61. To #15: To Steve -The Torah says death for adultery!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (05.27.08)
The Torah in Leviticus proclaims death for many "crimes" which in modern society are no longer considered even illegal. A good example of this is adultery. If we invoked the death penalty for all those biblical offences we would kill off half the population of Israel! Also, for crimes like murder, rape, child molestation and so on the death penalty is too quick. Israel is a Jewish mother and never forgets and seldom forgives. She punishes by guilt! The death penalty denies her of her right to punish in her way! Further, the Torah says: Thou shalt not kill" and any religious person, I am not one, will tell you that there is no higher authority than G-d and the Torah! The New Testament also proclaims "Vengeance is mine, says the Lord" so let Him decide what to do with our delusional PM which basically hasn't committed ANY crime, yet! If any crime has been committed it is by the right wing as they have neglected the Golan and Galilee for years!
62. MK Eldad has really lost the plot
Simon ,   TA Israel   (05.27.08)
Dangerous words from someone in a positon of power. He should be severly repremanded for such a stupid statement. This is exactly the kind of incitement that lead to the assination of Yitzhaq Rabin.
63. M.K. Eldad
benlazar ,   Israel   (05.27.08)
M.K. Eldad did not incite the murder of a prime minister. Any sane person would know that he was refering to a court of law. Its a sad situation when not only the left hurls false accusations at someone who always speaks the truth but also M.K. Orlev. Its been the tradition of the mafdal or what ever it is called now to point a finger at those that are not afraid to call a spade a spade.
64. David #61: Torah says death but Jews are lenient
Steve ,   Fla.   (05.27.08)
We Jews are lenient. God is merciful. Isn't He? As historian Paul Johnson wrote in "A History of the Jews:" to paraphrase him: "The shadow of the law lay over Prime Minister Olmert's head." Maybe Olmert deserves life in prison instead of death. Life without parole. I have no respect for this corrupt man. Do you? He has done much damage to Israel, to the land of Israel and to the people of Israel; he and Ariel Sharon. So much damage. The state law mandating death or imprisonment is a good one. Isn't it? If it discourages treasonous acts like Olmert commits, it is good. Further, the Torah says, You shall not murder. Capital punishment for treason is not murder. It is justice.
65. Simon#62: Tel Aviv (TA, Israel)
Steve ,   Fla.   (05.27.08)
Someone wrote earlier, unlike the Golan, TA has no strategic value. Maybe he is right. Perhaps we should incorporate you and TA into Gaza?
66. #62 Just remember who first gave the arabs guns.
Safta M ,   Negev   (05.27.08)
Yes, YITZCHAK RABIN. The guns were foolishly given so that they could protect themselves. But instead they turned the guns on us. What goes around, comes around. If we give away the Golan, Iran will be on our doorstep ready to try and destroy us. We need strong leadership to say NO to what is not in our best interest, regardless to what the world says. This government must go sooner than later. Olmert is trying to change the headlines from his criminal problems. Don't fall for that old trick.
67. #63 your words are 100% correct
Safta M ,   NETIVOT   (05.27.08)
No man has the right to give away 1 inch of our G-D given land.
