1. calm
Ilana   (06.26.08)
people who are not calm by nature cannot keep the calm. And what exactly do we occupy? So the Turks also occupied? And so did the British?
2. crimes
Tarzan   (06.26.08)
Palestinians commit crimes against humanity and just like in the past, the world is silent.
3. Just another day in Israel with a weak, spineless, cowardly,
inept govt.@the helm ,   Rueben, Israel   (06.26.08)
4. No Hopers - Morons!!!
Israel   (06.26.08)
Refusal to open crossing constitutes breach of ceasefire? what? and a rocket into southern Israel doesn't? Bunch of brainless savages. Let them all starve to death.
5. Code Red in Sderot
Juan ,   Spain   (06.26.08)
Sorry, residents, this so-called truce is not going to be any good for you. This is just a "truce" so that the Gazans can fire missiles with impunity once more. Israeli government has been duped once more by the lying terrorists. How long will it take to implement the major operation that you have planned for Gaza - Mr Barack. Answers on a post card...
6. Do the Arabs of Gaza prefer terrorism?
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (06.26.08)
Over sixty-five percent of Arabs in Gaza support continued suicide bombings against Israeli civilians, according to a report released lately by the Arab Jerusalem Media and Communication Center. Sixty-nine percent are “pessimistic” or “very pessimistic” about reaching any peaceful settlement with Israel. More at : http://xrl.us/bjoje
7. The Usual Response
Sidney ,   USA   (06.26.08)
Someone in the Olmert government will threaten dire consequences for the next time but do nothing this time. Ho, hum.
8. Good Terrorists and Bad Terrorists
Gilan ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.26.08)
I'm confused. I thought Fatah were the good terrorists and Hamas were the bad terrorists. But why are the good terrorists attacking us when the bad terrorists promised calm? That's not fair. Oh right. There ARE no good terrorists. Fatah never were our friends in the first place. When will our political leaders realise this? http://www.etgarsheli.com/articles.php?aid=4
9. Let's not act surprised! Pals NEVER respected ANY agreement!
The Doc ,   Haifa, Israel   (06.26.08)
...so it was EXPECTED they will find any excuse to butcher Jews. I say, let's finish this charade and waste of time. They have been firing on us - then let's kick back tenfold. Let's also forget this "proportional response" BS and start pounding them on a daily basis without mercy until they are fed up and give up the way of the terror and their genocidal dream of destroying Israel. If Gazans tolerate terrorists in their midst, they should also bear the consequences of that decision. If Olmert or Barak want ANY chance that voters will go for Kadima or Labor, they better start DOING instead of talking. Otherwise, in the next elections they will find themselves at the very bottom of the vote count.
10. Pathetic
Natan   (06.26.08)
The Israeli government , under the "leadership" of Olmert has put itself in a lose lose situation. It is now Hamas that is calling the shots. The ,so called, cease fire was violated when 3 Qassam rockets were fired into Israel. Hamas claims that Israel has violated the ceasefire when it took out an Islamic Jihad terrorist in the West Bank. The West Bank WAS NOT a part of the ceasfire!!! Israel, in return , closed the crossings to Gaza, which Hamas has claimed is a violation of the ceasefire that resulted in the Qassam firing of today. Hamas, sadly, is now winning . They realize that the Israeli government is weak and unable to confront them..SHAME ON YOU ISRAEL!!!
11. Set Policy and say it out loud
Eric ,   Tel Aviv   (06.26.08)
For every missile or other attack from Gaza the boarders are closed for a business day. If there are 2 on a Friday then it is closed until Monday. Set the penalty for failing to comply very clear and make no exceptions This is is the only way to make sure it will stop - tie penalty to their behavior.
12. Imagine the 10-year Hudna Hamas is proposing
Jake   (06.26.08)
Now that would be a truce to die for!
