1. "settlers" assault shepherds
Sharona ,   Jerusalem Israel   (06.08.08)
Oh sure, "settlers" are guilty until proven innocent. This was probably a family feud. What BS, there is no proof of any sort that the attack was carried out by settlers. YNET left-wing garbage.
2. Something smells fishy here

3. always deny what you don't want to admit
charicleia   (06.09.08)
I am continually shocked (and dismayed) by so many responses, now and at other times, that deny the criminal misbehavior of the settlers, esp in the area of Hebron. It's all left-wing propaganda according to these folks, who will defend the indefensible, no matter what. Can they seriously believe that there is a future with such bigoted and willfully misinformed people?
4. Settlers? Do you mean Jewish Israelis?
LEE ,   NY, USA   (06.09.08)
Tel Aviv residents are also settlers re-settling our land. Please explain.
5. Forgery Alert - #9 - Brig. Gen David , US Army (RET)
Johan Odin ,   Oslo, Norway   (06.09.08)
I'm guessing that the post attributed to Brig. Gen David US Army (RET) is a complete forgery because Brig. Gen James J. David , US Army (RET) wrote in his piece titled The Source of Terrorism http://www.mediamonitors.net/jamesjdavid10.html "A just solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict can only be achieved if U.S. policy is based upon American moral principles and a strict adherence to international law, which run counter to the continued Israeli occupation of Palestinian land and the denial of basic rights of freedom to Palestinians under Israeli military rule." Other excellent must read articles by Brig. Gen James J. David , US Army (RET) is titled: The source of terrorism http://www.mediamonitors.net/jamesjdavid1.html And: A Prescription for Mideast Peace: Get Tough With Israel http://www.mediamonitors.net/jamesjdavid2.html

if they were masked how could they know if they were setlers, based on recent news story's which talk about inter arab wars going on the chevron area in which arab family's are killling each other i would not run to blame the setlers for this

The Hebron settlers and their children are angels, they would never do such a thing! Just look at how peacefully they live with their neighbors: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=QH0o_07BBk0&feature=related

jack ,   richmond, va, us   (06.09.08)
attacks. Israel needs to reign in these people because once they run out of Palestinians to abuse, they will turn on themselves. In fact, settlers from this area are already known for attacking other folks.
12. Why does YNet print unfounded accusations?
Jay3 ,   Israel   (06.08.08)
They continually do this! How about some more professional journalism instead of using biased leftie reporters like Efrat Weiss or Ali Waked, that always are sure to give a slanted view by only reporting from bogus Palastinian witnesses!
13. are the attackers religious or not?
observer   (06.09.08)
no-one can tell, because they were hiding kippas under the hoods.
14. Hebronites
Abdel Karim Salim ,   Jerusalem - ISRAEL   (06.09.08)
The piece of news says that four Hebronite shepherds were attacked by " hooded settlers " ... Certainly Jewish settlers could attack Hebronites any time any place and in broad daylight without having to mask their faces. The late Baruch Goldstein did so when he shot to death some 70 Hebronites in the Tomb of Patriarchs in February 1994. Ironically the people that really figuratively mask themselves are none other than the Hebronites themselves.Hebronites are mighty notorious for being very difficult and hard-headed people who suffer from deeply-inveterate envy and jealousy to the point where they could finish off somebody out of envy and struggle for power.Their inherent problem is that they are still tribal and clanish in theory and practice. I have learned more than once of Hebronite clanish-even fraternal-bloody feuds that led to the death of some family members. In 1997 two well-known but not necessarily well-respected Hebronite clans clashed with each other and ended up using M-16 rifles in a fraternal feud that went on for some four hours in a northern suburb of Jerusalem and which resulted in the death of an adult and wounding of some four others. And two days ago I learnt that a bloody feud was going on between two Hebronite clans, in Hebron itself, which resulted in the death of no less than five members of the two clans... Honestly I have hardly liked Hebronites in my lifetime and the only reason I mix with some of them is because they are widely dispersed in Jerusalem, where I live, and practically often I find no choice but to deal with them for self interest. But who could ignore that it was a Hebronite who sold his home in the old city of Jerusalem to Ariel Sharon in 1986? Was not such act a big act of treason by Palestinian and Arab standards? It most certainly was since Arabs, including Palestinians, are still considered to be in a state of war.No formal and final peace agreement has yet been made between those two sides ,including HAMAS of the Gaza Strip. And from my personal experiences I have found out that a considerable number of Hebronites do indeed like Jews and are only too willing to collaborate with Israelis in politics and business. Well then it is better off for wise people to stay away from Hebronites as much as possible. One can hardly tell whether Hebronites are pro-arab or lovers of Jews. But if Hebronites love Jews they have only themselves to blame when they get killed by some Israelis. Hebronites simply do not deserve sympathy but rather they need more people,Arabs and Jews, to gloat over their misfiortunes...
15. #4 I will explain for you
Chaim ,   TA   (06.09.08)
Tel-Aviv, like all the other territory West of the Green Line, actually belongs to us. Hebron, in case you have not seen a map lately, is not West of the Green Line, and according to international law does not belong to us. It is really that simple, no matter how much you try to make up excuses for our illegal occupation.

