1. Jews and Arabs
RT ,   Jerusalem   (06.23.08)
I believe that Jewish kids should learn Arabic in order to know the language of the enemy!
2. I bet this poll is a fraud.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (06.23.08)
The likliehood of this poll accurately reflecting either Israeli public opinion or Israeli Arab public opinion is virtually nil. This is a propaganda piece deliberately engineered to arrive at PC results. While I don't doubt that most Israeli Arabs prefer living in Israel as opposed to "Palestine" at the same time, they hold a contradictory position against a Jewish State. The results of this poll are contradicted by every other poll I've seen as well as the vast majority of articles on the subject.
3. 77% of Arabs do not want to be under Arab rule.
Miriam ,   Israel   (06.23.08)
They want Israel with Jewish leadership. They know quite well that Arab leadership is dangerous and cruel.
4. Israeli Arabs should create a new political reality
Millie ,   Israel   (06.23.08)
If 77% of Israeli Arabs prefer to live here, they should get rid of the traitorous 5th column Arab parties and their MKs, who do not serve Israeli Arab interests, but only act to foment unrest and non-allegiance to the state they are supposed to serve. It's time to kick Barrakeh, Tibi, a-Sana and the rest of the traitorous pack out. They should also seek to stop the pernicious Islamist element that is eating away at the moral fabric that binds their society. Raed Salah belongs behind bars. Israeli Arabs should create new parties that really represent their interests. This would build great bridges between the Arab and Jewish communities and help bring them the support they need.
5. Arab Members of Parliament=traitors of their electorate!
The Doc ,   Haifa, Israel   (06.23.08)
...inspired by the most ruthless Muslim dictatorships like Iran and Syria and by Terrorist Organizations like Hezbollah and Hamas, they are doing the utmost DISSERVICE to their voters by preventing their integration in the Israeli society, inciting to genocide (destruction of the State of Israel), plotting with the enemy and committing treason - just like it has been proven by the ex-MP, now a fugitive traitor living with the Hezbollah - Azmi B'shara. I hope that the Israeli Arab population sees beyond the murderous lies spread by the Arab MPs, by the Muslim Fanatics like Raed Salah and his religious goons, by Islamo-Leftists and Anarchists and by the Arab national and international propaganda and dissinformation who only make sure that the Israeli Arab population continues to live as a separate entity, susceptible to the influence of their own enemies while serving as a hotbed for terror and treason. I hope that during the next elections, the Israeli Arabs know who to vote for if they want so much to live in a democratic and peaceful country and to become proactive members of this society. The Israeli Arabs are not stupid. They see what has been happening in the "Muslim Heavens" and tyrannical dictatorships like Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Lybia, etc. where being a Muslim is not really a protection from genocide, racism and terror. So kick your current Arab MPs OUT of the Parliament and bring in new, fresh and educated people whose purpose would be to better and integrate you in the Israeli society, faster and in a positive way that would give hope to all.
6. Israeli arabs don't wantto live under arab rule
Millicent ,   Israel   (06.23.08)
Because they knowthat under arab rule their lives would be worse off !Corruption permeates the PA and Hamas as much if not morethan Israeli leadership! They know that without the Jews coming to their towns to buy stuff they would be worse off, they know where their bread and butter comes from!
7. How to manipulate polls to get the desired result.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (06.23.08)
1. Make sure your sample population represents the views you want. This is done by pre-screening participants by asking them identifying questions. It's like jury selection by a good trial lawyer. 2. Carefully phrase your questions to elicit responses you want. For example, ask "Do you desire peace?" Almost everyone answers yes. It's like asking people if they love their mother. If you ask me if I want peaceful coexistence this is not the same question as asking do I think peaceful coexistence is possible or likely. These are just two obvious methods of skewing poll results. There are many more.
8. Arab Israelis
Roxy ,   Israel   (06.23.08)
To#1 I personally know an arab Israeli family (christian),they love Israel, having many Jewish friends, they are the warmest nicest people you would ever meet. Not all Arabs are the enemy! Their Hebrew is flaw less and they never have said anunkind word about Israel, and have served in the IDF!
9. SO DON'T SPIT INTO THE WELL!
Inyaki ,   Bilbao, Basque   (06.23.08)
10. Poll
Yehuda ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.23.08)
I think the results are important, but potentially very misleading: they asked the wrong population. The main obstacle to peace is not the Israeli Arabs, but the Arabs in the 'Territories'. Also, even of the population that was polled, they didn't ask detailed enough questions -- or at least they didn't tell us the answers to the more detailed questions. What I have in mind is this: of the 33% of Israeli Arabs who DON'T want to live in Israel more than anywhere else, what percentage would simply prefer living in a villa on the Riviera, and what percentage would like to see Israel destroyed and replaced by a Palestinian Arab state? If, let's say, 20% of the Arab population of Israel wants to see the country destroyed, that's not good for peace. Anyway, the title of the article seems to me to be INTENDED to mislead -- you should have referred specifically to 'Israeli Arabs' in the title -- and even that would not be enough to avoid misunderstandings among most people in the world. I would go even further: the result that 77% of the Arabs living in Israel would rather live in Israel than anywhere else is a tremendous endorsement of Israel, and an indirect rebuttal of those who accuse Israel of 'apartheid' and want Israel destroyed. But the title gives just the opposite impression: it makes it seem like the Arabs want peace, and it is Israel that is the obstacle to peace.
