1. Anyway you look at it, Hezbollah won.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (05.21.08)
This "deal" will last until the next crisis. Hezbollah has the Siniora gov't. on a leash, I can hear Nasrallah telling an aid, "would someone take Siniora out for his walk." "Good boy, now sit, roll over, speak. Here's a biscuit."
2. Is this the end of Lebanon?
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (05.21.08)
The prospect of escalating violence while focusing hostility against Hizbullah, benefiting no one. If Hizbullah wants its semi-independent entity, it is now obliged to state this plainly. The masks have fallen, and if Hizbullah does decide to reject Lebanon, then we shouldn’t be surprised if some start speaking of an amicable divorce between Shiites and the rest of Lebanon. Can Israel afford to keep out of this new situation ? More about Lebanon at : http://xrl.us/bkivy
3. The end of Lebanon
Johnny ,   Stockholm Sweden   (05.21.08)
Lebanon no longer is a soverign country. Lebanon is now in all reality a sharia country.
4. Lebanon
I.Kemp ,   Nahariya Israel   (05.21.08)
No one seriously expected things to end any other way which is Hezbullah getting all it wanted . From here on out it there will likely be continued unrest with Hezbullah having total military control sooner rather than later. Welcome to the real world (which we live in but our politicians don't)- Iran proxy 's to the south and to the north
5. Siniora is weaker than OLmert
Jay3 ,   Israel   (05.21.08)
The traitor to Lebanon has really stuffed it up now. He has capitulated to the demmands of terrorists, just like olmert. Both men are ruining their countries and should be sent to jail for crimes against the state!
6. above
moishe   (05.21.08)
Lebanon will not enjoy peace and prosperity for a long time to come. it has become a war zone! it will be swallowed up by religeous thugs, bit by bit. sad but true.
7. Hizb'allah takes Lebanon by force.
petra ,   usa   (05.21.08)

8. hey, if US has verto power, so can they
(05.21.08)
9. #8, the United Nations is not a country. Lebanon is.
Jake   (05.21.08)
and Hizbullah is hellbent on destroying it.

11. A Lesson Learned
Robert ,   New Jersey, USA   (05.21.08)
To those of you leftie peacenik appeasers, see what really talks in world affairs. Armed insurrection leads to political dominance. It happened in Gaza, and now, it happened in Lebanon. So continue advocating negotiations and appeasement towards your sworn mortal enemies. Soon the violence will be at your front door. Negotiate with Hezbollah. Allow them and Hamas to consume the flesh of freedom bite by bite like hungry piranhas from your meager bones . You can then beg for leniency from your conquerors. Good Luck!
12. Lebanon:: Land of Hezbollah(Shia) born !!
KMR ,   Overseas   (05.21.08)
Sunnis, Druze and Christians became helpless from their own action of hating US and Israel !!!.
13. #3: Correct
Yakov   (05.21.08)
And it doesn't stop there. Lebanon, by all practical means, is no more. It is now under the axis of Iran, and it is only a matter of time before Hez goes after one of these: 1) A split from the rest of the country or 2) Hez tries to wrest control over the administrative buildings in Beirut and rule the country outright. It would be a Hez paramilitary junta ruling that country. It's only a matter of time before one of these situations materialize.
14. THE DEMOCRATIC WAY
Arik Silverman ,   MilwaukeeUSA   (05.21.08)
Based on their probable share of Lebanon's population, Shi'ites should be entitled to at least 1/3 of government, and probably more. But Lebanon doesn't have fair elections, for it reserves 50% of the parliament for the 33% Christian minority. Not getting a fair share of parliament, the Shi'ites have sought it in the cabinet, and now they apparently have it. As much as people dislike Hezbollah, this outcome appears to be fair and to follow the rules of democracy.
15. MisInformation
Lebanese ,   Beirut,Lebanon   (05.21.08)
This article is entirely incorrect. First it is the Opposition who got Veto Power in the new Government, not Hizbollah. Second Shiites will only have 6 ministers in this government in accord with the division of Power between different Sects and Religions. As Such, Hizbollah will have a maximum of 3 ministers as they have to share with the other Shiite faction Amal. Finally, the amendment to the current election law will be only beneficial to the Christians, especially in Beirut...
16. terrible agreement
steve ,   london, england   (05.21.08)
This is real bad news for Lebanon. Terrorism is on the ascendancy everywhere in the Middle-East and all of it has an unholy Islamic context. Decent muslims everywhere are under threat by these militaristic groups. What kind of human beings prefer force of arms to intelligent debate and peacefully conducted politics? What is more abhorrent to GOD? This love of militarism? Or pigs? GOD created pigs. But GOD did not create these militarist groups. That they parade with Islamic slogans is an abomination to GOD. These groups will increase in influence throughout the region however because their military strength increases. But their end will be terrible too. They will be wiped from the face of the earth by a massive outpouring of peace loving Islamicism. Soon. Soon it is coming. Nasrallah is a pig. A goddamn pig.
17. Sunnis love hizbollah
(05.21.08)
I see you are so angry here guys, which makes me so happy. I am sunni, and i absolutely adore Hizbullah, and happy they take over Lebanon, and very happy to live with them. They are our brothers, as opposed to you our enemies. Die with anger, i will be laughing .. oh, by the way, you are capitulating now to the syrians. I advise you to stop your govermnet, the tide is not in your favor! lovely!
18. #17 fake Sunni identity
kito ,   bagdad   (05.21.08)
They say some Shia are liars. What's your impressions?" Now, all Shia are liars
19. HEZBOLLAH DID WIN OFFICIALLY....#1
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (05.22.08)
What was already Hezbollah's right has now become official.By virtue of foreign hands working and trying to dislodge Hizbollah, exactly contrary results have emerged. As a result the influence on Lebanon by vested interest will be limited and Lebanon is likely to flourish once again.
