2. WHY IS BUSH HELPING SAUDI ARABIA BUILD NUKES?
We've long known that America's addiction to oil pays
for the spread of extremism.
If this Bush nuclear deal moves forward, Saudi Arabia's
petrodollars could flow to
the dangerous expansion
of nuclear technologies
in the most volatile region of
the world.
While the scorching Saudi Arabian sun heats sand dunes instead
of powering photovoltaic panels,
millions of Americans will fork
over $4 a gallon without realizing that their gas tank is fueling
a nascent nuclear arms race.

3. WHY IRAN WILL GET NUCLEAR WEAPONS
Ahmadinejad has already
promised anti-American
regimes in Latin America
"full support and protection"
against the "Great Satan" -
- Washington.
Iran is laying the foundations
for an armaments industry
in Venezuela, and one day the Islamic Republic may extend its nuclear umbrella to Venezuela,
Nicaragua, Bolivia, Paraguay, Ecuador and,
why not, even Cuba.
The Islamic Republic has been
at war against the U.S. and
the international system it leads
for almost 30 years.
As in all wars there are three
ways to end this one:
surrender, make a deal, or win.

4. #2- As long as Israel has nukes, other must have a deterrent
Johan Odin , |

Arab states are forced to develop nuclear technology to counter the threat that a rogue nuclear armed regime such as Israel poses to their own national security, for to not do so would leave them with no deterrent should Israel choose to threaten them or violate their security as it so often proves it will do.
One must remember also that the only regime in the region that refuses to support a nuclear weapons free ME is Israel, and Israel also refuses to sign the NPT or allow inspections of its own nuclear facilities as well.
Israel should lead by example and sign the NPT, allow inspections of its own clandestine nuclear program and destroy its own existing nuclear arsenal that it hid from the world all these years, but it not it cannot complain if others follow their lead.

Israel's nuclear project was itself a deterrent to prevent a total war scenario with weapons of mass destruction - in case you forgot, Egypt, Syria, and Iraq have had large stockpiles of chemical weapons over the years, which the have had no scruples in using.
Israel was one of the few places which the aforementioned armies *didn't* bomb with chemical weapons when fighting against - Saddam bombed Iranians and Kurds, Egypt bombed Yemenites, and Syria bombed its own Islamist dissidents with chemical weapons - wheareas Israel has never used its nuclear arms, nor has it ever threatened to for any political goal.
So somehow, I doubt that Israel is the great danger to the ME. At least Israel never tried to remove another country entirely from the ME - something that can't be said for the rest of the ME.

1. Israel has never initiated aggression with any of its neighbors, let alone Iran, Iraq, of Saudi Arabia. To date in the just over 60 years since modern Israel was proposed and existed Israel has been threatened or attacked every one of those years and has shown restraint in response. And never has Israel even implied a threat that included Nuclear weapons.
2. Israel is the only country in the world surrounded by people that do not acknowledge its right to exist, in spite of the UN creating Israel and even when the UN claims that Israel fulfilled its obligations to leave Lebanon Israel was attacked because we did not give back land that the UN says belongs to Syria to Lebanon.
So giving up the implied threat and only defense is not a survival option.
And claiming that other countries need bombs to counter the "treat of Israel" is a blatant lie.

9. MAHATHIR MOHAMMED: 1.3 billion Muslims cannot be defeated...
by a few million Jews.
There must be a way. And
we can only find a
way if we stop to think,
to assess our weaknesses
and our strength, to plan,
to strategise and then to counter attack...
We must win their (the western world) hearts and minds.
We must win them to our
side not by begging
for help from them but by
the honourable way that
we struggle to help ourselves.

midlertidig fredsavtale,
slik at Muslimene under en
felles strategi, med tiden
kunne triumfere over den
knøttlille minoriteten på 12 mill. Jøder.
HOWEVER, THE NEW iSLAMIC SWORD, WMD IS TAILORED

13. #10, you have to wonder if these people are simply wind-up
merchants. Can anyone really be that thick?
Israel isn't a signatory of the NPT, so what? North Korea was and it developed nukes, Libya was and it was developing nukes, Iraq was and it was developing nukes. Apparently ditto for Syria. So is the argument that Israel should be condemned because it is not cynical enough to sign a treaty is has not intention of keeping.
Does this moron really think that Iran is building nukes as "defence" against Israel - a country that has not only never attacked it, but armed it during it's life and death struggle with Iraq? Why do all these countries SUDDENLY need nukes when Israel - apparently has had them for 40 years.

15. #8 Eric - Israel attacked Egypt, Iraq for starters
Johan Odin , |
Oslo, Norway |

(06.20.08) |
You probably forgot about Israel attacking Egypt (1967 war) (the Lavon Affair) and bombed a nuclear power plant, it attacked the Osirak reactor in Iraq being built by France for starters. And please state the exact binding UN resolution that created Israel while noting that like the 60+ UN General Assembly Resolutions that Israel ignores today such as those declaring Israel's annexation of Jerusalem null and void, as well as the UN Security council resolutions such as 242 which states calls for Israel's withdrawal from land it occupied in 1967 and reiterates that the acquisition of land by war is illegal under both the UN Charter and international law when considering your response.
And BTW, just Israel's admission that it has nuclear weapons is a threat that cannot be overlooked given Israel's aggressive history that I cited above.

16. # 15 Declaration of Establishment of State of Israel
The right of the Jewish people to national rebirth in its own country
was recognized in the Balfour Declaration of the 2nd November, 1917,
and re-affirmed in the Mandate
of the League of Nations which,
in particular, gave international sanction to the historic connection
between the Jewish people and Eretz-Israel and to the right of
the Jewish people to rebuild its National Home.
UN Resolution 181, defined the outline of a settlement in
Palestine creating both a Jewish and a Palestinian homeland.
The 1947 UN Partition divided
the area into three entities:
a Jewish state, an Arab state,
and an international zone around Jerusalem.
On the 29th November, 1947,
the United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution
calling for the establishment
of a Jewish State in Eretz-Israel;
the General Assembly required
the inhabitants of Eretz-Israel
to take such steps as were necessary on their part for the implementation of that resolution.
THIS RECOGNITION BY THE
UNITED NATIONS OF THE
RIGHT OF THE JEWISH PEOPLE
TO ESTABLISH THEIR STATE IS IRREVOCABLE!
This right is the natural right
of the Jewish people to
be masters of their own fate,
LIKE ALL OTHER NATIONS , IN THEIR OWN SOVERIEGN STATE!
http://www.mfa.gov.il/MFA/Peace+Process/Guide+to+the+Peace+Process/Declaration+of+Establishment+of+State+of+Israel.htm
THE MEANING OF RESOLUTION 242
Israel's acquisition of territory resulted from a defensive war
which is permitted by international law.
Moreover, Israel has already complied with its major
obligation under Resolution 242
by surrendering more than 90%
of the territories it captured
in 1967 (the entire Sinai Peninsula,
the whole of the Gaza Strip, and large portions of Judea and Samaria). And have since made peace with Egypt and Jordan.
