First change the party system to 2 party system, term limit 4yrs. Direct elections! Intergrate the smaller parties into the 2 bigger parties and elect representatives for each area of Israel,representing the religious,arab,and other populations as well. Having a PM for a maximum number of years is a good idea but ordinary politicians should not be pushed aside after 8 years. We should be trying to bring new blood into the Knesset but not giving university students special rights or new blood at the expense of the experienced older men & women who have contributed to politcs. We instead need a system where politicians are directly ellected localy thats democracy & if the public dont think that the people that they ellected are not representing their interests then they will vote them out. Right now we have a list we dont ellect MKS we give parties a certain number of seats and the party leadership chooses who is going to fill them If yout a yes man your higher up on the list and more likley to be given a seat in the Knesset but if your willing to question your party leader then your chances of serving are not as high. We also need to get rid of this stupid coalition system because this creates unstable government and it damages democracy. If your trying to put together a coalition and the other party says we will join only if you abandon plans for certain policies you promised to carry out during the campaigning. We also need a constiution so politicians cant simply interprit the law in their own way we need a document that says what they can or cannot do. Peres is at least though saying somethng posative for once rather than telling us how wonderfull the land for terror process is going.

A "4 Bean" proposal! Exactly my feelings! I would go one step further - prohibit government personnel and their families from conducting any form of commercial business while serving in any government position. And last but not least, there should be a waiting period of at least 2-3 years before a government employee should be eligible to bid on any government contract for a 2-3 year period after leaving government employment.