13. To those who advocate negotiations with Hamas
Jonathan and Mollie ,   Pennsylvania   (06.26.08)
Not surprisingly, the left and other proponents of the need to negotiate a cease fire with Hamas are strangely silent. These delusional fools absolutely cannot learn from past experiences and always urge Israel to negotiate with terrorists who never keep an agreement. We're sure that after they think about the situation, they will come up with more reasons that Israel is to blame. They'll refuse to acknowledge Hamas' refusal to police the truce and blame it on Islamic Jihad. Then, they'll blame Israel for keeping the crossing closed. Then they'll urge Israel to show good faith and release thousands more terrorists from captured jails. They are hopeless as is Israel's government. We just hope that the Israeli people not only remember the arrogance of Olmert but the political machinations of Barak when and if elections are held.
14. Reuven Predicts
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (06.26.08)
Kassams and rockets will continue to hit Israel from Gaza and at an increasing pace, regardless of this hoax-like truce. Israeli politicians will continue to be duped into believing that there are a lot of good Gazans who want calm and a few bad ones who are working to undermine the truce. Tragically, Israel will not react to these rocket attacks and it is not unlikely that citizens will get injured or killed, I am sorry to say. May G-d prevent that from happening. Still, Israel (and our "Defense" Minister Mr. E. Barak) will do nothing to protect our brethren in the South, may G-d be with them.
15. send the rockets back the same way , no warning
rachel ,   usa   (06.26.08)
16. One State for two peoples
Ali ,   Ramallah - Falsteen   (06.26.08)
It seems that the two state for two peoples solution is not valid anymore. The only good solution will be one State, Israel, for the Palestinian and Israeli people. Like in the USA, all backgrounds are welcome to free elections and democratic state that respects all inhabitants.
17. Inspite of ceasefire?
Daniel ,   Israel   (06.26.08)
It's okay, it is a friendly fire, after all Abbase’s Fatah fires it. Abbas is only friend we have there, so it is okay if one or two get injured at our end, it is all for the nation! What you think, Olmert has time for this one or two rockets in a day? Should we bother him for such a small thing?
18. Ali16-Arafats womb warfare wont work here This aint S.Africa
Alan ,   SA   (06.26.08)
I know your friends in the South African ANC suggest this plan every day as a great idea. In S Africa there are 49 Millions of people ,of which only 4 Millions are WHITE. Here in Israel you Arabs are 24% . 800 000 Jews were kicked out of Arab Lands .Why try the same bad plan again .
19. the irony of the crossings
observer   (06.26.08)
Fatah means opening in Arabic.
20. Alan, what your coffee looks like?
Ali ,   Ramallah - Falsteen   (06.26.08)
I thought that USA people are already up, I was wrong! In Palestine there is 3.5 millions in the West Bank and Gaza. Further, 22% of Israel citizens are Palestinians. So, almost 45% of Historical Palestine people are Palestinians. Add to that all the 5.7 millions in Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria. They all can return to the new state if they wish. Our new State, Israel, will have around 12 millions and then we'll have free elections. I think that the first prime minster will be from you, however most probably the next one will be Palestinian. Going from Tel-Aviv to Ramallah restaurants will be very easy, just 50 minutes. Similarly, I can take my family from Ramallah to Yafu sea or wherever I wish in my lovely state. By the way, you are very welcome to spend a day or two with our family in Ramallah.
21. Ali-Pals can convinceBBC&UK Left , Dhimi plan great idea
Alan ,   SA   (06.26.08)
Israel entered West Bank in 1967.Now in 2008 you and your fellow dreamers seriously propose that West Bank Pals take over Israel!!! .It is like the patients in the Psychiatric Hospital taking over the hospital and medicating the Doctors. Who would want to live in a Hamas State(democratically elected, of course)-would you, with your obvious good education.( Im sure you are agraduate of Prof Hanan Ashrawi's English Class)Better get a green card. Israel is a high tech state with a good economic future . Why would anyone there want to turn it into a Somalia with Hamas and Fatah brains.Only the patients! BTW I was already in West Bank ,all by myself ,ALONE, going on Eged and Local brokenPal buses with goats and chickens, already in 1972 There were no checkpoints,no soldiers ,I only saw soldiers along JordanRiver .I saw ALL WEST BANK .I was even alone in Nablus Casbah -no problem .I had 100 invitations even then to stay a few days from strangers . When I came back to Israel my soldier Cousins told me I was crazy to go in the Casbah. That is how the Pals changed everything -you want the Hamas& Fatah to do that to Israel Thanks anyway for your thoughts and invitation..
