1. Bibi is right. We must NEVER give away the Golan or Shabba.
Shlomo ,   Israel   (05.29.08)
2. Netanyahu and God.
DkS ,   J'lem, IL   (05.29.08)
Does he even believe himself what he is saying? Why do secular politicians always feel the need to insert God into their speeches? They think they are fooling anyone? And sure, let's continue to hold on to every single square centimeter of territory within Jerusalem's current boundaries. All those Arab neighbourhoods in the city were never part of J'lem, it was US who decided to make them part of the city after '67! And now we are stuck with them. Most of J'lems population is already not Zionist, in a few years most won't be Jewish either. But of course, J'lem will always be the 'undivided' capital of our Jewish/Zionist state. Rubbish! Wake up people, and you too Bibi. What will happen is so obvious a little child can understand it. Split the city, keep what is important to Israel, and hand over the rest. We don't need it. Redraw the municipal boundary, and try to turn Jewish J'lem into a city that's not only attractive to the Haredim who ruin this place. Maybe that will save our capital. Continuing like this means the death of this city!
3. Golan
Ron ,   Toronto   (05.29.08)
Netanyahu is all talk. He knows full well that Israel will have to return the Golan for peace. If he could get a full fledged peace treaty with Syria for the return of the Golan he would jump at it. I am a Jew, and strong Israel supporter. This is Syrian land and we all understand that.
4. Golon Heights
Richard R. ,   Buckeye USA   (05.29.08)
Talk is cheep/put up or shut up. Why does it take a scandel to get the elected officals to talk about removing PM Olmert. We look really bad in the eyes of the world. We are deeling with Iran a meg. power and Syria who is getting stronger by the day, Hezbala who has become a fighting machine, maybe not equal to Israel, but close. and Hummas who is building up it's army with outside help To the world we look like a scared rabbit. The time has come to get rid of all the peace nicks from the goverment. Why you ask? These so called Israeli will give the hole country away just to say we have peace now. Ha Ha what peace, so Syria can sit on top of the Golon Heights and firer her Rockets towards the Valley. So Hezbala can firer her Rockets into nothern Israel. So Hammus can invade the negev. We need a new goverment now, one with hind sight and who is not affraid of the United States or the world. This new goverment must do everything to protect Israel from the world who wants to see us destroyed. Time has come for elections.
5. Oh Bibi, you forgot Judea and Samaria
Daoud ,   Philadelphia   (05.29.08)
Or did you leave it out on purpose? Even more than the Golan, those areas are the cradle of the Jewish civilization.
6. BIBI FOR PRESIDENT!!!
Dan ,   San Jose, CA   (05.29.08)
I can't agree more with this guy. He is awesome. Pure genius. Put this guy back in power immediately Israel!
7. to # 3
Tomas ,   Bsas, Argentina   (05.29.08)
Tell me: do you think why Israel control Golan Heights after 1967?? Because Syria used to launch terror attacks, rocket attacks down to Israel. You say that if ISrael give back the golan, peace will be achieved. that´s BS! There were never peace with the Syrians and not over the Golan. Israel and Syria are at war since 1948. Do I have to mention that it was ARABS WHO REJECTED THE UN PARTITION PLAN IN 1947? DO I HAVE TO MENTION THAT IT WAS ARABS COUNTRIES WHO REJECTED FOR 60 YEARS THE PALESTINIANS REFUGGES, SECOND CLASS CITITZEN IN ARAB COUNTRIES? DO YOU KNOW WHY THERE ARE NO JEWISH REFUGGES IN THE WORLD, AFTER 1948 ARABS EXPELLED THEM FROM ITS COUNTRIES? ´COS ISRAEL TOOK THEM IN. PEACE WITH SYRIANS.... AMAZIING!!!!!!!!!!
