You are right - the problem with our nation today is that the world's opinion is more important to our elected governments that God's promises and warning in Scriptures. Thanks God He does have a solution to the problems, yet many won't like it,. especially the U.S., the EU, the UN and so on and so on....

33. M. #28: We've got the same problem here
Steve ,   US   (05.25.08)
I am learning as I go. I'm a lifelong registered Republican. I voted for this scoundrel in the White House, November 2000. I deeply regret not voting him out of office in 2004. Instead, I turned the page. I've got no one to blame but myself for all the terrible things Bush has done to Israel. He is a disaster. Now my conservative neighbors -- virtually every Jew who has a blog -- are saying, "Vote for McCain, lest Obama ("the Muslim") become president." I'm sorry, I am not going to repeat this folly. Republican national party platform since the advent of 911 and Bush, now calls for a Palestinian (terror) state and the forcible removal of Jewish communities from our land! McCain and the Republicans support this. I know they support it. I am a Republican; former party activist. Did you see where McCain threw a couple of Evangelical pastors under the bus. I am a Jew. I disagree with my Christian neighbors on theology but make no mistake what this is about. These Christians support the Jews' right to the land of Israel. I will no longer vote for Republicans at the national level so long as they are committed to dismembering Israel and establishing a Muslim jihadists state in our land. Republicans and conservatives say, "Barack Obama is a Muslim, a friend of Muslims and he will be an enemy of the Jews in Israel." Maybe so but I'm not voting for John McCain because he is an enemy, who like Bush, champions himself a friend of Israel. Nonsense! This is my recommendation to you, for what it's worth. If the head of Likud, be it Sharon, Olmert, Netanyahu or whomever, even hints that he will negotiate with these jihadist killers like Abbas, that he will work on the so-called "peace" process or road map, I would not vote Likud. Send them a message. Don't vote for the "lesser of the evils!" Evil is evil.
34. 30 M.: Look in a mirror to see who does not read the Bible.
Rivkah   (05.25.08)
Much of the Bible is written of events that will happen, not events that happened long ago. Zephaniah speaks of the attacks on the high towers that is obviously the attack on the WTC towers in 2001, not four thousand years ago. Palestina was the name the Romans gave to Judea in disgust at the rebellions. That is the Latinized version of Philistia, the land along the coasts of Canaan where David fought Goliath and the ancient Philistine enemies of the Jews. Are you SURE you are from Israel, being ignorant of such things? If it was the Jews who would be slain on the coasts of Canaan in the latter days, Zephaniah would have said Jews or Israelites. He said Philistines which in Latin is Palestine for Palestinians. Most people are a mix of races. But the verses in Zephaniah are referrring to ENEMIES of the Jews. First Gaza is FORSAKEN, then Ashkelon is a desolation, then Ekron and Ashdod are driven out in the noon day, Zephaniah said. That is happening in that order or sequence of events, just as the Prophet said it would. Why don't you read some more? You need to.

I agree that it it would have been beneficial if there were more protests and demonstrations prior to the disengagement. However, I don't think that it would have made a different to a stubborn old man who made his decision and wouldn't have changed it even if Eliahu Hanavi (Elijah the Prophet) came down and warned him not to do it. Sharon reneged on his promise to honor the results of the Likud referendum and realized that he could have lost a national referendum Sharon was like a driver who has decided to make a left turn at the next upcoming intersection - no matter what- and can't reverse his decison when the left turn leads to the top of a deep cliff. Sharon's blunder was compounded by the fact that the Israeli army was then withdrawn from the Philadelphi route and the security of Israel was turned over to Egypt and foreign monitors. The fact that Sharon was succeeded by a weak and unscrupulous leader like Olmert and a pathetic coalition that will not and cannot protect Israel's security does not excuse Sharon's blunder. May Hashem have mercy on the state of Israel and protect us against a leadership who will talk to Syria, Hamas, Hetzoballah, etc. but have no pity on the victims of these enemies of Israel.

After your last comment I feel that I should state clearly that I am a Jew and a firm believer in the God of Israel. I completely agree that rocket launching jihadists would never have been tolerated by Canada or the US, and that they shouldn't be tolerated by Israel. My point is that the disengagement was only a retreat because of the weakness that accompanied it. The vastly outnumbered Jews in Gaza were vulnerable to the hostile Arabs around them and therefore a lot of military resources were required to protect them. At the same time, the stigma of having a military presence in Gaza limited the strength with which the IDF was able to respond to terrorism. I do not believe in "tit for tat" warfare. War is not about measured retaliation and ensuring that your responses are not deemed excessive. War is about crushing your enemy. I believed that through the disengagement, with the Jews who lived in Gaza out of harms way and the IDF having more available resources, Israel would have the opportunity to deal a decisive blow to Hamas and the other jihadists and terrorists operating in Gaza. You seem to mistake my ideology for one of weakness and appeasement.

Why not try building a Midle East Union where Pals may be special citizens of this union. In this config there is no need to change borders.

40. # 26 - U R so Right , damn it ....
not naive   (05.26.08)
Either Sharon's son is naive, or he's rather seeking a pretext to back his father . Anyway, Sharon made [at least] TWO major mistakes, both are so-to-say lethal : 1] Evacuation of Gaza Strip - the consequences are a tragedy. 2] Choosing Olmert as his deputy = Tragedy and Farce altogether.
41. 26 & 35: Sharon did not give Israel Olmert and Sharon was
Rivkah   (05.26.08)
not blamed by God for Gaza. Sharon told Olmert he would be in authority for three hours and that was all. But then Sharon was given the wrong medicine, an injectable blood thinner that was contraindicated for one of his conditions, perhaps even an overdose. So it was the physicians who gave Israel Olmert, not Sharon. God did not blame Sharon for pulling out of Gaza. The Haredim Rabbis blamed him and the physicians or physician carried out the curse, in my opinion. That was not God's doing. God found America to be the culprit in the Gaza pullout and an equal percentage of Americans lost their homes the day after the Gaza pullout was completed. Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans and the surrounding areas the day after the Gaza pullout and an equal percentage of Americans in America lost home as the percentage of Israelis in Gaza lost homes. Go to www.biblecodedigest.com where the ELS Code research was done to see Katrina intersecting ha'Shem.
42. 33 Steve: There may be "a shoot-out at the OK Corral"
Rivkah   (05.26.08)
since Hillary Clinton said last week that she was staying in the race because Robert Kennedy was assassinated in June when he was running for US President in 1968. Obama, after the IOWA vote, asked, "How do you fight a white woman. Like O. J. Simpson?" It will be sad to see if one of them is assassinated...or both. I don't see how a 72 year old who has had cancer three times and is farther left politically than Hillary Clinton which is pretty far left, is going to win.
43. gaza withdrawal

as much as I thought your father was very capable, he was wrong to adopt olmert's inspired unilateral gaza withdrawal. That is clear now.

we created the wall unilaterally. did we then also create the border of a future state point: all the implications are not always clear, so chew on them before swallowing
