1. Why invite Olmert? By July 13 - he might be gone.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (06.11.08)
While Sarkozy is much preferable to Chirac, he is still France being France. A third-rate power pretending to influence world politics. Stick to selling cheese & wine it's your true vocation & leave world politics to the big boys.
2. We should not give up the Golan.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (06.11.08)
The Golan Heights will turn into the radical spearhead against Israel. No matter what Syrian Dictator Bashar Assad promises, he is likely to be toppled by radical Moslem forces - leaving northern Israel vulnerable to the terrorists on the plateau above. Assad’s minority Alawite regime will be toppled, for the peace deal will in fact serve to precipitate his downfall and for that reason, Bashar won’t be pursuing real peace with Israel. His regime has no legitimacy in Syria as it is, particularly when it comes to the Muslim Brothers, whose power keeps growing.
3. PA police and tsahal on the CHAMPS ELYSEES !
stephane ,   france   (06.11.08)
i have read on the web that sarkozy invited both tsahal and... the palestinians " policemen " to walk on the champs elysees on the 14 of july for the french national festivities ! and guess who will be one of the guests of sarko ? hafez el assad...this is so stupid ! i hope that tsahal wont agree to walk on the champs elysees with those terrorists...
4. #1 and peace feelers
English person ,   London   (06.11.08)
Very typical of postings by #1 - even the prospect of peace with the northern neighbour fills him with apprehension because of his genetic and systemic abhorrence of "Arabs". It seems, judging by your constant stream of postings - that the only day when you sit down smug and satisfied is when you read of hundreds, or thousands, or dead Arabs smashed by more Israeli bombs. The Lebanon war must have been a glorious time - what with all those two million cluster bombs maiming and killing innocent Lebanese civilians. Apart from total annihilation of all your neighbours, why don't you tell the world how you see a peaceful Middle East? Although, personally, I doubt that the word "peaceful" is part of your vocabulary. It's much easier to be a little armchair Mussolini and spout contempt for world leaders - who, naturally, in your dictionary, are all genetically anti-Semitic. In truth, the Israeli right wing, the blatant ignorant side of Israeli politics, make me feel sick - for you fail to see that communicating with the world at large, being part of the world, is part of being a human being. There is no way that every leader in the world is going to spout the disgusting rhetoric of Ariel Sharon and subjugate their own nation's itnerests to that of the state of Israel - and it time, after sixy years when the Israeli government has killed, murdered, bombed and stolen... to sit down with Mr Assad and see how the world can be a better place... if only your psychotic racist xenophobia can be overcome.
5. AND CANADA'S PM HARPER CANCELS VISIT DUE TO OLMERT...
stude ham   (06.11.08)
very srange this scenario... very strange indeed... even more peculiar... this composite foto of olmert and assad... as if these two would ever be seen together publicly.... and if they were actually seen together in public it would justify our worst fears about olmert.
6. #4 So what do you suggest?
Jay3 ,   Israel   (06.11.08)
You expect Israel to give up territory, sit back and be destroyed like what the PA Charter clearly instructs them to do? Go to hell you moron! Obviously Terry hit a nerve! What Terry wrote makes 100% common sense, something you islamo facists know nothing about. Assads only interest is in helping the Palastinians destroy Israel to try and make his regime stronger, yet you seem to be in denial for thinking otherwise. Putting it simply, there is no peace partners to do any deals with so quit the charade that Syria/Palastinians want peace! They only want us dead, nothing else!
7. the 2 dictaitors go to France to destroy israel
zionist forever   (06.11.08)
We have a dictaitor in Israel who sees the country as his private property and what the public want is irelivent. He is willing to sign on the dotted line as soon as possible and Assad can see what a pathetic weak fool he is. Assad has used this to start the wheels rolling if he cant get what he wants out of Olmert before he is forced to quit well in November he is going to have a new US president most likley to be Obama who will probably invite Assad to the White House rather than shun him. As Assad and Olmert started the ball rolling Obama will steam roll it through the rest of the way and within a year Assad will be the prooud owner of the Golan and now we have the Europeans getting on the band waggon. They all love Olmert he is the new Rabin. If we want the Golan then we need to first get rid of Olmert before he does iriversible damage. Its easy for an oposition party to say they wont recognise any agreements Olmert makes thats more talk than action .. but when you win the ellection accepting whats done is done is one less hassle for this new government to worry about all they have to do is condem Olmert for putting us into this position. The next American president wont let any new Israeli government back out of it because as far as America is concerened it doesnt matter how bad a deal is for Israel or if the promises are not kept America has done whats expected from it and got the deal done on paper its given Syria the Golan what happens to Israel thats not their problem. So we must have ellections now not millitary operations in Gaza which will bolster Olmerts support and make early ellections impossible. Once we have got rid of Olmert we need to draft new laws for the Golan meaning that it takes at least a 75% Knesset majority to give up the Golan and if thats achived the final say must be by the Israeli public through a refrendum. As things stand right now in theory if Olmert gets just 51% of Knesset votes he can sell the Golan and any other part of the country. Laws protect us from crooked politicians and American presidents that are willing to sell Israel down river.
8. #6 expectations
English person ,   London   (06.11.08)
I expect people who live in a war zone to be interested in peace, unlike the poster of '1 who only ever expresses joy in war. How the peace comes about is your problem - your government stole, murdered, assassinated, expelled for 60 years - and it hasn't brought peace - so it's up to you, ya habibi to work out how to deal with your neighbours. Obviously thesolution is not one offered by Terry or yourself - as the attitude which you both express towards your neighbours is one of condescension, contempt and sneering racism. Thanks for telling me to "go to hell" - in fact I have been to Israel many, many times in my life, and I have no wish to settle in hell. Islamo fascists? What a lovely expression. Is that something like Ziono-fascists? If you would care to read the postings on YNET site - it would be pretty clear to you why your neighbours have found it difficult to make peace with the Israeli state. From time to time there appears to be someone worth talking to - but most of the time, hot heads, bigots and racists run the state and they are much more interested in killing more Palestinians than in talking peace - much less painful.