8. To Ron, No. 3
New Yorker ,   New York, U.S.A.   (05.29.08)
Your logic is almost impeccable, escept that Arizona, California, New Mexico, etc. were all Mexican land. I'm curious what would have happened if Mexico demanded the return of those lands for "peace". Moreover, it's hard to imagine anything more peaceful than the Golan rtight now. I suppose, there are some folks around - jew or non-jew - who really understand why it is so. There are Jewish-Israeli communities who have been living in the Golan for generations now making it an integral part of the State of Israel. The Syrians couldn't hold on to this good piece of the land so they lost it for good. One just cannot turn the clock back.
9. labla labla labla
Wise Man ,   USA   (05.29.08)
Bibi will be the first one to gave the Golan away. This is hard talk to get elected. Mark my word
10. Judea and Samaria are also Israels historic land!
JAy3 ,   Israel   (05.29.08)
I would love to hear Bibi say there is no Palastinian people.....this is all jewish land!
11. This man will give away whatever he can give away
Steve ,   Fla.   (05.29.08)
Why didn't Binyamin Netanyahu say east Jerusalem, the Golan and the "West Bank," all of Judea and Samaria? Every square inch of land? Why? Because this man who retreated from Hebron and Gaza (2005) -- did he not support "disengagement?" -- will give away whatever he can give away in order to please his Washington master, just as Ehud Olmert wishes to please his Washington master; the little Texas godlet, George W. Bush. Don't the Jews remember this man embracing Yasser Arafat at Wye River? Are the Jews so naive, they think this right-hand man of Ariel Sharon is a great king in Israel? "Bibi, the melech of Yisrael?: He is not a great king. He is a little man who will betray Eretz Israel and the people of Israel.
12. Don't talk for all of us.
NC ,   Montreal, Canada   (05.29.08)
The British and the French decided that the Golan would be part of the French mandate of Syria back in the 1920s. The French mandate ended in 1944, and the Golan became Syrian territory. In 1967 Israel conquered the Golan in a defensive war. That means that the Golan was only sovereign Syrian territory for 23 years. It has now been Israeli territory for 41 years. The Golan has been part of Israel longer than it was part of Syria, and it was only part of Syria to begin with because of the French and British division of land. Don't use the word "we" when you make comments. You don't speak for me, you ignorant torontonian...
13. Golan
Jennie, NYC ,   New York, NY   (05.29.08)
To: #2 Your rhetoric about Natanyahu & Golan is vicious and untrue..Only someone, who is ignorant to even the most recent history of Israel's withdrawals and the consequences of it, would support the withdrawal from Golan. Forget about recent withdrawal from Gaza and the end of Gush Katif...The Golan heights were in the hands of Syria decades ago and it only caused katyusha barrages from the North. And now with Iran controling Syria do you think the withdrawal from Golan will bring peace? Even you know - it won't....Only a strong Israel wil be able to keep this tiny spek of land in the ocean of enemies for the Jewish people.
14. Bibi is Center-Left candidate
Amir ,   Beer Sheva   (05.29.08)
Since almost all Jews against give away of Golan, there is no even a slight chance that Golan will be given away. As to Olmert's Kadima organization, The members of this organization are there for money and nothing else. We will get rid of this organization, and they will have to find other jobs.
15. Sorry, Ron #3, Not in my name!
Jake   (05.29.08)
"I am a Jew, and strong Israel supporter. This is Syrian land and we all understand that. " Sorry Ron, but we do not "all understand that". Read "Six Days of War", by Michael Oren. It is clear that that Syria chose of its own volition to enter the 6-Day War, which was initially between Israel and Egypt only, and attack Israel in the "finger of the Galilee". Syria also attacked Israel from the Golan in 1948 and 1973, and since Israel consolidated its control over most of the Golan in 1974, quiet has prevailed on the Syrian front. Possession is 9/10 of the law. The remaining 1/10 of the law is that Israel gained control over the Golan in self-defense, and is therefore entitled to safeguard its gains.
