1. and we needed recognition from PLO?

2. deal eith 'devil' hamas
elliot ,   point roberts,wa   (06.19.08)
as with oslo, when you lay down with dogs you get up with fleas...self- inflicted cost in israel's case.
3. When Ones Leaders ARE The Enemy.
Adina Kutnicki   (06.19.08)
I forgot what it is like to read a sane analysis at Ynet's pages. Over and over again, like an idiot sevant gov't, Israel's leaders keep REPEATING the same dangerous non-policies- the acts of appeasement. One needn't look back into history to see why a 'ceasefire' is NOT in Israel's interests. They only need to look back to the 2006 Lebanon disaster, where refusing to aim for victory Olmert capitulated to a 'ceasefire'. Now Hizbullah is ten fold strenghtened from this capitulation, and has overtaken Lebanon! None of this though should be surprising. The world-and even some Israelis-do not know that it was Israel, through Rabin, Peres & their crew who resuscitated Arafat(the mass butcher of Jews) from the graveyard of Tunis. Clearly the Zionists need rescuing more from their leaders than from their enemies. Their enemies they know how to deal with, but their leaders........
4. So where do you want to go?
Chocko ,   NY,USA   (06.19.08)
I was talking to a friend in Israel this afternoon and I asked her did she hear the news about the cease fire. She said she heard something about it but really didnt want to discuss it any further. I asked her why not and evantually she stated "If I listened to the news in this country, it would Piss me off even more than I already am. Please I really dont want to talk about it." It struck me that the rabid rantings, including my own, on these pages are left by people who have more time on their hands than is healthy, Have an agenda to spread propoganda. Are raving loony settlers who want to wipe out another race entirely. i.e. no more palestinians, no more problems. Or have a serious chip on their shoulder about where they come from and where they should be going. You guys are just 'nuts'.... and I sincerely hope, you do not represent the average decent Israeli who wants to get on with living Life, rather than causing misery and pain.
5. TWO EVILS
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (06.19.08)
It is interesting to read this article from a opinion writer of Ynet. But in truth this is a deal between two evil entities, Hamas and the Israeli government, that is why they found common ground. Olmert and his henceman signed a deal with the devil a long time ago, that is why they do not represent the Jewish people in any shape or form.
6. Plocker was one of the disengagement pushers!!
Ben Avraham ,   Tel Aviv   (06.19.08)
And now we have rockets daily and he still blames Israel!
7. What Olmert and Barak think - Talansky, bribes
Mike ,   Haifa   (06.19.08)
It is difficult for us to undestand what they think because it would not change our job, we wouldn't go yo jail, etc. Remember that Olmert thinks day and knight about Talanky testimony, will he spend time in jail; if in jail then how long. The rest for him has only academic interest. Barak thinks about money, big money; jobs for his friends, another big house, etc. The rest has academic interest for him.
8. Israeli selfishness is the Devil
Jerrold Cohen ,   Seal Beach, USA   (06.19.08)
Hamas is not the Devil. it was clearly elected by the Palestinian people as its representatives. The vote of the Palestinian people gave it legitimacy. Nothing that Israel could do to delegitimize Hamas worked. The Devil is Israel's incessant thirst for Palestinian land. Hamas knows that you are trying to crush the Palestinian people to nothing, and it is acting accordingly.
9. Jerrold Cohen #8 thinks Hamas are good fellows
Jake   (06.20.08)
"Nothing that Israel could do to delegitimize Hamas worked. The Devil is Israel's incessant thirst for Palestinian land. " No, actually Jerry, its exactly the opposite. It was Israel's withdrawal from "Palestinian land", the Gaza strip, that legitimized Hamas. And for the record, I supported the disengagement from Gaza 100%. But in the meantime, the disengagement has given myself and the other drunkards intoxicated on Oslo liquor, a moment of clarity. Today, it seems like only Olmert and a tiny clique of like-minded lunatics still suffer from withdrawal symptoms.
10. Stupid way of thinking
(06.20.08)
Sadat when he planed to go to Israel he said ... i shake the hand of the devil if he will bring peace to my people .... this should be the way .
11. Supporters of apartheid dare to sermonise
Chanalau, Tova ,   London, UK   (06.20.08)
Don't talk about recognition of Hamas or of the Palestinians; talk instead about how no government in the world recognises Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, no country in the world recognises its expansionist post 1967 borders and no good Jew will ever forgive the Zionist state for destroying the good name of the Jewish people for all time. Hang your head in shame Mr Plocker instead of preaching your racist dogma.
