1. Egypt - Home to Terrorists Not Allies
Hinda Blas ,   SF Bay Area - USA   (05.23.08)
As an American who's Jewish, I am befaddled by Egypt's continuing stance on terrorism by their supporting it especially against Jews and Non-Muslims (yet there are also some Muslims who are also targeted but hey - life's expendable to them). It was Abdul Gammel Nasser who decreed that Hitler had the right idea and with the backing of Stalin had even recreated the "bunkers" that were from some of the Nazis' death camps for their undesirables. JIMENA.ORG has proof of this very transaction and for the Egyptian broadcaster to keep on with his rhetoric is just mimicing what the Egyptians/Arabs have been saying since Nasser. So why should anyone think they want peace? They got the Sinai back (thanks to the supporter of terrorism Jimmy Carter himself) - how dare they consider giving back property that belongs to the very people who helped make Egypt once a jewel in the Sahara (prior to Nasser who destroyed this very jewel in less than three years). History does repeat itself. And if the US was intelligent, there would be none of my taxpayer dollars going to such a country.
2. fake friends
Tamir ,   Los Angeles   (05.24.08)
and we have a so called peace agreement with egypt and they are the ones mediating our "secret" talks with other arab entities. This is a sick reality that we jews live in. Any opportunity for anti-semites to cause problems and spit out disgusting false accusations against jews and israelis is taken. I say do not count on fake friendships. Take care of your own country first and foremost and do not rely on those who look down on you
3. NO surprise; egypt peace was bought
bernard ross ,   sta anns bay,jamaica   (05.23.08)
Why would anyone in Israel be surprised by the egyptian behaviour. When US stops paying egypt billions in aid then war with israel will resume. Egypt has been in the forefront of anti-semitism, embracing the "proocols of...". Why wouldn't a nation of anti-semites display anti-semitic behaviour. There is nothing positive in the "peace" with egypt. It would have been better to keep the sinai and explore for oil.
4. Damn Good Question
Russell ,   Houston, USA   (05.24.08)
"Why should we bring in Jews born in Egypt who preferred to flee to Israel, which has fought us in blood-soaked wars," I would think that the same question could be posed with respect to Isreal and the Arabs who fled during the first Arab/Israeli War.
5. Very interesting...
Londoner ,   London, UK   (05.24.08)
So the Egyptian TV presenter admits that a) Jews owned property in Cairo and now do not own said property, b) that said property was taken by the state and c) that the Jews fled. One usually flees FROM something, so what were they fleeing? Maybe there could be a bit of a trade, what with refugees and property and all, now that Egypt's realized some of its own culpability.
6. SEE... its ALL ONE WAY with Arabs
Scott   (05.24.08)
"Right of return" doesn't apply to JEWS. "Blood soaked wars" YES. Instigated by EGYPT and ARABS. AS USUAL.
7. Take back the Sinai, for keeps.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Santa Monica,CA USA   (05.24.08)
8. How dare you ?
(05.24.08)
Give back the lands you stolen first , or ask your old Zionists who caused for you this problems , you were all living like kings in Egypt before 1948 , you were the best busniss people in Egypt and you lived together with the Moslems and the Christians without any problems ... go and search who turned your life upside down by stealing and occupieng Palastine and throwing out of their homes ... ask those to give you your money back .... or blackmail again the Swiss banks maybe it's easier .
9. Boycott Egypt
NYC Girl   (05.24.08)
Any Jew or any Israeli who travels to Egypt after this is a damned fool. I wouldn't spend a penny of my hard-earned money in that country. It's bad enough they're getting nearly $3 billion dollars a year from American taxpayers while spewing their anti-American and anti-Semitic vitriol.
10. No Peace here
Natan   (05.24.08)
Don't fool your self, there is no peace between Egypt and Israel. It is a state of "non war".. It was a strategic decsion by Sadat who knew that he is better off with American aid than Russian assistance. It was peace for economical reason only.. There is no peace between the people of both countries. The hate and propagnda never stopped. It is only a question of time until the next war with Egypt..
11. the right of return
(05.24.08)
apparently according to egypt, it is only paLIS THAT HAVE THE RIGHT OF RETURN. HOW ABOUT ONE MILLIUON JEWS WHO EGYPT EXPELLED (THEY DIDN'T LEAVE ON THEIR OWN AS THE NEWSCASTER CLAIMS), RETURN PROPERTIES, BUSINESSES AND HOMES THAT WERE CONFISCATED BY EGYPT AFTER EXPELLING THE JEWS. OF COURSE THEY LEFT FOR ISRAEL. WHERE ELSE ARE THEY GOING TO GO ???? HYPOCRICY AT ITS BEST. SOMETIMES I FEEL THAT ARABS ARE SO USED TO TWISTING THE TRUTH AND MAKING UP HISTORICAL "FACTS" THAT THEY DON'T KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REALITY AND FANTASY......A CONSEQUENCE OF MADDNESS AND IMBECILITY.
