1. an Arab's view
AD ,   UK   (05.16.08)
The 'Nakba' is in fact embedded in our mentality, not only as Palestinians but as Arabs. So Livni wants us to erase the word from our vocabulary? The solution to almost all the middle east crisis lies in erasing the 'Nakba' felt feeling from the minds of the people, but is this possible through the creation of two-states? This is where Livni goes wrong. A two state solution would be another Nakba day, and until Palestine is free, we would rather count the Nakba days.

Poor Hamas has hurt feelings, I'm so sad for them. BTW who wrote Bush's speech? I was nearly moved to tears. It was beautiful!
4. Words are cheap, what about the new radar and new planes???

Good, keep commemorating the Nakbah for ever. The problem with the Palis is that they are "stuck" in reverse. They can't move forward . All they talk is about the refugees from 48 that left because their Arab leaders told them to leave. There is an equal number of Jews that were expelled from Arab countries. Yet, unlike the Arabs, Israel absorbed them into their society, gave them housing and citizenship and tok care of them. Unlike the Arabs that kept the Palis in refugee camps and made them dependent on the UN for food. Don't you people have an ounce of honor and self respect???

7. Bush: "appeaser" of oil regimes
Noah ,   New York, NY   (05.16.08)
Bush and his family have been in bed with the oil regimes of the Gulf for decades. The same regimes who bankroll our enemies. What country were most of the 9/11 hijackers from? Hint: the same country led by family friends of the Bushes. And, all the tuchis-lecking is for naught: we still have high oil prices. He sure has a lot of nerve.
8. #1 a Jews View
David P. ,   Santa Cruz, USA   (05.16.08)
99.9% of the middle east is Arab, from western Africa through eastern Asia the Arabs lay claim to. Israel is not included in that Arab empire and never will be. The "nakba" you speak of is your devotion to the false creation of people that never were.
9. "Rhetoric"?
Patrick ,   Boston, U.S.A.   (05.16.08)
Why does Ynet call it "rhetoric"? More and more of late, even among we Americans who support a fair, safe, and defensible Jewish homeland as a simple matter of conscience--not out of religious conviction--it seems that Israel is doomed by its own pathological fixation on appeasing the unappeasable.

Shai ,   IL   (05.16.08)
Yeah - fight the war until the last Palestinian - while you sit in the UK, hypocrit. This is typical of the Palestinian "diaspora" - I bet if Palestine were established the vast majority of Palestinians who declare their love for this land at the expense of so much blood, at the expense of not achieving a compromise for fear this would upset their purist views, would not even go live here.
12. Good for the Goose?
Shai ,   IL   (05.16.08)
How is it that Iranian presidents can go on and on and on about destroying Israel, or Palestinian presidents can go on and on and on about justifying terrorist acts against Israeli civilians, and everyone in the Arab world tells everyone in the Western world, "now don't worry - this is just for internal consumption, for the "street" - it'll be ok - just keep conceding and compromising". Yet, when an American president issues words for "internal consumption", suddenly the Arab worlds itsy bitsy feelings are hurt. Aw, we so sorry - did we hurt your wittle feewings? Suck it up. Just like you always tell us to.
13. Thank you for your honesty #1
y   (05.16.08)
I only wish more Israelis would take the time to listen to what you have to say, as it reflects the true feelings of the Arab people. Only when Jews begin to understand that Arabs are not interested in compromise and coexistance will they be able to throw out the useless "peace process" and do what is necessary to protect their country.
14. Remember 1984?
robin ,   Israel   (05.16.08)
This is what the world will become if a president cannot even make a speech. I never, never thought Bush was referring to Obama, but now that Obama is up in arms I begin to think. Second, one of Bush's top aides a few years ago, who finished his job, wrote a book explaining the losses from the Iraqi War could still be salvaged if the Israeli-Palestinian problem would be solved, subtly putting responsibility on Israel for the whole mess. It was Carter and the writer of this book Bush was referring to, at least I thought until now.

You are absolutely correct, arabsa do not want to coexist with anyone!!! So #1 Thank You as well, My mates here in UK are sick of them as well, but we have to live with them, and oh boy after seeing first hand what they are capabale off is when I started to appreciate Israelis. I'll pray for Israel everyday! Love you people! Keep Fighting those geezers! England is with YOU, so is GOD!!!

