31. #30 - But Israel Violated the Truce FIRST
Johan Odin ,   Oslo, Norway   (06.27.08)
You folks seem to be unable to understand that your terrorist attacks upon Palestinians are no better than their terrorist attacks upon you and think that the people of the world are stupid enough to believe your self serving rhetoric, when I can tell you that all the whining you can muster will not blur the fact that it was Israel that broke the truce and not the Palestinians.
32. #27 - Israel was the first to violate 1701 as Well
Johan Odin ,   Oslo, Norway   (06.27.08)
Israel was the first to violate 1701 and continues to violate the conditions of 1701 this day, so what make you think that only the Lebanese must abide by UN resolutions when Israel continues to prove that they will not? Do you think that UN resolutions and other laws should only apply to non-Jews, or are you just an ignoramus who is simply out of touch with reality? Get a grip!
33. united abominations
fish ,   t-a   (06.27.08)
Within striking distance from Ground Zero sits a smoldering International cauldron, the "United Abominations" as it were Born to prevent wars, it froze in the face of disaster and Stood silent while terrorization took hostage the world In a mire of hypocrisy, the UN ignores sex crimes by its "blue-helmets", and enables terrorism; so that in the end it's failed And the UN is where our so-called "friends" get to stab us In the back, and we pay 22% of their tab to host our enemies Here at home. Ambassadors from countries, otherwise known As a catastrophe, enjoy diplomatic immunity living in Manhattan, while their children are turned into prostitutes It's a complete and utter disgrace, a blot on the face of Humanity, and they get away with it. Poverty in their kitchens, held hostage by oil-for-food Yet their own plates are full off the fat of their lands There's no blood on their hands, right Kojo? They promised to tell the truth, without leaving a fingerprint They will lose the UN one way or another The victim, I fear will be us, sisters and brothers.
34. UN is pathetic, stop all funding.
Mike ,   Canada   (06.27.08)
The government of Canada should withdraw from the UN, block all funding and deny visas to anyone working for the organization. Because the UN is so far off on the Gaza situation it makes me think how much are they making up this starvation in Africa so they can funnel the funds to the Muslims!!
35. Johan Odin, # 31
Michael ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (06.27.08)
Firing warning shots at those approaching the border is not a violation of any truce, but standard practice at any hostile border anywhere in the world. Firing mortar shells and missiles into a country's territory is a violation. Is that so terribly hard to understand?
36. the UN
Hilda ,   US   (06.27.08)
When my kitty does something she shouldn't we spritz it with water. In the same manner the IDF shoots in the air at Palestinians who are doing something wrong and the UN condemns Israel. Hamas scontinues shooting missiles with hope of killing Jewish children or other innocents, an obvious violation of the cease fire and the UN says nothing. That's par for the course and again shows what a useless organization the UN really is and time for it to disband or change .
37. #12 , the only charade here is yours
Jake   (06.27.08)
Israel did not violate any truce. The West Bank was excluded from the truce agreement, and you know it well. Since Palestinian terrorists continued to attack Israeli targets, Israel chose to hit Islamic Jihad in the West Bank, which is not part of the truce. Now, Israel is entitled to hit them in Gaza as well. Of course, this truth cruelly penetrates your mind, but you will never admit anything other than the usual kneejerk response that "Israel is to blame". Bronstein, you are pathetic.
38. #14, the UN did not give Israel a grain of sand
Jake   (06.27.08)
Behold the Lie, that UN "gave" the Jews a country. Jews internationally guaranteed entitlement to the land west of the Jordan predates the creation of the UN by 25 years. The UN's General Assembly Partition Plan starts with the words: RECOMMENDATION. This RECOMMENDATION was rejected by the Arabs by force of arms, scuppered by the Brits, and abandoned even by the Americans in favor of "trusteeship". It was never handed over to the UN Security Council for implementation. The worst part is, once Israel declared independence, the UN tried to have it abolished, by having it annexed to Jordan, allowing only for limited Jewish autonomy in an emasculated sliver of territory: http://www.zionism-israel.com/hdoc/Bernadotte_plan_text_june_1948.htm Israel only became a UN member in 1950, after it became clear that all attempts to wipe it off the map had failed.
39. Now the UN is bad because they don't lie for you LOL
james ,   canada   (06.27.08)
You have to love the amount of diversions being tried by the commenter's on here. According to most "news" sources only the Palestinians violated the truce with the rockets, now we see they were lying and that they were shooting at farmers. And oh what a surprise Israel violated the truce first. BIG SHOCK!!! The UN says the truth now you hate them, sounds like something from a school ground argument, grow up children!!!
40. Stupid
Ron ,   Los Angeles   (06.27.08)
You guys are idiots, just take responsibility and shut up!! Israel clearly is in violation, those people were farmers, trust me if they were a threat or had weapons, and we’ll be reading that they are dead and not driven away!! Again, stop your crying.... boo, hoo... ohh me.....
41. This is ridiculous
S   (06.27.08)
1st. they cannot calculate (one time firing of a qassam = one breach of the ceasfire, not 1/10th or so) 2nd. while the idf seems to be firing _towards_ they do not hit. I guess therefore it was not _towards_ but into the air - as warning shots.
42. UN. Bias
D. Scheller ,   Ames USA   (06.27.08)
What else do you expect from the UN? Their bias against Israel is astounding. Seems odd as the UN basically created the State of Israel....
43. #39, sorry but you are just a little dumb
Jake   (06.27.08)
The UN is not "telling the truth", they are merely relaying what Hamas told them, that Israel was the first to violate the truth by firing on farmers near the fence. We all know that is nonsense, because if indeed Israel had fired at a group of farmers for 10 minutes, they would be dead. Clearly, Israel was not firing at anyone, but warning shots in the air. Breach of the ceasefire? I think not. Funny how the UN managed to notice a non-event, yet an entire Arab-perpetrated genocide in Darfur managed to escape their observation. Grow up!
44. #35 - Michael
Johan Odin ,   Oslo, Norway   (06.28.08)
Firing rifles into another countries territory is also just as serious a violation. Israel has a right to defend its own land and arrest or fire warning shots at people entering Israel, but shooting at civlilans and wounding them seriously as the IDF did when the violated the truce is nothing short of criminal. Is that so terribly hard to understand? But perhaps you are you saying that it is OK for other countries such as Palestine, Syria and Lebanon to shoot Israelis when they simply approach near the borders as well, and you would condemn Israel if it retaliated.
45. #37 Jake - Israel violated the truce in Gaza on the 20th
Lev Bronstein ,   Moscow, Russia   (06.28.08)
Your lies will fool some perpahs Jake, but Israel not only fired the first shots violating the truce in Gaza on the 20th were a civilian was seriously injured, and as you stated Israel also murdered two Palestinians in the West Bank in a seperate unprovoked attack. No violations of the truce by the Palestinians had occured prior to Israeli violations, and because of Israel's violations, the Palestinians were justified in their retaliatory response, so I suggest you pull your head out of, well you know were, before posting your usual kneejerk response that Palestinians are to blame.
46. UN: Israel violated truce 7 times in one week
Curtis Balvanz ,   Des Moines, Iowa, US   (06.30.08)
Regarding the following article: http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3560972,00.html Can you provide any UN website link that confirms this? I've been to several and cannot find anything. Many Middle Eastern news sites are publishing similar reports, some even refering to the Ynet report. I don't doubt that some "un-named" person from (some) UN agency provided the information behind this report, but was (s)he authorized and are there other confirming sorces?
