3. ABOUT TIME....IT IS HAPPENING NOW IN SYRIA
YITZAK BEN SHLOMO   (05.29.08)
THE Sunni regime MIGHT within a relatively short period of time, TAKE OVER ASAD . AS SUCH USA IS FAST AND APT IN IDENTIFYING THE MILITARY RISK EVOLVING THEREIN . THE TURKISH PEACE TALK IS NOT RELEVANT TO ANYTING AS WE SEE IT, TURKEY IS ONLY INTERESTED TO BREAK THE CLUSTERS OF THE KURDISH SUPPORT BY SYRIA. TURKEY SHOULD KNOW BY NOW THE SUNNI REGIM IS EVOLVING QUICK TO TAKE OVER ASAD. ThAT IS A BAD NEWS, WITH NUK PLANTS IN SYRIA. LIVING FLOWERS IN THE MONKEY HANDS IS NOT WISE THING TO DO ! JUST BOMB !
4. Iran and its servile ally Syria.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (05.29.08)
We should not miss a second occasion to destroy the terror state Syria. That way we hurt also the fanatic Islamic state of Iran. As a result of a harsh military defeat of Syria the dictatorship of El-Assad may collapse. This might open a new and positive era of relations between Israel and Syria but the Golan should remain a part of Israel.
5. Why can Israel and the USA have nuclear power but not Syria?
Johan Odin ,   Oslo, Norway   (05.29.08)
How arrogant is the USA who is developing a new wave of nuclear bombs and Israel who hid their own clandestine nuclear weapons program from the world pointing fingers at others.. The only way to achieve a balance of power and prevent nuclear war as we learned in the Cold War is for there to be a state of mutually assured destruction, so why shouldn't every nation have nuclear weapons to prevent only a few from forcing their will upon others. The USA and Israel have not been elected the worlds dictators as they seem to believe they are given their arrogant attitude towards forcing their will upon others by military force, so who cares if other nations have the ability to deter their aggression. The cat is already out of the bag, so unless Israel is disarmed of its own WMDs and the playing field leveled, nuclear proliferation may be the best hope of maintaining peace. If not, the haves will continue to force their own agendas upon the have nots and the wars and deaths of civilians will continue unabated

lydiadaye ,   Brisbane, Australia   (05.29.08)
The enemy of Israel is not just Syria but the entire Muslim World. The illegal occupation on Arab land has been an embarrassment not just to Sunni but to Shiites as well. The US bribed the 'moderates' but now the ME is awash with oil money bribing them is an exercise in futfutility.

You cannot compare democracy with checks and balances to a dictatorship, when it comes to play with "fire". It is as simple as that. What you can't understand? it is not amatter of having a capability, but a matter of your intentions. Syria and Iran not only don't recognize Israel but openly threatning it with destruction. Israel never threatened any of its neighbours with using nukes, so you can understand what is Israel intentions quite clearly. Besides, think of the possibility of such weapons getting into the hands of Terrorist organizations if Syria or Iran have such a capability,
8. what a shock. someone is awake in usa re syria nukes

9. Lydia - crawl back under your pebble!
Yaw Mama   (05.29.08)
The entire Muslim world attacked, and continues to attack. The lands occupied were the result of the attack by 7 Arab nations - the very second after the Jewish State was re-established - after it was, for so many centuries, a virtual, desolate desert Arab BACKWATER!! So Lydia of Lebanon in Brisbane - get it rightf!
10. # 2 Bunnie Meyer gives up the right to live in Israel
Citizen X ,   Ramat Gan   (05.29.08)
So how come bunnie wunnie you give up the right to live in Israel. Maybe Mr Olmert is right to give up the Golan as Jews like you dont want to even live in Eretz Israel. God gave Israel to the Jews but appaerntly its not good enough for you.
11. 6 - no wonder it's the embarrassment to the Muslim World

Johan, you show the kind of simple reasoning that is due to fail every time it is applied. What is your goal - parity between nations? Doesn't Norway need WMDs? Should it not protect itself from the predations of the Germans, Danes and Finns? No doubt you would say, "No, we are not afraid of these people and we have no plans to expand our borders, so we can do with our current level of defense." Well, that should be the reasoning of the Arab Muslim states. Israel has done nothing but contract since June, 1967. It represents zero threat of physical hegemony in the Middle East. Yet it is called upon to continue its unprecedented diminution of its boundaries. Reduced size and continuing threat from countries who do not even share a common border make it necessary to acquire and retain superior defenses. "Parity" in your terms is merely an increased risk factor for war, nuclear or otherwise. I might add that deep in your heart, despite your words, you know that your calculus is a false one, and I speculate therefore that you would like Israel to disappear. Johan, let me say to you in no uncertain terms that Israel will not go quietly into that good night. You and your country would be contributing far more to peace by supporting Israel, thus not giving false hope to the Muslims of a Jew-free Middle East. We are not colonizing foreign soil. We are home, where we belong.
13. #12, Well said Jerry!

Said ,   London, UK   (05.29.08)
Unfortunately, what you don't understand is that you ARE colonizers and you ARE occupying land that does not belong to you. The Arabs will NEVER accept you as anything else other than FOREIGN INVADERS; and until you and your people make that realisation, nothing will EVER change! You also forget that you came to the ARAB and largely Mulsim Middle East, yet you wish to impose yourselves where you are not welcome! When immigrants do not integrate into the larger "mainstream" culture, they will always be shunned and separated - what goes for individuals goes for countries too. You went to a conservative, religious region, and you expected to be accepted when you're espousing alien cultures! Wake up, for your own sake! This is not my opinion, this is the opinion of millions of Arabs and Muslims throughout the world - the "mainstream" opinion!