11. This poll does not reflect the reality on the ground.
Keren ,   Israel-SP   (06.23.08)
First-just look at arab MKs to have a taste of what arabs in Israel stand for. Second-Anyone living in Israel knows they are hostile to Jews but smile to Jews because in Israel they have a high standard of living, better, much better than many Jews ,in a considerable percentage. They progress in Israel, but are hypocrital, demanding more and more. They want all and they Jews to have the less. Jews are too good hearted;too naive to understand once and for all the cunnings we have around. Of course, there are exceptions, but they are few.
12. #5 The Arab MPs are a reflection of this CORRUPT Government.
Miriam ,   Israel   (06.23.08)
If Israel would have had a truly Jewish government with Jewish morals and values, they'd have selected some decent Arabs to represent the Arabs living here.
13. Too good to be true
val ,   germany   (06.23.08)
14. Very strange!!!
Akram ,   Paris / Beirut   (06.23.08)
Come on for God's sake, these people have hundreds of years history in Israel, what do you expect else? What a big discovery!
15. people
faisal ,   Dubai   (06.23.08)
are generally good and in reality all of us want peace in our region based on justice and equality.
16. big deal, i've been saying this for years
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (06.23.08)
i don't need a harvard study to confirm what anyone can obviously find out for themselves if they only go to the trouble to find out (and not rely on the sensationalistic media for their opinions). if anyone is surprised at this finding, it just shows what sheep you are enslaving yourselves to the media. but, then again, life is much more comfortable when we have our misinformed prejudices reaffirmed without any effort.
17. Poll: 77% of Arabs say won't replace Israel
Jim ,   Jerusalem Israel   (06.23.08)
what dose this mean? that 77% of Israeli arabs support 23% of Israeli arabs who want to destroy Israel.
18. They have a funny way of showing it.
Nick Sporek ,   Jerusalem Israel   (06.23.08)
19. What you don't understand is...
Kareem ,   Egypt   (06.23.08)
Arabs want to live in Israel because they ain't going anywhere..it's their home. They won't be "forced into other nations" like most of you wish..no..they're there, and they're there to stay.
20. Israeli Arabs like Israel
I.Kemp ,   Nahariya Israel   (06.23.08)
I am not surprised as they know when they are well off. Now the Israeli Govt should introduce an oath of allegiance to Israel for EVERYONE who is an Israeli living here.
21. #19 Kareem They prefer democracy,
petra ,   usa   (06.23.08)
which doesn't exist in arab nations. They prefer living under the rule of Israeli law, the first and finest example of democracy in the world. The arads may not own the Israelis land but, they prefer Israels way of life over arab corruption and misery. They may stay and enjoy what arab nations lack, freedom!
22. # 15 Faisal, All people want liberty.
petra ,   usa   (06.23.08)
and the Israels are good at securing freedom and liberty for all their citizens. In Israel, there are no 'honor killings', no stoning women to death, and no kiddies made to wear suicide strap bombs. Who wouldn't want to live under Jewish law? America adopted these liberties as well and that's why both nations are blessed, and envied. Perhaps other Arab nations will learn from this example they try to destroy?
23. How To Intrepret Poll Results
emanon ,   USA   (06.23.08)
77% of the Arabs want the present government dissolved and an Islamic theocratic state established on the land occupied by the present State of Israel. That is what the headline says to me.
24. #14 - and Jews have lived here for millenia
Millie ,   Israel   (06.23.08)
25. What thi study simply means is that
Israeli Arab   (06.23.08)
we will never leave our lands and towns in the Galilee and elsewhere under any circumstances... We will not accept a land swap with the Palestinian Authority as Livni once suggested. In other words, we will stay here and never allow our existence to be threatened. This does not mean of course that we like the governing system. I think you should be careful analyzing the results of this study and not extrapolate it beyond what it actually means.
26. What this simply should tell the rest in the Israeli public
Nidal ,   East Jerusalem   (06.23.08)
is that people will not be subject to deportation like what Sharon suggested some time ago... This is our historic land, and we are here to stay. Having said so, this does not mean that we are in love with a government that is based on racism. We will resist from inside, but still, this poll is not unexpected. It is like asking the French people when under the German occupation, do you like to live in France? Of course, the answer will say yes we will live in France no matter what even under German rule!
27. How many Jews would prefer arab rule?
Raphael ,   Netanya   (06.23.08)
I am interested to know the figure of Vanunu or Amira Hass style carpetbaggers who would prefer the Hamas flag to the Magen David.
28. reason is arabs get free services
ari ,   jerusalem   (06.23.08)
arabs like it here in israel better because they have been taking advantage of israel for decades. they get health care, don't pay taxes, intimidate israelis through violence, so why form an independent country of palestine? its easier to milk israel dry. and we israelis are suckers and fall for it because we believe in peace,
29. Arabs
Shlomo The Homo ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (06.23.08)
I sraeli arab will bring Israel down sooner or later. One day Jews will be the minorty in Israel.
30. Some of you are misreading these results
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (06.23.08)
Without looking closely at the methodology of the survey it's hard to give a definitive appraisal, but I wouldn't be so quick to suggest it was "rigged". Two real developments suggest otherwise. When anyone talks of "exchanging" the Arab Triangle in the north for larger established Jewish settlements in a deal with the PA, the local population makes clear they do NOT want to live under PA rule. They're ready to move somewhere else in Israel. The construction of the separation face in the environs of Jerusalem has already pushed many local Arabs to physically move to the Jewish side. They want the benefits of living in Israel, and they don't want to live under PA rule. So while many might idealize getting Israeli class benefits and freedoms in a land run by Arabs, they know that's a fantasy.
