1. Note the minister's names and never vote for one of them ..
redmiike ,   Tel Aviv, London, LA   (06.17.08)
Don't have a short memory. Anyone that voted for this ceasefire should be blacklisted as should any Olmert supporter. Don't vote for anything to which they are attached ever again. Mike
2. It will be nice for the Sderot ...
Juan ,   Spain   (06.17.08)
... and Ashkelon residents to have no rockets and mortars. But I am sorry, I am VERY sceptical.
3. #1: What about these that abstained?
Steve ,   Fla.   (06.17.08)
"Ramon abstained in the cabinet vote. Ministers Mofaz, Yishai, and Friedmann abstained." Ramon wants to hand E. Jerusalem over to the jihadists. Seems to me abstaining from such a critical vote is immoral; it is pusillanimous.
4. Gilad Shalit, screwed again!
Ken Besig ,   Israel   (06.17.08)
As usual, the Israelis bought another pig in a poke, and the Israeli who really got screwed was of course, Gilad Shalit.
5. In an ideal world...
Shar ,   USA   (06.17.08)
...the Israeli leadership would take less than a minute to pass a measure to crush Hamas. 1 week of overwhelming force, completely wipe out all trace of Hamas, their leadership, and their infrastructure. Strike terror into the hearts of anyone who ever dreams of forming another hamas-like movement. Everyone knows that Israel has the military, intelligence, logistical, and tactical capability. In a piece of land the size of gaza, one would think it would be trivial. In an ideal world...
6. A gift for our children
ben yaacov ,   il   (06.17.08)
a time bomb. This generation is scared so we pass the problem to those we claim we love and sacrifice for.
7. coincidence?
Sigfried S. Kuhn ,   Aberdeen   (06.17.08)
It is interesting to note that less than 2 weeks ago, Barak and his compatriots were warning of an imminent military excursion into Gaza. Then and all of a sudden their tone changed with the appearance of Condie Rice. Immediately, she criticized Israel for construction activities and shortly after that, the Saudis agreed to increase their oil output in order to reduce the price of oil. Israel, in turn, put off any armed intervention in facvor of a cease-fire that they had formerly rejected as benefitting the terrorists. If I were a paranoid person, I'd be convinced that there was a relationship among these events. Since I'm not paranoid, I guess that I still can be suspicious.
8. Wrong again...
Enzo ,   london,uk   (06.17.08)
This truce is better than YOUR Annapolis, Ramon!
9. For Once, This Government Actually Gets It Right!
David ,   Marietta USA   (06.17.08)
If they want a truce, they must be hurting-or running out of rocket fuel. Hit them now, and hit hard while you can.
10. Ramon: Truce a victory for radical Islam
Jim ,   Jerusalem Israel   (06.17.08)
ramon olmert barak livni mofaz yishai vilnai, are the real victory for radical islam, the motto of this government is kadima surrender.
11. If Ramon had any REAL stones he'd stand up & say"Hell no I'm
not voting in favor ,   of this! Rueben,   (06.17.08)
12. I have alot of respect for Hamas & disgst with olmert
zionist forever   (06.17.08)
Hamas attack us and wear us down. Then our weak politicians who belive surrender is the best policy agree to tempory hudnas allowing Hamas to rapair any damage Israel has done and when the hudna is over they come back stronger than ever and kill our people. We keep falling into the same trap time after time and we are paying a heavy price for it becuse there is no will to fight. Olmert summed it up perfectly when he gave this little speech saying WE ARE TIRED OF FIGHTING WE ARE TIRED OF BEING CORAGEOUS WE ARE TIRED OF WINNING WE ARE TIRED OF DEFEATING OUR ENEMIES If this policy of choosing the easy way out which is surrender to enemy demands then Israel will have been replaced with a palestian state in 60 years time because unless your willing to fight for whats yours you loose it and there is no will to fight anymore just come out with our hands up.
13. Collective Amnesia
joe kaufman ,   jerusalem, israel   (06.18.08)
It seems that the neurotic left leaning government of Israel is suffering from collective amnesia, and hoping that the duped populace, which fantasizes Israel to be a democracy (along the lines of the Democratic Republic of North Korea) will likewise suffer this amnesia. The americans will likely abandon Israel to its confusion and capricious appeasement. I'm glad that I can take advantage of my american heritage to escape the political madness of this place. Perhaps Israeli's actually deserve the government they have, if they refuse to wrench these self serving monsters from their seats in the Knesset. Why didn't anyone vote against the cease fire? Cowards, fools, and objects worthy of a wise man's contempt, the whole lot of them. No wonder no one with any dignity pursues politics in Israel. I'm utterly disgusted and have lost all faith in the political leadership here. Time for the messiah.