18. Spread the "right" news to the "right" time
chanan ,   Israel   (06.09.08)
It's an old story: If a despotic government wishes to create a special situation to "react" it uses the media to pave the road....
19. If they were masked how could they know they were setlers?
Lynn ,   Ramat Gan   (06.09.08)
20. Of course - everything is Israel's fault!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (06.09.08)
And the disgrace is that we have no decent counter-propaganda system. Our politicians from all sides are so busy looking after themselves that they are letting the country go to hell! Now they all want to be Prime Minister but the way they are behaving, delaying votes, allowing Mazoz to drag is feet and allowing Olmert to continue "business as normal" just proves how schooled they are in the in the art of self-preservation! Israel's worst enemies are our politicians!
21. Proof? Where's the other side of the story?
S   (06.09.08)
Common sense tells you that masked men are usually Palestinians themselves. Hamas and the likes put on their masks extremely often when "exposing" themselves to verbal or physical violence. Perhaps these shepherds didn't want to tell the press that they were actually beaten up because they made a deal with Jews. You know,.. that might get you killed as a Palestinian. Ynet, next time: do your research better. This one-sided story (i am sorry, baseless accusation) tells us nothing.
22. @15 that Green Line
Suzanne   (06.09.08)
is just some border set there as part of a peace negotiation between the Pals and the Isra's. No more, no less. It's not a border at all. Unlike the border presented in 1948, which the Israelis accepted gladly, but the Palestinians refused. And while the Arabs attacked, they lost the battle against the Israelis. Usually when you lose in a war you have to accept new boundaries. Problem is only that Arabs do not accept these. And are even calling on a complete destruction of a country which has its roots there for sure more than 2000 years (based on archeological findings of Jewish artifacts and ruins - not only in current Israel but also on the Westbank). Just listen to Hamas when it says it will "recapture your precious Tel Aviv".
23. #21 not because they made a deal with Jews
observer   (06.09.08)
they were undercover Shin Bet. The Palestinians can't prove they were settlers because the kippas were hidden under the hoods, and the recorded video was in English not in Hebrew.
24. What God wants... Got gets!!!
Chocko ,   NY, USA   (06.09.08)
God help us all. Yeah of course, this is all made up, of course the injuries are self inflicted, and of course you got planning permission in the Bible.... And of course, only the bogeyman Palestinians wear Masks.... There is no one as blind, as those who refuse to see.

26. # 15 The Green Line is an Armistice Line
Thomas   (06.09.08)
The final borders according to holy international law is to be negotiated. For the Europeans to declare the green line as a final border is to override international law. Furthermore, UNSC 242 also says that all states in the region are entitled to live in peace with secure borders. Have the Arabs abided by this? No. It's hard to take international law seriously when it is arbitrarily upheld.
27. # 25 Yet Another Bigoted Arab

Any accusation by an Arab is proof enough?
28. Find another place...
Michael ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (06.09.08)
Where an accusation has the power of a conviction. I hold no brief for "settlers", and think that the Hebron settlers should be removed, but this incident sounds more like a grazing rights dispute than anything else. When did we start accepting unsupported and unverified Palestinian claims? Conduct a real investigation and find the guilty parties, then try them.
29. NO JEW WOULD ATTACK IN THIS WAY-IT WOULD RUIN THE BALANCE
David ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.09.08)
that exists right now with the arabs. The fact that they were masked automatically determines that they were arabs as some(arabs at that)have mentioned. Anyone that says it was a Jew of the area, in the area, is totally ignorant about how things work and or is a base liar.