12. Egypt afraid of what the trip might expose
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (05.24.08)
Jews lived in Egypt a thousand years before the Islamic invasion. Elephantine, Alexandria and Fustat/Cairo are part of our long history. That counted for nothing as Egyptians confronted Israel. After each defeat, they proceeded to despoil and expel more of that community until there is hardly a Jewish soul left. That is part of Egypt's past they will not face.
13. Israeli
Wise Man ,   USA   (05.24.08)
Please stay away fromEgypt. you are not wanted or liked in Egypt. Just stay away
14. He y..I have an idea--lets make the same peace with Syria
Zippy   (05.24.08)
and give them the Golan and the same peace with the Jordanians and Egyptians and give them Gaza and the West Bank. This just proves it yet again--- The whole world will live peacefully because Israel, the cause of the world's wars and terrors, will have pleased everybody. Well almost everybody. There will still be those who wish her gone. Nice peace treaty with Egypt!! In Jordan the other day, the prof was calling for more suicide bombers. You know what you can do with that piece of paper too.
15. Ozymandius
Arn ,   Yehud, Israel   (05.24.08)
How criminally minded are those Jews to think they have a right to get back their "nationalized" property in Egypt. Only the Palestinians have this privilege, they say, to demand the same from Israel. Welcome to Egypt. Once the greatest culture in the world ("I am the king of kings"). Today only a headless statue in the silent sands remains. A festering anthill. With Sadat went their last hope for glory.
16. let us oganize trips to Jaffa, Haifa and Jerusalem but
Feras ,   Refugee camp Lebanon   (05.24.08)
we will come back to our spoiled homes and stay!!!
17. TAKE THE SINAI BACK!
Bobby Solo ,   Italia   (05.24.08)
So we can travel there safely after 27 years!
18. let's say they do want it back, aren't they entitles to?

19. An Honest Jew speaks
akhenaten ,   Cairo, Egypt   (05.24.08)
Please read exerpt from: Growing up as a Jew in Cairo By Victor D. Sanua, Ph. About 50 years ago, I came to America to study psychology. I was fluent in English but my speech had a slight accent? Many people would ask about my background. This was difficult to answer since one single response would not suffice. If I was asked my place of birth, it was Egypt (but I was not Egyptian ) . If I was asked about my passport, I indicated I was Italian, but never lived in Italy; if they inquired about the origin of my family, I would indicate Spain but I had to add that my family left Spain about 500 years ago, went to Italy, and later settled in Istanbul where I found burial stones with the name Sanua (meaning "modest" in Hebrew), one dated early 17th.. Century. The only thing I was sure about in my background was the fact that I was Jewish. I am presenting this short exchange to indicate that a large number of Jews born in Egypt were not culturally indigenous to the country. During the middle of the 19th. Century, the ruler of Egypt who wanted to modernise the country readily accepted Europeans, consequently, a large number of Ladino speaking Jews came from Turkey. In time, the dominant foreign language became French, in view of the large number of French schools such as the Lycee Fancais and the Catholic Schools ( Frères) which were attended by a large number of Jewish children. My education started in the school of Bab-el-Louk. Besides French, two other languages were taught, English and Arabic. Two hours a week were devoted to the language of the country. Since the Arabic that was taught was classical and had little to do with spoken Arabic, many of us were never conversant with the language, unless the home language was Arabic. However, we were able to manage with "street" Arabic... All department stores had French speaking employees. In my home, we spoke French and Ladino. Depending on their background, Jews spoke other languages. The small Askenazi community spoke Yiddish. Of course, the different nationals whose parents came from various countries spoke the language of their origin, and schools were established for Italians, Germans, Greeks and Armenians. A few scools taught in English. Since most of the students who attended such schools and who wanted to pursue professional careers could not attend Egyptian Universities because of Arabic deficiencies had to go abroad. Only few students attended Egyptian Universities. In view of the decline of France as a power , learning English became more important and it was at that time that I pursued my education in English, first in he high school attached to the American University at Cairo, and later in their liberal college which made it possible for me to continue with my studies in the U.S.A. Social life for Jews, between the two World Wars, was quite pleasant. Life centred on families, club activities and swimming pool facilities. Cairo had practically everything that a major European city could offer, Italian operas, ballet, Comedy Francaise, foreign symphony orchestras, etc. We had the most recent movies produced in the U.S.A., England, France and Italy. Alexandria was the major Resort City where many Cairenes went to the beaches during vacation time. Alexandria and Cairo had numerous nightclubs presenting shows. There was one particular favourite place for dinner and dancing in Cairo that was called Groppi. I was a member of a club called Judeo-Espagnol but, because of the rising nationalism, the name was changed to Judeo-Egyptian. For a more in-depth exposé of my experiences, the reader is referred to the book Fields of Offerings by Victor D. Sanua ( Ed.) Ruthrford: Fairleigh Dickinson University Press, 1983. Dr. Victor Sanua is Research Professor in the Dept. Of Psychology at St. John's University, Jamaica, NY 11439. http://www.sefarad.org/publication/lm/037/10.html
20. Well, If That's the Way the Egyptians Feel
Thomas   (05.24.08)
"Why should we bring in Jews born in Egypt who preferred to flee to Israel, which has fought us in blood-soaked wars," the broadcaster asked." The Israelis are perfectly entitled to the same line of reason.
