Your reasons are very primary and far from the truth , America would never attack any country for Saudi Arabia or anyother but only for Israel or for the oil , why should Taliban or El qaeeda attack America .... why America and later England ... ask your self .... the western countries are alot so why those ... don't try to close your eyes Israel and your Zionist loby are behind at least 80% from your national security problems ... face it and try to change it with the new government .

33. We are more than tired, we are
Che Vive ,   Ghetto Beach, U.S.A.   (05.21.08)
ashamed! This monster who spoke honeyed words to your Knesset has abused us, tricked our people into war with Iraq, left one of our cities to drown, shredded our Constitution, deprived us of civil liberties, spied on us, tortured prisoners in our name, used our Army as his personal plaything, treated our veterans like garbage, and for what???? And now he claims that 300 million Americans stand with you, ready for another war? Like hell! A miserable bunch of politicians stand with you, ready to send our people off to die because they don't give a damn about their own citizens! We're expendable! It sucks! Get it straight Israel, we don't want any more Mideast wars, and the Muslim-baiting culture so many of you encourage has gotten old really fast. Stop encouraging our idiot leaders to wage war. If you don't, you're a liability and deserve to be treated as such.
34. #27 - Jeannie, You left one important thing out...
Joe ,   Ramat Gan   (05.21.08)
You left one important thing out: Defeatist Leftists that never miss an opportunity to poo-poo the economy and loudly protest every action their government takes- for better or for worse!
35. I agree in part, we need to chose our battles more wisely.
Claudia ,   Tampa, FL USA   (05.21.08)
For the majority of us support of Israel is one of those battles the Arab world must learn we will fight. I don't know what will happen if Obama is elected, his remarks are outrageously naive, but I am sure that with a Republican like John McCain in office committments will be upheld. Now that Iraq is going better, still not good, it is imperative that we keep a large presence in that country as a deterent to Iran. Many of us here are simply tired of the corruption all around us in the UN; Europe can't seem to do anything any more, not only are they finished they don't even know it! and we have neighbors that need our attention to counter the Chavez and Castro's that hang on forever with their Marxist doctrine. Frankly what irritates me if that when the great humanitarian efforts have to be done who do they turn to, and who foots the bill? America. No more, I say. Not one more sack of rice for any Islamic country like Indonesia. Where are the Saudi's and the Iranians when their people are dying? And I hear more and more people saying the same. We should only protect our allies, like Israel and the UK--until it is overtaken by Islam--then out it goes too! No mercy for those that hate us.
36. America The Tired
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (05.21.08)
Americans are not tired as much as we are bored. Our attention span is short and to see our money squandered time and time again on the same BS without visible results is not the way we like to see any railroad run. Americans support Israel for reasons of philosophy and in memory of ’67, 73 and a little situation called Entebbe. It is, however, totally incomprehensible to the average American that anybody holds still for just about daily rocket attacks without putting an end to it once and for all, world opinion be damned. You’d have a 300 million cheering section for that one, even if Jimmy Carter and a few other notables were not part of it. As it is, one starts to wonder if, for who knows what reasons, the victims think they deserve it, in which case they should stop bitching. It would be a mistake to write us off, because we have a few problems. We’ve been through a lot worse numerous times before and somehow managed to come out on top. Whether or not one can define it, there is such a thing as “the American spirit” and that is not based on the inane political spouting of whoever happens to be in Washington for a few years, but on the way the people feel about their country, their lives, and their freedoms. As someone once said, “The true value of a country is measured by how many want in and how many leave” and according to that we’re doing just fine.
37. Edithann #6, you call that mirage and smokecreen an article
Jake   (05.21.08)
Gee whiz, another article from another Arab newspaper on another Israeli independence day gleefully predicting Israeli demise yet again. Considering that the Arabs so fervently wish for Israel to be wiped off the map, it is not hard to put together an article twisting the facts and misinterpreting Israeli quotes to suit their fundamental aim. The truth, however, is fundamentally the opposite, and the writers from al Ahram all know it. While the Arab world's experimentation with the nation state has proven to be a big flop, and Islamic fundamentalism looks set to fill the void left by the failure of Arab nationalism, Israel is doing perfectly fine and getting better and stronger every day. Sure, the leadership is inept, but the society is doing just fine, much to your and their dismay.
38. #24 is correct
Jake   (05.21.08)
Scapegoating Israel about the cause of American military involvement in the Middle East is just ludicrous. Contrary to the claims of Messieurs Walt and Mearsheimer trumpetted by Israel's detractors, the claim that Israel in any way encouraged or contributed to the war in Iraq have proven to be unfounded. The claim that "neocons" who were sympathetic to Israel were behind the decision to go to war in Iraq is application of guilt by association. The Americans asked Israel not to voice support for the war for fear of compromising the war's legitimacy in the eyes of the Arabs, and Israel complied. By contrast, Kuwait, Qatar, and Bahrain could scarcely contain their enthusiasm for the prospect of taking out Saddam, and happily hosted US military installations that would be involved in the operation. I don't hear anyone chastising the Kuwaitis for veangefulness.

"Cheap Dollar. No Jobs. Weak Economy. Dumb President. Weak education. No culture. High Crime. Guns Everywhere. Low Morale. No morals. Lazy people. Bad drivers. Overweight and obese. Junkfood lovers. Drug users. DID I LEAVE ANYTHING OUT?" Yeah. How about unpatriotic, and blaming everyone else instead of themselves.
40. Wrong
paul malykont ,   United States   (05.21.08)
We are only tired of Bush and his alter ego - McCain. They empowered Iran and have wasted our strength. We will always support Israel's security and we will work to eliminate the causes of the prolblem. Senator Obama supports Israel. Read his words honestly and review his voting record. America always recovers because we learn. We liberals are leading the battle to end this foolishness in Iraq and let us use our resources for ourselves and our true friends.

44. Obama has "wrong" written all over him, #40
Cameron ,   USA   (05.21.08)
As usual, you offer up yet another Liberal " whine & snivel" session about Bush and McCain without presenting any credible/realistic alternatives. The profound unease and distaste for Obama in the US & Israel is simply a mirror for Liberal attitudes & behavior we have all witnessed over the years. One does not deal with the hard, cold world by practicing a policy of "avoidance" or "running away". You spoke of "our true friends". From what I have observed over the years, those Liberal friends move with lightning speed to distance, avoid, or end friendship the moment that uncomfortable truths have to be directly addressed. No one needs "fair-weather" friends while rolling through life, #40. No one, but no one, works this shameful "fearmongering" game like the Liberal Left. Whining fear & hand-wringing is an absurd manner to approach the world.

Israelis would be truly wise to trust more in their wits & strong right arm to keep getting through the days of the week, Connie. You & I both know the dangers of blindly taking things for granted.