12. obviously you dont live in the negev sir
danny ,   israel   (06.19.08)
keep doing what your doing and you get the same results. im interested to see what happens with this ceasefire. If israel doesnt accept the truce then it looks like we are the war mongers. I don't know whether it will last but israel is using a golden opportunity to give Sderot some peace of mind and get back gilad Shalit. Swallow your foolish pride and accept reality. Hamas does have the power amongst palestinians. If we werent in the west bank they certainly have the power to take that too
13. Olmert has made Israel a stink
Keith Udall ,   St Louis, USA   (06.20.08)
Negotiating with the PLO is always wrong, it was wrong with "Fatah", and by now extending it to "Hamas", Clown Olmert has shat on friends such as the USA. Good people of Israel must eliminate these clowns immediately, or the consequences will be terrible.
14. #11, Jerusalem is the capital of Israel
Jake   (06.20.08)
All governments and all countries know that, and you know it too. Whether some choose not to officially recognize it out of fear or political expediency is another matter. But Jerusalem is and always will be the eternal indivisible capital of Israel, regardless of whether country X or country Y chooses to move their embassies there (and don't worry, they will).
15. #8, what history you been reading?
Danny   (06.20.08)
Israel pulled out from Gaza nearly 3 years ago. We pulled out of Lebanon 8 years ago. How long can you keep using the "it's the occupation" excuse? I wish we were trying to "crush the Palestinian people to nothing", I would fully support it but we aren't.
16. Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (06.20.08)
"We don't negotiate with terrorists" was the mantra years ago. Even under extraordinary circumstances, as with the Entebbe hostages, negotiations were used to buy time to strike a blow against the enemy. In those days, Israel was feared and respected. In the early 1990s, the PLO was a spent force, its leaders in exile, making noise and counting their money. Oslo brought them back to life, granting them guns, money, and legitimacy. Ever since, Israel evinces self-loathing, weakness and indecision. And rarely more than the present. Israel sucks up to Syria, Hizbullah and Hamas begging for a deal - any deal. I used to say the conflict continued because the Jews were never allowed to win, and the Arabs were never allowed to lose. That's no longer the case. Israel may be, in Olmert's famous words, "tired of winning" - something no proud nation would ever say. But Israel's enemies most assuredly are not.
17. British Citizens Shouldn't Open Their Mouths
Thomas   (06.20.08)
You, the British started apartheid in South Africa to prevent the indiginous from benefitting from their own land's natural resources - gold and diamonds. Any act of rebellion against foreign sovereignty of their own land was met with scorched earth brutality and murder within concentration camps. Israelis, on the other hand bought land with no inherent value from local landowners. The British never allowed the black population to participate in the administration of their own property. Arabs in Israel have full voting rights. How much of the British economy today can be traced to the theft of other country's natural resources via organized violence? By some estimates you've stolen the equivalent of 11 trillion from India alone. It goes without saying that if ther British people wish to preach morality they should only do it from the perspective of being reformed criminals and not innocent saints.
18. Yes, we shold talk to Hamas!
Adam Keller ,   Holon   (06.20.08)
Hamas represents a large part of the Palestinian people. Hamas won democratic elections. If you want to ever have a peace with the Palestinians there is no way to do it without talking to Hamas. And pealese stop talking about Hitler, Hitler is dead and there is no second Hitler. Hamas is not Hitler, Hamas is our partner for peace!
19. Yo! Danny! I do live here!
Yehuda ,   Holit, Israel   (06.21.08)
I think this "lull" is a sham and the price we are paying for a few quiet nights is too high. During the second Lebenon War the shear courage of the people in the north was amazing, they repeatedly stated that they could endure if the IDF pressed on and cleaned house in south lebanon. Instead we had a prime minister looking to the UN and US for approuval of any action he took and played YO-YO with our troops. He is doing the same with us in the south. This cease fire is Bull SH*T. All it is doing is lengthening our suffering just to cover that bastards ass. For my family and myself I am willing to fight. But our government is selling our country out piece by piece. You want real quiet. Fight for it bud.
20. Total Chaos!
Fradi Zeeb ,   NY, US and A   (06.22.08)
First off, what is this Palestinian crap? They are supposed to be Arabs, not romans or greeks. Israel, birth place of monotheism and all the enemies are anyone who believes in G-d too much. It's the west and they want to kill both of you. Americans, your buddies, dispise Jews 10000 times more than Iran. What ever goes wrong in the west is the Jews fault. And you buy their crappy planes because the nazis fear a united Middle East. And that's the only reason they tollersyte you.
21. #12, who cares?
Danny   (06.22.08)
You think for 30 seconds the "legitimacy" argument will hold up? In Lebanon War 2, we had pulled out to the mm, there was no fighting in the immediate run up and the attack was on indisputably sovereign Israeli soil and still somehow it became a "disproportionate attack" on Lebanon. The only true peace will come when our enemies realise they cannot wipe us out.
22. "Chanalau", HEAD RASCIST STRIKES AGAIN!!
AVRUM ,   CANADA   (06.25.08)
