1. Can we afford to avoid a preventive strike against...
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (05.28.08)
Can we afford to avoid a preventive strike against a declared genocidal Iran ? A nuclear Iran has become an increasingly contentious issue. In the light of Western impotence, many Israelis are calling for a preventive strike against a declared genocidal intention. According to Israeli analysts, without preventive military action, production of an Iranian bomb is just a matter of time. Moreover, the annihilationist rhetoric used by Iran’s leaders, chiefly by President Ahmadinejad, is not a matter of sloganeering but indeed a program, in which the destruction of Israel is indispensable for the attainment of Iran’s manifest destiny – the “islamization” of the world. A quasi-consensus is emerging in Israel on the necessity of bombing Iranian nuclear installations.

Something BIG happened in Arak a few days ago...(wink)
4. Iran vs. USSR
NYC Girl   (05.28.08)
The mistake that many people in the West are guilty of is drawing a parallel between a nuclear-armed USSR and a nuclear-armed Iran. The reason why the policy of "Mutual Assured Destruction" between America and the Soviet union could succeed was because, unlike the Iranian regime, the Soviet Union WASN'T suicidal and its leaders didn't embrace the Armageddon narrative of people like Ahmadinejad.
5. what about you?

Dear gentleman what are your comments about your own country's nuclear arsenals?
6. Suicidal regime
Jerrold Cohen ,   Seal Beach USA   (05.28.08)
Does it ever occur to you people that Israel is a suicidal regime? It is told daily that it is breaking international law in building the Wall, in occupying the West Bank, in expanding settlements, in stealing land that it doesn't own, and starving over a million people. Iran has been around for millennia. Israel has been around for 60 years. Guess who is going under. Guess who the real suicidal regime is.
7. Re: #6 regimes
Historical Truth ,   L.A., USA   (05.29.08)
This Iran regime has only been around about 30 years when the Ayatollas kicked out the Shah. Israel has been a nation for 60 years. In the ancient kingdoms, Israel was around centuries before Persia came onto the scene of history when Cyrus of Persis conquered the Chaldean-Babylonians who had previously conquered the Kingdom of Judah which had split from the United Kingdom of Israel under King David and Solomon. **Check your facts** Ancient Israel is much older than Persia. AND the current govt of Israel is also older than current govt of Iran.
8. Iran Rational Actor
E ,   Tel aviv   (05.29.08)
Comparative analysis of different countries in history and linking them to the Iranian regime does not shed light on the decision making process of the Iranian regime. The Taliban and Iraq are not the same as Iran nor should it be compared as the same. Our research based only on Iranian decision making processes, shows Iran is much more rational than you think and contrary to the belief that it is a suicidal regime we found quite opposite information. They believe the fall of their regime is the fall of Islam since they link their regime as the core of Islamic civilization.
9. If Israel were to attack Iran
Zooog ,   US   (05.29.08)
What happens next? Even if successful, they will redouble their efforts to obtain a nuclear weapon with good cause. Does Israel have the guts to (nuclear) bomb them back into the stone age so that it will be a very long time before they can threaten anyone?
10. #6 ru stupid or something?!?!?
jerome ,   basalt, co   (05.29.08)
11. Not impressed (didn't even read all this worthless dribble)
Smith ,   TA, Israel   (05.29.08)
You're going senial you old fool. Saddam caved into Western pressure and allowed UN inspectors into Iraq. The reason USA & UK upset everyone was that they attacked Iraq anyway. The USA set a deadline, the inspectors called for more time, Iraq was cooperating, the build-up demanded an invasion in Spring. Who are you trying to fool? Another general thinks he can be a good politician.....
