1. We all know it but the media would rather a corrupt PM
Miriam ,   Israel   (05.22.08)
than Right-wingers running the show. Olmert will make sure to drag this investigation on until the end of his term, EVEN if it means GIVING UP ALL OF ISRAEL. Olmert is nothing but selfish whose only concern is keeping HIMSELF IN POWER while pushing for “painful concessions” of his own brothers. MK Aryeh Eldad (National Union) repeated the allegation leveled at then-PM Ariel Sharon prior to the Disengagement, that "The depth of the criminal investigation dictates the extent of the withdrawals. Olmert thinks that if Sharon was spared from trial due to pushing through the Disengagement he can escape his by executing a withdrawal and handing parts of the land to someone who was just a short time ago seeking nuclear weapons."
2. Olmert thinks
Mike ,   Jerusalem   (05.22.08)
that Syria is his get out of Jail Free Card. on the other hand Uri Messer, Moishe Talansky, and Sula (yes Shula who kept all records in her computer) Zaken are his Go directly to jail do not pass go do not collect $200 cards! Maybe Olmert will go on a "slim fast"diet after all

8. We already have peace with Syria
Steve ,   Fla.   (05.22.08)
Prime Minister Olmert said: "This is the same conclusion reached by three of my predecessors -- each of whom invested efforts in this channel and who were all ready to make far-reaching concessions in order to obtain peace with Syria." This is silly; it's nonsense! We already have peace with Syria; albeit a cold peace as we have with Egypt. How will giving our land over to Egypt or to Syria result in anything other than what we already have? A cold peace. We gave Egypt -- with whom we had a cold peace -- the Sinai and what did we get in return? A cold peace.
9. #8 "WE" ?
Sheila ,   Jerusalem Israel   (05.22.08)
Just by the way "we", Israel that is, is not at peace with Syria since Syria is backing the Hezb-Allah who are in a constant state of war with "us". If, by striking an agreement with Syria we can stop them providing a conduit for armaments to Hezb-Allah from Iran - life could be better!
10. Sheila #9: thanks for the clarification
Steve ,   Fla.   (05.22.08)
I use "we" in the loose sense of the term. Of course I am not "yet" living in Israel but I am still a part of Israel nonetheless, as is every Jew whether he or she wishes to accept it or not. I believe 'all' of the land of Israel belongs to every Jew for all time. This would include Gaza and the Golan, Judea, Samaria and perhaps the Sinai. No Jew, not even an elected prime minister of Israel, has the right to give our land to our enemies. That is essentially what I am saying here. This is essentially what we are dealing with in this particular case. Yes of course, I understand Syria is backing Hezbollah who is in a constant state of war with "us." So is Iran backing Hezbollah who is in a constant state of war with "us." Hezbollah is an Iranian and a Syrian proxy. It was not simply Hezbollah that attacked Israel July - August 2006, but Iran and Syria. Do you really think giving up precious and strategic land to these jihadist killers will bring peace to the Jews Sheila? Do you believe HaShem will bless this act? This treasonous act? You cannot be a believer in HaShem and put forward this idea that we should give our G-d given land over to our inveterate enemy. Can you?
