6. It depends...
Gabriel   (05.11.08)
What does he mean by "selling Jerusalem"? 1)What Olmert is trying to do or; 2)The High Court allowing the sale of Chametz If the answer is 1, then it's fine for me. I don't care who the PM is as long as he won't abide by the "land for peace" that doesn't work. If the answer is 2, then why is Ynet posting his opinions?
7. Its not impossible to imagine
zionist forever   (05.11.08)
Bibi, Barak & Livni are all going to be fighting it out at the ellection and while they are busy saying how bad for the country their oponent is there is a possibility your going to get a religious candidate slip through the net. I AM HONEST THE MEN WHO HAD NO SENSE OF FAITH HAVE ALL FAILED US MISERABLY AND MOST HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN OONE SCANDEL OR ANOTHER. GIVE ME A CHANCE AND IF I DONT DELIVER THEN GET RID OF ME BUT ITS A JEWISH STATE WHY NOT TRY A MAN WHOSE JEWISH FAITH IS IMPORTANT TO HIM. If somebody can come along who knows how to talk to the public he has a chance. Obama isnt presidential material but he is a great speaker and its got him alot of support even though he is black and thre is still plenty of racism around in the US and he is up against a woman with the Clinton name. Hitler not the smartest of men but he knew how to talk to the crowd so he got ellected chancelor. If you know how to tell people what they want to hear sometimes they will look beyond the first appearence and give you a chance. I would personly like to see what a religious man could do for the country as long as he is is not Ovadia of Shas and he isnt over the top but can sound accepting of all areas of society in Israel. Find somebody like that it would be a breath of fresh air.
8. AS IF RELIGEOUS POLITICIANS NOT AS CORRUPT
mOSHE yAKH   (05.11.08)
9. All of you people who suspect Shas politicians listen up!!!
Bartley Kulp ,   Safed, Israel   (05.11.08)
Harav Ovadia Yoseph endorsed Moshe Katzav over his long time friend Shimon Peres because Katzav was dati. That arrangement worked out just fine.
10. Religious, no way! Torah keeper, essential!
Shiloh ,   sadlythegalut   (05.11.08)
We don't want a religious person, nor need one. We need a Torah keeper (5 Books of Moshe ONLY). One who follows the Torah, dresses like a normal person, cares for the Jewish people no matter if they are secular or religious, works for righteousness, etc etc. One who can't be bought by either the religious, secular or more importantly the USA!! That includes all the goyim. In Israel, I doubt if you will ever find one like this. If they keep the Torah, the religious call them a heretic as they ignore the rabbinical establishment. I think the secular establishment (excluding the frankist leftist self hating jews) would accept someone like this though. Well, we can all dream, but it won't happen any time soon, at least soon enough to save what will be left of Israel after Condi and Livni make their "peice" deal.
11. Religious sector is the most corrupt in Israeli society
Chaim   (05.11.08)
I hate to say this, but the religious sector is the most corrupt in all of Israeli society. Many of the regular people are great, but the vast majority of the Rabbis are corrupt through and through - there is nothing Jewish about their conduct. We need a PM with values - which means we definitely dont need a PM with a kippah
12. Corruption? RELIGION is the ultimate corruption of the mind
Gene ,   Future Oleh   (05.11.08)
13. Sure. How about Benizri?
Arn ,   Yehud   (05.11.08)

14. the israeli P M is merely a American puppet tool RIGHT ???
M. S. ,   mpls america   (05.11.08)
I realize you may think Israel became a state in 1948 but in fact it became a puppet of the Caucasian Jewish Americans English French etc every P M is a yes man puppet to the puppet masters who pull the strings thus 48 56 67 73 were puppet wars not Israel Arab wars RIGHT ??? such is life my dear Rabbi so wise up Moses is a biblicial story all P M know it never admit it but know it I visited in 68 69 saw how every thing was puppet puppet PUPPET RIGHT !!! thank you... M. S.
15. isn't the NY bag man also a rabbi? end
alan ,   cape straightalaska   (05.11.08)
so why is being a rabbi a guarantee of being moral. perhaps in the past. but now there is a lot of corruption among the Levitites. morals we need. a theocracy, no thanks
16. When he's right he's right
Scott ,   Cambridge MA   (05.11.08)
How can you argue ?These secular weasels will always sell us out It seems that we need to change our ways and taki it no more . It is about time we have a Jewish leader, Not an Israeli who only expresses his Judisim when it get him votes
17. It is not a time for cinicision
Galut ,   Selah   (05.11.08)
Israel does need a leader that has strong roots in the faith of Abraham ,Issach and Jacob. the giving away of land can only be done by G-d... and G-d will not break his promise to abraham. If those in judaism want such a leader then they need to groom him and the public....if it is not done prayerfully and with enthusiasm then it will never happen. a Voice of cinicision absolutly guarentees it will never happen. Remember those who complained after Moses crossed the Red Sea
18. aren't our religious leaders corrupt, too?
oren   (05.11.08)
anyone heard of shas? they're pretty damn corrupt as well.
19. Yes and No
David ,   Jerusalem   (05.11.08)
I agree that a religious PM who was a genuine man of faith and principle would be a better choice, but I'm not willing to take just any kippa wearing politician who wants the job. I've lived in Israel long enough to know there is a world of difference between "religious" and "righteous." I think you have much better odds on the latter with a religious person, but we have plenty of "culturally religious" people, including culturally ultra-orthodox, with corrupt values - despite their pious conduct. This would be the worse thing for us. And, the religious in Israel are very narrow and establishmentarianism oriented (meaning the religious establishments). It would take a Joshua - a strong man who was unbending and could stand against the entire nation. And that includes the religious establishment. He'd have to be truly remarkable. What you're asking for is the messiah.
20. Re: 18
Galut ,   selah   (05.11.08)
Yes some are ...But it is possible to find someone among them that has integratey ...to both gods law and he community they serve.
21. Re:19
Psalms 83 ,   Selah   (05.11.08)
quote 'He'd have to be truly remarkable. What you're asking for is the messiah" =============== but he won't appear much before "YECHEZK'EL Chapter 39 till then you must choose a leader that is willing to listen to G-d .... much like joshua