21. Arab refugee and jewish refugee.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (05.24.08)
Indeed, tens of thousands among the Palestinian Arab elite fled before the start of hostilities, eager to escape the anticipated fighting. Of those who left during the fighting, most simply sought to avoid the hostilities. In various locations, most notably Haifa, from which about 15% of the refugees originated, they fled despite well-documented appeals by the local Jewish leadership that they stay. Some, perhaps another 15% of the refugee total, were forced to leave, from areas such as the villages that prevented Jewish access to Jerusalem and were part of the blockade and siege of city. About 120,000 Arabs remained in the areas controlled by the Jews, constituting about 16% of the state’s early population. The Israeli Arab community has grown to constitute currently more than 20% of the population. But what of the Jews living in areas that fell under Arab control? Every one of them was either killed or expelled. Not one remained. You ask about a right of return of Jews forced then and in subsequent years to flee the Arab states, in fear for their lives. Few presumably would want to return to those states. But what about a “right of return” of Jews pushed out of those Mandate areas that fell to the Arabs? Not only do the Palestinians not recognize such a right, but they insist that every Jew currently living in the territories taken in the 1967 war must leave, including descendants of those forced out in 1947-48. Nor does it speak well of the broader world community that it so widely endorses the Palestinian leadership’s insistence that what it claims as its territory must be Judenrein. . 23. Adib's broacast is high rooted
observer   (05.24.08)
Television presenter, Amr Adib is well known in Egypt to be in the presidential circle since he interviewed Mubarak on the TV in a program about Mubark's biography, a couple of years ago. His wife and brother, TV presenters, have been also in that close circle. It is highly likely that Egypt is not ready, in the time being, to handle several issues in the same time. the first is the security of large group of Israelis, regardless of being Jews or not. The second is to expose the Nationalization Laws or decrees which have been considered as major gains for the people brought about by the 23 July Revolution of 1952. Mubarak and large political sector are holding the Revolution in high esteem. Those Nationalization decrees were marked by Nationalization of the Seuz Canal Company in 1956 which have been viewed as the major cause of Israel's 1956 war on Egypt. Large number of Egyptian Jews left Egypt in the wake of that war, either by their own will or because they anticipated difficulty in living after Israel's war; similar to the American Japanese after the Pear Harbor bombing. Muslim' and Christian's properties as well as Foreigners' properties were much more involved in the Nationalization process. The state announced that all properties would be compensated for. The solution is arrange those root visits on personal nor on group basis. Those who has claims to property proceed their papers to the court. Abu Hasira tomb, near Alexandria, and an area around has been ruled by Court as Jewish public area, although the Egyptian Jewish community is 100 persons.