9. WHY ARE THE ISRAELI PUBLIC NOT TAKING TO THE STREETS
zionist forever   (06.11.08)
We need to be out there in the streets DEMANDING that we have early ellections and that no crooked politician sells the Golan. The politicians are not going to withdraw from the coalition Olmerts paying them off to keep their support no matter what he does. So if our politicians wont act then the only people who can do anything are the people themselves if we care about our country then lets take to the streets rather than just say I dont like Olmert, I want to keep the Golan just complaining a little wont stop Olmert but demonstrations will give a wake up call to the likes of Shas & Labour that they do what the people want or pay the price at the next ellection. If peiople dont speak out then we cant complain once Olmerts done the deals. When Barak tried to sign over the Golan to Assad senior you go down the street and you would see poster, cars had bumper stickers calling for the Golan to be saved this time round there seems to be very little protest.
10. # 6 You Had to Ask
(06.11.08)
Do you really care what a Brit thinks? Stealing, murdering, and racism is as British as bad humor and krumpets. "They only want us dead, nothing else! " So do the Brits.
11. Terry's Apprehension towards Peace is Genetic
(06.11.08)
says the "non-racist" Englishman. LOL. The Brits just can't help themselves.
12. Mediterranean Union
Cheryl ,   USA   (06.11.08)
That is what's going on. This includes other countries... North African nations, Iraq, Syria, Turkey, Israel, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, etc. Which somewhat resembles the old Roman Empire.
13. 'English Person'
(06.11.08)
Our country is well on the road to becoming the first Islamic nation in Europe. When that happens you'll realise the restrain that Israel show towards the people of Islam. You base your opinions on revisionist history which is fast becoming regarded as the tactic of hippy losers. You won't survive what is coming unless you wake up.
14. sarkozy
sas ,   israel   (06.11.08)
why ohlmert?????? he is GOOD FOR NOTHING. He is DISHONEST a CROOK a LIAR and he needs to go home not to Paris.
15. Re: The English Person
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (06.11.08)
Guys, let him rant & rave - I'm not sensitive to criticism. I can defend my positions with facts, logic, & rational analysis even if sometimes it sounds like I'm being glib. Most of our European friends don't like to see anyone, especially us, defend ourselves with no apology. That's because they gave up defending themselves quite a while ago. They prefer to go quietly into the night without a whimper of protest. They are "post-nationalists" who no longer feel their history, their heritage, their culture, their values, are worth defending. Their only "value" today is self-righteousness & appeasement, the result of their multi-culturalist moral relativism. I can't just criticise Europe of course - we have our own "post-Zionists" to contend with. Of course, I generalize, for I am sure that there is quite an under-current opposed to surrender & it's still possible to reverse the current trends. In the meantime, I can tell you that those unwilling to fight for their rights will soon lose those rights. Totalitarian ideologies, especially those religiously tinged, will always have an attraction & will always have the "useful idiots" who defend them.
16. YNET SOB
haim ,   mtl canada   (06.11.08)
they give a voice to this bast english person a voice but block mine because i am for ISRAEL NO MATTER WHT good reason for me not to change amen
17. #8 Sarcastic and Condescending
Cynthia ,   USA   (06.12.08)
You're quite adept at name calling and condemnation of Israel. If you ever really got to know the Israelis, you would realize how much they want peace. Instead, I suspect your trips to Israel have allowed you simply a detour to the Palestinians. Please don't habibi anyone because you are no friend. By the way, Terry does circles around you in regard to first hand knowledge of issues related to Israel and her neighbors. How is your boycott of Israel going? The venom expressed in your writings is a match to a boycott mentality.
18. #17
English person ,   London   (06.12.08)
If you read my posts, you'd note I've been to Israel about 100 times, and speak the language fluently - as well as speaking Arabic fluently. Now - you say "you would realize how much the Israelis want peace". Well habibti - have you read the talkbacks on this site? The constant calls for death, for murderous incursions, to turn Syrian into a "parking lot", to "nuke" Iran? I would say that on a general reading of the commentson this site, one would have to condemn the ISraeli right wing as nothing short of Genghis Khan-like in the ferocity of its desire to murder non-Jews in the Middle East. The person you referred to has a psychotic hatred of Arabs due to some incidents in his childhood. According to his own comments (he doesn't speak much Hebrew), my Hebrew is then much better than his, I have a fairer understanding of what people say on both sides of the divide. As for your comment that my trips to Israel "have allowed you simply a detour to the Palestinians"... I don't really understand, or don't care to understand, what snide little racist overtones your words have. I suggest you stay in trailerville USA and butt out of my discussions. wa shukran ilik.
19. #18 Eyes Wide Shut
Cynthia ,   USA   (06.12.08)
You may have traveled to Israel but you've never touched the heart and soul of the people of Israel. Instead, you come to this site with your bias and judgmental stereotypes. You are ready to condemn and label Israelis because of comments by posters on this site. That seems quite shallow to say the least. And you expect Israelis to hug their neighbors after their Arab neighbors attack and terrorize them? Get real Habibi. Not only are you narrow minded but you're also a big snob. You'd be lucky to afford a home in my "trailerville" yet people who live in trailer homes do so because that is what they can afford. I don't think you liked my comment about your involvement in the academic boycott of Israel but I see you did not deny being involved. Talk about racism. That boycott effort is over the edge and totally illegal. Wouldn't you agree, Habibi?