16. Sad Farewell Israel ...
Rich ,   Wisconsin, USA   (05.30.08)
thought that law, justice, morality, and simple common sense would eventually prevail for a perceived intelligent people. Time is at an end for your ill-behaviours. Too bad ... Shalom - rich
17. Farewell Israel??
Jennie ,   NYC   (05.30.08)
I am sad for you ,Rich... There is plenty justice, morality, common sense and law to be seen in Israel. Just like any country in the world, there is plenty evidence of all sides of morality. But either you are Jewish or not, you should remember one thing: because there is Israel as a Jewish State, we Jews are not just people or just a religion, but we are a NATION. Israel will endure and survive...if we survived and remained Jews after over 5000 years of war on us, we are here to stay.
18. Israel OWNS Golan, never give it to terrorist syria.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Santa Monica,CA USA   (05.30.08)
19. Netanyahu: God willing, in the upcoming elections we will..
Besalel ,   Kew Gardens, NY   (05.30.08)

20. #3 Please stay in Toronto with that thinking.Real Jews don't
need you here! Putz! ,   Rueben, Israel   (05.30.08)
21. #3 Read Gen.chp.26, and Joshua chpt.13&15. Then tell Hashem
it is syrian land! ,   Rueben, Israel   (05.30.08)
22. ISRAEL SHOULD NEVER DANGLE CARROTS IT CAN'T AFFORD TO LOOSE!
David P. ,   Santa Cruz, USA   (05.30.08)
the middle east, including Israel, is still evolving. it's of little significance who resides on the land rather then who controls it. Israel must retain control over all of the land in now holds, including parts whose inhabitants are combative. in this day and age, with military technology being what it is, the consequences of not having territorial advantage are grave. Israel should never dangle a carrot it can't live without.
23. #3 IT'S FRENCH OTTOMAN PERSIAN ROAMAN JEWISH LAND
David P. ,   Santa Cruz, USA   (05.30.08)
Syria came along a few decades ago and is in no way immune to the shifting borders which continue evolve in the region. Syria should work on relinquishing what its seized from its other neighbors. I suggest you make that cause equally as worthy of your concern.
24. #12 - Israel, 1967, the Golan, defensive?
Doron ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (05.30.08)
You claim that: "In 1967 Israel conquered the Golan in a defensive war." How can 'conquer' and 'defensive war' go together??? There is a real confusion here. Though, it might be said that Israel conquered the Golan Heights in 1967 after a defensive war turned into an offensive war and expansionist goals.
25. re 12, Syria has owned Golan for thousands of years
Sayid ,   Sweden   (05.30.08)
beginning with the Syrian civilizations of Amorites and later Aramaeans, Then came the few jewish settlers that lived there for a short period of time. Also during the Ottoman Empire (1517-1917), the Golan was considered a part of the Syrian (Southern) district of their empire. When France ceded Golan to Syria this was a correction of the mistake of putting it together with Palestine in the first place, since historically, geographically and rightfully it is Syria's and no one else's.
26. who cares
kyle ,   usa   (05.30.08)
Who cares who owned it first, Syria started a war, lost, and as a result lost territory. Moral of the story dont launch a war if you cant accept the consequences of such action. Israel should make a permanent rule: if you start conflict with the nation and Israel is forced to invade all territory won in conflict will always remain in Israeli control. Other countries would think twice about loosing a bunch of land.
27. #25 Sayid,Syria forfeited all rights to the Golan!
andy ,   orlando,u.s   (05.30.08)
by their terrorist attacks aginst Israel 1948-67.Israel is the victor and does not owe Syria anything.Syria is part of the Iran/North Korea axis of evil and is huge sponsor of terrorism.
28. Doron #24: What is wrong with expansionist goals?
Steve ,   Fla.   (05.30.08)
Hey Doron, ever heard of north America? Manifest Destiny?
29. How will Bibi react after the elections,
Daniel Pinner ,   Kfar Tapuach, Israel   (05.30.08)
when he will be Prime Minister, and will be negotiating Israeli retreat from Golan to the shores of the Kinneret, and this article will be quoted to him?
