Rivkah   (06.24.08)
to have another child by a surrogate mother if Gilad's mother can no longer have a child. Start over and name the child Gilad if it is a boy. When an American Jewish couple learned their son in the US Army died in a car accident in France, they were devastated, expecially since he was their only child. Then they learned a female US Army soldier was pregnant with their son's child. It was as if the world began again for them, as the mother allowed them to be a part of their grandson's life.

Why should they act like their son is dead when he's very much alive? What a cruel suggestion you gave. That's not something any Jew would say. Your namesake, certaintly, would never support your hopeless advise. And her son, Yaakov, who was assumed to be dead, waited 22 years for Yosef until he was found to be alive. He never had another son to replace Yoseff. He hoped and prayed and was eventually redeemed. That's the Jewish way.
4. Negotiations are now closed

Olmert has many envelopes full of cash and his non-IDF serving sons are free. We already understand Olmert has done nothing and his indiscretions have rendered him impotent now. The best way now to free Gilad is by force of arms and the unconditional surrender of the islomofacist fatah and hamas regimes. Israel is supposed to fight wars to win then negotiate after the enemy surrenders. Olmert obviously never read history and has an amateurish skill for negotiations during war. Let a new PM conquer Gaza and redeem our soldiers from captivity. We now need a strong right of center government, this left wing crap in ofice now has shown that liberal rule is a government of sustained losses.

To me, it does not make any sense to talk about this soldier with talking about 11,000 Palestinians in the Israeli dark jails?????? I wish more soldiers will be like Shalit to make a better deal.
8. 3 Lee: Of course a parent never gives up hope.

How silly for you to suggest that. But their heart needs another child to fill the void of losing Gilad. The ELS Bible codes have Gilad Shalit at the surface text verses of Joseph sold into bondage by his brothers. He was never rescued although he saw his family again when they went into bondage in Egypt. Ron Arad was once alive as a prisoner, too. Was he ever rescued? Ehud Goldwasser and another are about to be declared dead. Many have lost their children to slavery, not just in wars. The ELS codes on Natalie Holloway who went missing in Aruba say she is alive and a sex slave and will surface some day. What is her mother to do? Have another child is one answer, but it is not the only answer and it certainly would not mean she would give up hope of finding Natalie. You are the cruel one. I am the one giving hope of filling the void in the heart of those who have lost a child or son or daughter. The love for another child will help heal the wound of loss.

While I can certainly understand your viewpoint in that another child can fill the void or loss of another, this is not some simple suggestion as you said. To say to these parents who have a son held in captivity, who may or may not be alive anymore (but we all hope for the best) to enlist a surrogate mother is absolutely out of line! If their son had died (IF he is dead) under natural circumstances, in which this clearly is not, then perhaps and only perhaps if you knew the family personally that suggestion could be made. I do not know them personally and therefore have no right at all to say something so personal like that to them - as neither do you. Come now...
