65. to #18 - Arabic names for Jerusalem
Shoshannah ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.08.08)
You mention that: "Arabs in Hijaz called it Bayt al-Maqdis... Arabs in the Levant used the Canaanite name UrShaleem, and others used the word Iliyaa... " Perhaps you don't know that "Bayt al-Maqdis" refers to the Holy Temple - in Hebrew Beit HaMikdash (NOT to your al-Aksa mosque that was built there in 715CE or the shrine of the Dome of the Rock built only in 695CE); the Canaanite name (which has nothing whatsoever to do with the Arabic language) UrShaleem is a name that was mentioned in Egypt, since Canaanite was a province of Egypt, NOT an Arabic or, of course, Muslim "country" at all; Iliyaa is simply the Arabic-language word for "Ariel" a name given by G-d to Jerusalem, which, by the way, goes by many names, all given to it by G-d and documented in the Torah & Tanech. In other words, Arabs in the Hijaz recognized the Hebrew connection to Jerusalem, while many Arabs and the mass of Muslims (led by their fanatical, anti-everybody Imans) today do not! In fact, there are MANY words used in Eretz Yisrael today which may be in the Arabic language but they retain the Hebrew names - names like Sil'wan, which comes from the Hebrew word Shilo'ach (in Greek, Silo'am). Some names for cities which have taken on an Arabic sound were actually Latin words such as "Neapolis" - a "new city" (built by the Romans next to the Hebrew city of Schkem), which name became corrupted over the years into "Nablus". That some place names in Israel today are in the Arabic language does not mean they are ethnically Arabic (or Muslim) places historically. I'm sure that Arabs have their own Arabic language names for many cities in the world, just like in any language - that does NOT make them Arabic or Muslim places or cities.
66. Bigoted!

Typical muslim attitude. Can't win an argument, assasination is next in their intention, I believe. Kuran is a poor counterfeit of the Torah, the Bible and a host of other religions.

About your first comment, you are being presumptious in claiming Jerusalem was the sight of the mosque mentioned. ""Whose precincts We did bless" - How do you know? That's just Muslim propaghanda. History shows Mohammed ordered his followers to turn their backs on Jerusalem, when he failed to be accepted by Jews and Christians and nturn towards his family's pagan alter in Mecca. Your second comment is silly. The Bible is hardly dry history without meaning. Just because the Koran is the most your illiterate prophet could babble based on what he knew of the Bible isn't an excuse for neglecting to mention Jerusalem by name. In fact, there's proof that Islamic jurists, after Mohammed died, added to the Koran because it was incomprehensible. See for example the Yemeni transcripts. Furthermore, we know Jerusalem is mentioned in Christian texts. This professor is not denying Christianity's connection to Jerusalem so I fail to see how that helps your argument.
70. Joseph 39: Jerusalem in the Jewish Bible
Steve ,   U.S.   (06.08.08)
"But you shall seek the LORD at the place which the LORD your God will choose from all your tribes, to establish His name there for His dwelling, and there you shall come.... "When you cross the Jordan and live in the land which the LORD your God is giving you to inherit, and He gives you rest from all your enemies around you so that you live in security, then it shall come about that the place in which the LORD your God will choose for His name to dwell, there you shall bring all that I command you: your burnt offerings and your sacrifices, your tithes and the contribution of your hand, and all your choice votive offerings which you will vow to the LORD. (Deu chapter 12) Thus Solomon finished the house of the LORD and the king's palace, and successfully completed all that he had planned on doing in the house of the LORD and in his palace. Then the LORD appeared to Solomon at night and said to him, "I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice. (2 Chr chapter 7) Now it came about when Solomon had finished building the house of the LORD, and the king's house, and all that Solomon desired to do, that the LORD appeared to Solomon a second time, as He had appeared to him at Gibeon. The LORD said to him, "I have heard your prayer and your supplication, which you have made before Me; I have consecrated this house which you have built by putting My name there forever, and My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually. (1 Kings chapter 9)

Thomas   (06.08.08)
Mohammed died in 632 AD. The Ummayads built the two mosques roughly 50 years after his death. There was no "night journey" to Jerusalem. The farthest mosque was somewhere in Arabia.End of argument.

((About your first comment, you are being presumptious in claiming Jerusalem was the sight of the mosque mentioned. ""Whose precincts We did bless" - How do you know? That's just Muslim propaghanda)) Muslim propaganda? Mr. Thomas, I must say that people like you have very closed minds and are hard to reason with. The far mosque (masjid al-aqsa) has always referred to the one in Jerusalem. ((History shows Mohammed ordered his followers to turn their backs on Jerusalem, when he failed to be accepted by Jews and Christians and nturn towards his family's pagan alter in Mecca.)) Another myth. The Muslims living between Jerusalem and Mecca (a very small population) fit the category "backs toward Jerusalem." The qibla (Muslim praying direction) changed after the prophet (peace upon him) made his trip to al-aqsa during which he was commanded to change it. Second, the "family pagan alter" you mentioned was built by Abraham and his son. In fact, the bible states that early Israelites faced south when they prayed (Exodus 27:9); therefore the Ka'aba in Mecca, which is south of Jerusalem, was the original qibla of Israelite communities. Odd that you call it a pagan alter... ((In fact, there's proof that Islamic jurists, after Mohammed died, added to the Koran because it was incomprehensible. See for example the Yemeni transcripts.)) Wrong. The Koran, unlike the Bible and Torah, was never amended after Muhammed (peace upon him)'s death (even when fools like Mr. Wilders demand that we do so). ((Furthermore, we know Jerusalem is mentioned in Christian texts. This professor is not denying Christianity's connection to Jerusalem so I fail to see how that helps your argument.)) Really? I thought he said, "Jerusalem is solely a Jewish city and no one else has any connection to it." Yeah, I think he was denying their connection to the city as well... Why do I write this, you ask? Like I said, if all its mentions in the Tanach is supposed to overshadow its importance to not only Muslims but to Christians as well, then a very bogus assumption is being made. Ma'asalama.

Sorry but if history shows that the two mosques were not built until after Mohammed's death then logic decress that Jerusalem is not the site that passage refers to. Furthermore, Mohammed did order his followers to change the direction of their prayer towards Mecca, following his rejecttion by Jews and Christians. This is why Islam never had a Sabbath like Jews and Christians, because the Arab traders would have rejected him for telling them they couldn't make money one day a week. As for Ibrahim building the Kaaba, that's just a story Muslims like to tell themselves. History has proven that that site was a pagan altar. That Mohammed's family were the caretakers of that shrine is something I learned in an Islamic Civ. course. My professor had a doctorate in Islamic Studies, do you? There's no proof that the Torah or Bible were ever revised. That' s something the Muslims invented to explain why their book is a bad imitation of the original. As for Christianity's relationship to Jerusalem. Jesus was a rabbi and his disciples were all Jewish. So there's nothing wrong with calling Jerusalem a Jewish city while respecting the importance the city has to Christians today.

Where the Mormons found artifacts with the with word Zion clearly written on it in Red Indian Language. You can Just claim the land as translated version of Zion. Those pagans baptized Holocaust victims to save their souls from the slavary of Zionism.
81. Jerusalem
bar ,   Israel   (06.09.08)
Why did the palestinians not claim Jerusalem as their capital during the illegal Jordanian occupation from 1948 to 1967 ? Why did saudi Arabias king , a good Muslim , not visit this "holy" place for him during the same period ? Those two facts alone prove that their claims are unfounded .
