1. Bastard is smooth, I give him that.
John ,   Europe   (06.13.08)
He gives the image of western-forged politician, opened for all options. And then pushes Israel to enter negotiations with gifts, but refuses to give any in return. The worst part is that most people will buy it.
2. Don't give it back and don't trust the liars.
Nick ,   London   (06.13.08)
Sure it will be another front to fight but do you really believe that Syria will be neutral when there is a war with Iran? Do you really want to bring the Northern front closer to Tel Aviv? Friendship with Syria is worthless.
3. Jewish blood and land are cheap w/ Olmert as your leader.
LEE ,   NY, USA   (06.13.08)
4. And what does Israel get?
Adam Eliyahu Berkowi   (06.13.08)
No preconditions for Syria but LOTS of preconditions for Israel. Olmert better hurry up and close this deal before the envelope of cash goes to someone else. This is my problem with the left wing. They are stupid, mentally deficient. How else do you explain these deals.
5. Finally he admit
DR D ,   Jerusalem   (06.13.08)
Syria is supporting Hisballah. The attack on Israel that started the Second Lebanese War, and in his mind Israel lost, is the real motivation that is pushing Israel to beg for peace. The Dentist President will have to wait long time before swimming in the Buhairet Tabariyya (Kinneret ). Beside, the best for him will be to blow up Nasrallah, forget about the Golan, make full peace with Israel and finance the secure pipelines that will cheaply run oil from Iraq in to the Mediterranean, Big Money Mr President !!! We will buy from you more gas that you will be able to refine .
6. The stooge talks tough!
Ram ,   London   (06.13.08)
7. I think we should discuss something of greater importance.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (06.13.08)
The rantings of an enemy dictator of a failed state which is practically an Iranian colony is of little interest. No Israeli gov't. will cede the Golan. It may get all the loonie-leftists salivating at the prospect of yet another concession, but it ain't gonna happen. The whole thing is just a political gimmick by our failed trio of incompetents, Olmert/Livni/Barak - not that they would hesitate to harm the country for self-interest, but because they simply can't do it. So, let's talk about something of far more importance than Syria's dictator. Summer is almost upon us & I am looking for a good recipe for barbeque sauce. If anyone has a good recipe, it would be appreciated.
8. Terry
Keren ,   Israel-SP   (06.13.08)
The best is only raw salt over the meat and a very good and very fresh salad, with fine olive oil and lemon, as side plate. Some backed potatoes are a good idea too and/or fresh and delicious bread, preferaly home made by caring women. Simple things are the easiest and the finest when done with care and love and with good materials, and that's a good recipe not only for food. If politics were done this way ,the qualitative result would be certainly other than the current,do you agree?
9. Pick up from where Rabin Left off
Righteous Zionist ,   Israel   (06.13.08)
meaning 'continue to sell the country down the river as Rabin was doing before he was assassinated.'
10. What's not to believe?
Arie ,   BaGolan   (06.13.08)
olmert and barak have already surrendered the Negev and Asqelon to hamas. Why the surprise that they would cede the Golan and the Galilee to Assad? All that's left is Jerusalem, TA, and Haifa to the PA and the job is done
11. The revolt cometh
Arie ,   BaGolan   (06.13.08)
If barak and olmert belive the fantasy that we will move from the Golan, or that any Israeli (except for the TA leftists, the barak/olmert/livni gang, and meretz) would accept such a suicidal move, they are have lost whatever sense of reality is left. Tzahal soldiers will NOT remove us and we are prepared to fight to the blood to keep Israel intact
12. Baruh H. Israelis more clever than politicians !
trumpeldor ,   eurabia   (06.13.08)
All polls show a deepening refusal to any "concession"on Golan !
13. assad
(06.13.08)
let me just give you fair warning here, in case you don't understand.... no israeli government will ever cede the golan to you. never. and if todays incopetent olmert does this, he has to go through a lot of political referendums to do so. no israeli government will support this give away. even if they do, the present government will not be around in 6 months' time and the new government, the one you won't like very much because they see through your bs, will never ever accept cedings of israeli lands of prior governments. never. you have been warned about this. the next government will never acknowledge what the last one did simply because it was 100% incompetent and corrupt. so, you can wait another 60 years to destroy israel in which case you and your puppet dictator regime will dissapear, or you can suffer a huge loss of your military and status and viability of your horrenduous regime by israeli retaliation should you be stupid enough to atack israel, or you can be qa good boy and make peace for peace. these are the onlyt options available to you now and forever.
14. The price of peace
Shlomo the Homo ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (06.13.08)
It is always a price to pay for peace. I think the Golan must go if that it what it takes. It was not our to start with.