17. Bush's rhetoric & Arab anger.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (05.16.08)
I think (an opinion) that part of the Arab anger towards Bush's speech is a product of how pervasive & deep-seated their hatred of us is. Their hatred of us dominates their thinking. And because it is so pervasive, so general, so accepted as normal, they are shocked & offended to hear anything else. This fanatical hatred has become the basis of their world-view. In their twisted view of the world, it is inconceivable that someone does NOT hate us. Hence, the anger at Bush's rhetoric.
18. Arab anger and hatred
Said ,   London, UK   (05.16.08)
When you solve the Palestinian problem in a just manner, Terry, all the anger and hatred will disappear in an instant. The Arabs have a great capacity for anger and hatred - but an even greater one for forgiveness! Without that, you have NO HOPE!
19. Arabs slam Bush's speech
Brod ,   USA   (05.16.08)
This shows clearly that there is NO divide among the Islamist-Jihadists. They share the same religious ideology and zealotry. They worship the same god that tells them to Jihadize the whole world. It is time the world knows and understands this.
20. # 8 DAVID, BRAVO!!!!!! WELL SAID.

21. thank you bush
yakov ,   london   (05.16.08)
a most amazing speech, thank you president bush for the warm and friendly words! isn't it a pity that a non-Jew must teach Jews how to speak?
22. What serious researches reveals.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (05.16.08)
There are modern myth – or more exactly lies – that have as objective to hide the actual truth about the identity of the Arabs commenly known as “Palestinians”. Neutral and objective research based on historic and archeological evidence including Arab sources and quoting statements by authoritative Islamic personalities reveals the truth as described at : http://xrl.us/bi5c6
23. #1 AD - and WHO else in the arab world (last try)
CK Tan ,   Singapore, Singapore   (05.16.08)
MAKES the SAME choice as you? "The 'Nakba' is in fact embedded in our mentality, not only as Palestinians but as Arabs." Wake and smell the PETROL $. Other than syria and iran (who USE palis as war PROXIES for their OWN benefits), the MAJORITY of the ARAB countries have MOVED on. They are focusing on being VERY RICH and using the new-found WEALTH to develop their nations for their people. The palis should be doing the same instead of WASTING resources - including kids as DISPENSABLE tools - on TERROR. "until Palestine is free, we would rather count the Nakba days." You make the bed, you sleep on it. Just QUIT WHINING about how ROUGH it is for you.

25. Bush's Speech to Knesset
Phyllis ,   Boston, USA   (05.16.08)
G-d Almighty is not a man that he should lie. The promise in Jeremiah 31:33-37 declares in essence that if the moon & stars vanish only then will the descendants of Israel ever cease to be a nation before G-d Almighty. If the Arabs would bless Israel they would be part of the blessing. That is my prayer. A Biblical Christian who has been to Israel twice totaling 6 weeks. I love Israel!!!
26. #18 - Said, The Palestinian problem has been solved...
Joe ,   Ramat Gan   (05.16.08)
With the creation of Transjordan via the Sykes-Picot agreement, the Palestinian problem was solved in a fair and just manner- 2 states for 2 peoples. What you Arabs fail to understand is that the League of Nations, under the Sykes-Picot agreement, aimed at solving a 1900-year old refugee problem not unlike the current refugee problem- that of "Palestine's" native inhabitants, the Jews. Like other proposals in the past for a just solution to the problem of refugees, however, you Arabs accepted the creation of an Arab state while failing to accept the creation of a Jewish state. This is the crux of the refugee issue that you Arabs need to understand- the solution to the problem of Arab refugees will only come when Arabs recognize the rights of the Jews who have been refugees for 1900 years.
27. Bush's speech to Israel
Elizabeth ,   Houston, USA   (05.16.08)
Bush was there celebrating Israel's anniversary. Of course he is going to speak possitively of Israel. Why do the Palestinians assume they have to be addressed as well?
28. EXTREME RELIGIOUS TONE APPALLING
Arik Silverman ,   Milwaukee USA   (05.16.08)
Bush has now come out of the closet as an extremist Christian Zionist. We've had the actions for a long time, and now the word. This is very, very unfortunate. The religious tone threatens to set Muslim against Jew on religious grounds. That does not bode well for the future, since religion is one thing people are ready to die for. Bush has shown his stupidity and incompetence in so many ways throughout his terms in office, and now he sets Israel up for a religious war. HOW DUMB CAN THIS GUY BE?
29. The Appeaser of Riyadh
Noah ,   New York, NY   (05.16.08)
New York Times 5.17.2008 Bush Rebuffed on Oil Plea in Saudi Arabia By SHERYL GAY STOLBERG Published: May 17, 2008 RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — With the price of oil hitting record highs, President Bush used a private visit to King Abdullah’s ranch here Friday to make a second attempt to persuade the Saudi government to increase oil production and was rebuffed yet again. .... After talking tough in the Knesset, Bush crawls on his belly to the masters of the country that gave us the majority of the 9/11 hijackers, begging in vain for cheap oil. Meanwhile, they continue to teach radical Wahhabi Islam and bankroll terrorists worldwide - and screw us on the oil. Who's the real appeaser? Are you too right-wing, too Christian, or too hateful to see?
30. THANK YOU PR BUSH & AMERICA FOR YOUR GOURAGE & SUPPORT