24. thats is nothing but lies #21
jerusalem   (05.24.08)
the palis left during the hostilities to avoid being killed. my dad's mom was on the verge of leaving(taking her children with her)-her house had been bombed about 4-6 times by army tank shells in the eastern jerusalem area. thank goodness for my mom's dad though that kept the family still in the country and fled(with the families) to the barren hill areas to avoid being killed. the jewish soldiers were shooting at anything that made a move. thats illogical for the palis to flee the country before the hostilities even began; they were forced to leave to avoid being randomly blown up in their homes and being shot to death whether en masse or making a slight move or given an ultimatum to leave or be shot by jewish forces invading their village. (almost like what hitler did to them, if not worse). thats IF they werent killed first or anyway. dont use the euphemism "hostilities" , you mean "slaughter" or "killed" because thats all they have been doing sine 48'. so forget that crap about the jewish anyone that filed appeals to encourage them to stay. i wonder why jews didnt stay during the holocaust then or had to take refuge in some caring german's houses to avoid being discovered. i dont see how the jews could be expelled of killed when they happened to be armed to the teeth with artillery and weapons-not to mention the israeli police being everywhere. the other day on a documentary of the conflict, a very man said that arabs and jews would live in the same building, below one story. and what could he do? nothing. and besides the way the government plays things out is by apartheid , and what "arab control" i havent seen any since 48'. the only thing i am going to say about jews fleeing the arab countries for their lives is give an example of the jews of iran and their unwillingness to leave the country. you can say its due to the deficiency of expenses, if the arabs want them out they can force them out, after all its an arab country. of those jewish rabbis up there in the iranian govt' can fund their departure. i wonder is israel the country has made an incentive for them to leave. i probably know less than you about iran anyway, atleast i dont get my info from some blog though. http://www.sephardicstudies.org/iran.html and why should the jews that came leave? this land has ties with the three major faiths in the world, its the holy land for gods sake. stop instigating for hates sake. though it wouldnt kill ya'll to be have and recognize the other people you live around. your ambitions to make this country what ever YOU want it to be and disregard everyone else isnt working, not to mention never will. and there are enough examples to prove it.
25. Israelis have no rights in Egypte after what they have done
Johan Odin ,   Oslo, Norway   (05.24.08)
Their claims are clearly a joke given the crimes that Israel has, and continues to perpetrate, upon the Palestinians. For some reason Israelis seem to believe that regardless of the multitudes of evils that that they themselves have committed against others that they should be given special rights over all. Until the Palestinians have been returned their rights to their homeland, Jews have no right to point fingers at anyone else on the planet, and Egypt was right in sending these greedy Israelis packing.
26. #3 and vice versa
(05.24.08)
It would have been better to keep the Sinai and explore for oil, even if the Egyptian nation is not anti-semitic. Do Jews believe that the US has to compensate Israel for return of Sinai to Egypt? I've almost forgotten; the US already has.
27. Where were you?
Norma Fares   (05.24.08)
Amr Adib, moderator of Al-Qahira El-Yom, on Orbit: Where were you and your rulers when Jews gave the Ancient Egypt what you are proud of today ? Misr Al-Mahrousa and Misr Oum El-Dunia, you have nothing to do with it. The day when Israel decides to remove settlements in Hebron will be hopefully in return of not only Alexandria but of the biggest settlement ever in history i.e. Arabs over the mediterranean sea. Saudi Orbit on Egyptian Satellite...what a happy marriage! No real peace btween peoples unless it is based on geniune willing to love...just love. God is Love, Peace and Creativity! Why is it that hard? In God I believe. Peace to all.
28. Return and anti-Jew anti-Israel posts
Arie ,   BaGolan   (05.24.08)
One thing that stands out from the talkbacks is the traditional anti-Jew sentiment of the arab and european posters. FACT: Those looking to visit in the group had made it very clear that their intent was strictly to visit the place of their or their parents births. Mo more no less. Yet, all it to was an article by adib, who is on mubarak's payroll as are all the writers of the state-run newspapers (EVERY news media in egypt!) to begin the usual arab anti-Jew histrionics. These are the people olmert calls his partners, and I do understand why: he seeks acceptance in the arab world much like the Chief Rabbi of Rome sought acceptance by the Catholic Church by allowing millions of Jews to perish. We must see this article for what it is and mubarak and the egyptians for what they are. Where is hamas getting its explosives and rockets from? Maybe from iran but it is being fed through egypt. olmert and his bandits know this. Where is the hamas money coming from? the saudis and iran, through egypt. Yet the olmert gang allows egypt to dictate the terms of the very LULL that hamas admits will ONLY be used to geain further weaponry and try and destroy us.
29. Egypt
i ,   jerusalem   (05.24.08)
These are the people(?) that let tourists bleed to death on the beach and refused our ambulances access. This was the early example of the the peace we have this nest of vipers. An Israeli going there or promoting tourism need their head checked.

I am sure if these were Palestinians who were whinning about wanting about their property or their parents and grandparents property back when they left in the 1948 war you would have no problem with that at all. You must really hate Jews alot. Why don't you go post on websites like Stormfront or David Duke.com were your views will be more appreciated?