15. He's probably lying about Rabin, but no matter..
Ilan ,   Ariel   (06.13.08)
I find it hard to believe that Rabin would agree to a withdrawal to the banks of the Kinneret to outskirts of where Tiberias goes today, but even then Israel is a democracy and He would have needed approval from the Knesset. Little dictator Jr. probably never exchanged even a word with Rabin and only has the words of the slugs who served the old man.
16. #8 Kerry
Jay ,   Israel   (06.13.08)
If you ever invite me to dinner i am bringing my own gravy and Ketchup.
17. Memo to Syria: You had your chance
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (06.13.08)
Like Arafat in 2000, you had your chance to do a deal, but what you demanded was more than Israel would offer. And, as far as Israel is concerned, it's fortunate you (and Arafat) walked away. Israel would have been beyond derelict had they done such deals. But things change, and Israel now knows better. The standard formulation is "Nothing is agreed unless everything is agreed." Arabs love to "pocket" potential Israeli concessions to another day with each new round of negotiations . The real world doesn't work that way.
18. Bashar's Holding Out for a Chin Implant
(06.13.08)
he's just too embarrassed to say it.
19. #8 Keren - Israel SP Thanks.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (06.13.08)
Usually I would agree with you - the simplest methods are often the best if you use the best quality ingrediants. But for barbeques, I like meat a little sweet & a bit burnt. I might have a barbeque to celebrate when Olmert is deposed - actually, I'd like to see him barbequed but that's too much to hope for.
20. Bashar was abandoned as a baby
Herb ,   canada   (06.13.08)
And was raised by giraffs.
21. OK ,Jay and Terry!Let's all celebrate!
Keren ,   Israel-SP   (06.13.08)
And let's celebrate with a wide range of tastes:sweet, pepered, with ketchup, everything, and let's see olmer...barbequed in the sun of an island far from us ,somewhere where he must hunt for living and where he will not have even a Jane to speak,in order to pay for his sins!
22. # 14
(06.13.08)
This is the problem with homosexual voters. Because you cannot breed it is not part of your psychological makeup to consider the consequences for future generations.
23. You´re wrong Assad.
Uzziel   (06.13.08)
Israel gave such assurances not to you, but to your brother in law, Assef Shawkat. Reinstate him in his post and we´ll talk about peace. You see baby Assad, everybody can play the game of heinous lies.
24. Giving away the Golan can only lead to a catastrophe!
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (06.13.08)
The Golan Heights will turn into the radical spearhead against Israel, and not only from Syria: People will be coming from Iran, Afghanistan and elsewhere. Terrorism will be two-pronged both from the Golan and from Lebanon. Life in the Galilee region and northern Israel will turn into an unbearable nightmare, worse than it was before 1967. About a million Syrian residents will be settled in the Golan immediately - The situation will be irreversible... Nowadays, the Golan is the safest region of Israel as explained at : http://xrl.us/bk9g2
25. Don't give the Golan
Casiopea ,   Spain   (06.13.08)
You will be attacked from there. Will Syria cease to support Hezbollah?
26. Yes, close the deal with Rabin
Deal Maker ,   NYS USA   (06.13.08)
Since Rabin made the offer, Assad should go to Rabin's grave and close the deal. If Rabin says yes, then we should honor it.
27. No. 18
(06.13.08)
Maybe while they're giving him the implant they can drain some of the water out of his head. Frankly, I always thought he was a hydrocephalic.
28. The Arabs like to gamble and when they
Zooog ,   US   (06.14.08)
lose. They want their money back. Israel needs as much of a buffer as it can get. Until the Arab countries become Denmark, Belgium and Norway, keep the Golan.
29. Israel OWNS ALL of the Golan, screw syria.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Santa Monica,CA USA   (06.13.08)
30. The problem isn't only Olmert
Joe Kaufman ,   Formerly Jerusalem   (06.13.08)
I shall never forget the disgust I felt when Barak, while still in uniform, made declarations on Israeli television on how Assad could be trusted to fulfill his end of a bargain. This from a Military man who had not taken off his uniform. It was improper for him to make such political declarations at the time. Now, after being thrown out of office without outrageous give aways to Arafat that never happened, we see him back to bolster his crooked friend, Olmert, in perfidy. Israel is not a democracy. Jerks who hold party positions ignore the populace and continue to make bad decisions that undermine the future of the jewish state. There is no one to put on check on their power. They have no constituency. When the rest of the world figures this out, Israel will be recognized as lying about it being the only democratic state in the mideast. It is time for Israeli's to rise up in revolt, and tear these idiots from their seats in the Knesset., and force democracy on the government. I understand the fatigue and indifference Israeli's feel in the face of such moronic behavior on the part of politicians. I think the Arabs on counting on Jews to leave when they recognize that they have no hope with such fools as leaders. Woe is Israel with such disastrous leadership. I'm glad I could escape, painful as it was.
