Israel has no right to the Golan which it occupied when it attacked Egypt, Jordan and Syria in 1967 to obtain access to water resources outside its legal borders in the Golan, Gaza and the West Bank. If Israel wants peace it must end its occupations and instead negotiate in good faith for a share of the water resources it currently steals from others. Israelis have foolishly overused and polluted much of their own water resources and most that they've stolen, so perhaps by making peace it can obtain cooperation with neighboring Arab states and share the limited resources equally amongst all nations in the region. If not, Israel will face a severe crisis as its own coastal aquifers are drying up or becoming brackish and the aquifers that are stealing from the Palestinians are becoming depleted, so time is not on Israel's side.

Peace means creating peace, not giving away parts of Israel. Israel has tried to make peace and its is the Arabs that have rejected peace EVERY single time for 100 years. Even today, Egypt is in violation of its peace agreement with Israel. Jordan Palestine, which IS the Arab Palestine and only one that will ever exist still has racist laws preventing Jewish citizenships. You want peace? When will the Arab world give back the land stolen from the Jews? I have heard estimates that it is as high as 100 times the current size of Israel? How about compensating the 850,000 Jewish refugees, more than the Arab refugees? This is always a me me me thing for the Arabs. Peace is based on making peace, not barking orders. Its time for the Arab world to recognize this and time for Eurabia to stop appeasing this. As for the water resources? Golan was always part of mandate for Israel until French took it away to create fake country of Syria. Syrian border never bordered Kinneret except when land was stolen from Israel. Let see. Israel made the dessert bloom. Introduced universities FOR arabs in Gaza and Judea and Samaria. Even allowed the Muslims to occupy the holy of holies. You want to promote peace? Promote ending the Muslims desecration of the Temple Mount. There can never be peace with them occupying the Temple Mount. Ban everyone from the Temple Mount. Israel indeed conquered the Golan only after Syria,Egypt & Jordan & Iraq massed troops alongside Israel´s border. In the north it was from the Golan Height that Israeli farmers were frequently attacked , not vice versa. Israel should have given The Arabs living in the west bank (but not Jerusalem which should have been Israel's as part of the partition) to Jordan. Through out history the winner keeps the spoils - most especially land. It is very obvious especially after the lebanon war that Israel is not in the strong position anymore, the IDF is tired, politicians are strumbling here and there, Hamas is getting bigger day after day and europe is opening dialog channels with them as well. Israel realizes that Bush is leaving and what is next in the american adminstration will never give her what was already given. The U.S role in the middle east is shrinking and nobody is obeying the U.S like it was 5 years ago. And since the army was not able to finish its mission in lebanon , then the force is no longer the mean to break the very strong and dengerous coalition of Iran, Syria, Hizbola and Hamas. I think Israel is in a weak position and starting peace talks with Syria is good for Israel more than for Syria.

The Golan is not Olmerts private property to do with as he pleases and simply hand over to Assad for his own personal glory and a justification to stay in office by saying peace talks will colapse if he goes. The Golan and Jerusalem are both soverign Israeli territory just the same as Tel Aviv or Sderot. Unlike Gaza or Judea & Samaria these areas were formerly anexed to Israel. Also trading in the Golan for Assads signature on a piece of paper wont bring peace it will create a situation thats even more unstable. Assad will flood the Golan with hundreds of thousands of arabs which of course will include terrorists. This will not only put terrorists on Israels doorstep but allmost certainly the Druze will also be driven out and they are going to come looking for refuge in Israel so we will probably find ourselves with thousands of Druze looking for Israeli citizenship. Iran will be put onto Israels front door. Assad isnt going to end his strategic aliance with Iran just because Israel wants him to. What happens when Assad allows his Iranian friends to build airbases within striking range of Israel or station tanks just short of the Golan? If Ahmadinijad tells Assad he wants to allow Hizbollah to attack Israel from the Golan then he will but he will just have plausable deniability. Who needs shihab rockets to attack Israel when you can have planes stationed in Syria they have allready signed a joint millitary pact. Syria & Iran wil be right up to the shores of the Kineret which Assad wants access rights to. The cost of moving 8000 jews from Gaza cost over $1 billion and that was just the intial moving cost, the fact that most are still unemployed, living in hotels, claiming unemployment benefits isnt even included in the final price. There are over 4 times that many jews in the Golan think what its going to cost just to move out that many people, then find them new homes & jobs. It will cost billions, we will also loose the millions of dollars we gain each year from Golan exports or tourism all that will be gone. Then there will be the billions involved in relocating millitary bases and early warning stations. Even if the Americans part financed it just when we have economic growth we will be taking ourselves into recension for the next decade. This isnt Sinai or Gaza. Gaza we know was a disaster and Sinai wasnt anywhere near as developed and and highly populated as the Golan is today. The residents of the Golan are also the largest demographic group there followed by the druze there are very few arabs and they live in peace with their naighbors. Allthough there is nothing on paper we have had an unoficial pece wit Syria for 30 years now and we are about to choose to give up all of that in exchange for Assads signature and Olmerts moment of glory. Just think peace for Iran on the front door, terrosists closer to Israel, less security, recesion, making thousands of jews into refugees. What a really good deal we will be getting. Egypt has broken agreements made in 1979 time and time again even trying to blockade Israeli shipping lanes. We have Saudi Arabia who bought F15s on the condition they would not be based within striking range of Israel. They are currently within striking range of Israel but the Americans are turning a blind eye. We pulled out of Lebanon because Barak told us it was going to bring peace ... what peace? We pulled out of Gaza rather than calm we got increased terror. America has also been calling for Israel to give up its neuclear deterent for over 10 years now but via Egypt we have Mubarak constantly calling for neuclear free ME but at Americas request as its to politicly sensetive for the US to do it directly. America allready virtualy decides when we can or cannot go to war. In 1991 when the scuds were being fired from Iraq Bush refused to give Israel the codes to tell the allied pilots friend or foe. In wars Israel doesnt even get to choose the time when ceacefires should be declared thats up to America and the UN. Amrica sells weapons to the enemy and turns a blind eye when they put them in range of Israel. The International border was only 10 meters from the shoreline, not enough for more than a bike path. Still that is not worth a Syrian embassy in Tel Aviv. They want an equal share to the Kinneret. Perhaps Olmert will get enough envelopes to agree, but hopefully there are still at least 61 sane members in the Knesset.
