I read this and laughed. These opportunistic jerks will sell out for anything. First they said that they would leave the gov't if Jerusalem was "on the table" in talks with the PA. They mumbled some weak excuse and stayed put while Olmert greased their palms with land for Haredi housing. Now they burble about "fighting to keep the Golan". Don't worry, Shas isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Olmert will find it easy to bribe these idiots again - and again. Hypocrites!

They talk big now but weren't they members of the Gvt. that expelled Jews from Gush Katif and handed it over to the terrorists who demolished the green houses and turned the area into a terrorist base? Isn't Shas led by Yishai the party that was thrown a crumb of less than 300 housing units in Beitar Illit and still stays in the gvt. despite teh fact that the Palis, and Livni openly say that Jerusalem is on the chopping block?

Somehow their party's name is constantly misspelled. It's the Sheisse Party, not the Shas Party.

I didn't and won't vote for Shas but it works to give it voters what they voted for and more so than any other party. Shas will not allow the division of Jerusalem or the giving away of the Golan, neither of which would pass the Knesset anyway. I voted for Lieberman and his party pulled out of the coalition. Syria cedes Sheba farms to Lebanon!

Where I come from an individual who says "I got your back", is trusted by his prior performance and reputation for integrity. His credibility is based on his word; his personal level of trustworthiness. The leadership of Shas, has not exactly been a beacon of light in the area of integrity. I do not believe that I would trust my "back" to Yishai OR Mofaz. No. There will not be a sane person who would trust either of these polititurds NOT to look to their opwn personal fortunes, both economic and political befopre that of the Israeli nation.

Mofaz is looking to chalange Livni to take the Kadima top spot and he knows the majority of the puiblic are againstlselling the Golan to Assad to keep Olmert out of jail and satisfy his political ego by being the man who got Assads signature on paper making an empty promise of peace. Mofaz just wants to sound like his own man and at this stage chalanging Olmert publicly can only help your career no need to worry about where will you be when he makes any changes to the cabinet because he wont be around long enough. Shas does anybody believe a word they say anymore, they are natural Olmert allies they will support the highest bidder. This party thats supposed to stand for judiaism is willing to let Olmert sell Jerusalem for the right price so the Golan has even less importance to them. They are all full of bullshit

Shas has something to say of the golan..First ask how much does it cost the country?? Shas wants but will only take.No soldiers.no health .no work,but give me give me--Mofaz talks a lot and never has he done anything for Israel.

Mofaz, like Halutz, is demonstrating that the appeasement ideology of the left has infected even ex-IDF leaders. So, it's not OK to cede the land today, but maybe in a few years? Why should we invest in, populate, or protect the Golan when it will be ceded to an enemy state in only "25-30 years"? Israel owes Syria nothing. Let Syria come and sue for peace. Turkey stood their ground and Syria abandoned claims on Hatay. Israel should take a lesson. And Shas? They're bought and paid for. No one should count on them for anything.

After a withdrawal from the Golan, Israel would no longer have a strategic buffer. Any attack by Syria, Be it by Assad or by his successors, would require an immediate nuclear response. These phony "peace" talks will only lead to future war that will leave massive destruction as the only effective defense.

"Shas would stand beside them in order to prevent any attempt to evacuate them from the Golan."; and Mofaz will not hand over Golan, NOW. They both do not say they will vote against giving Golan to Syria later. They gave no promise about that at all. In fact they hedged on that big issue.
